  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to improve the working environment by identifying the work satisfaction of the cleaning workers of the aircraft and measuring and assessing the harmful factors of the cleaning process. Methods: We asked 23 cleaning companies for questionnaires and got 100 answers from 5 companies. The A-E Airline health manager has been contacted to establish a site survey schedule. The in-flight and lounge were measured using direct reading equipment. The harmful factor to be measured are noise, dust, temperature, volatile organic compound, total airborne bacteria, and total airborne bacteria. Results: Uncomfortable positions when replacing blanket, cleaning the table, and cleaning the floor have been identified as factor that reduce work satisfaction. Noise when replacing newspapers and cleaning toilets has been identified as a factor that lowers work satisfaction. Temperature and humidity were found to reduce work satisfaction during in-flight disinfection. Measurements of aircraft cabin and lounge with direct read equipment have shown that none of the items exceed the exposure criteria. Conclusions: As a result of measuring direct-reading equipment, no items exceeded the exposure criteria for each harmful factor. A clear survey of the working environment is required based on the results, and additional research is needed using personal sample measurement.

  • The noise reduction is important one of considerations in the process of a civil aircraft development program. External noise sources are classified into an air-born source and a structure-born source. Among these noise sources, the most affected noise source into a cabin is the air-born noise source from an engine or propeller. The external noise is transmitted into the cabin through the fuselage structure of airplane which are composed of an fuselage structure, an interior trim panel and an acoustic insulation layer between an fuselage structure and an interior trim panel. Therefore, appropriate fuselage structure and acoustic insulation layer is very important to reduce the internal noise level. In this paper, the vibro-acoustic coupled analysis of the cabin noise of the 80~90 seats regional turboprop aircraft is carried out to validate the acoustic analysis method using Direct BEM and FEM. The sound pressure level onto the fuselage skin is acquired by fan-source noise analysis using BEM, and which sound pressure is used as acoustic noise source in vibro-acoustic noise analysis for cabin noise analysis using FEM.

  • The aerodynamic far-field noise was computed by an acoustic analogy code using the permeable surface for the UH-1H rotor blade in hover. The permeable surface surrounding the blade was constructed to include the thickness noise, the loading noise, and the flow noise generated from the shock waves and the tip vortices. The computation was performed with compressible three-dimensional Euler's equations and Navier-Stokes equations. The high speed impulsive noise was predicted and validated according to the permeable surface locations. It is confirmed that the noise source caused by shock waves generated on the blade surface is a dominant factor in the far-field noise prediction.

  • The aim of this research is to predict the thickness and loading noise of the round-tip shaped Hartzell propeller currently used in the general aviation aircraft. Before implementing the noise analysis, the pressure distribution on the propeller was obtained by using the free wake panel method and unsteady Bernoulli's equation. The noise signal at observer position can be obtained by using the FW-H equation. The noise prediction results for the propeller indicates that the thickness noise has s symmetric directivity pattern with respect to the tip path plane, while the noise due to loading shows higher noise directivity toward downstream than the upstream direction from the rotor plane. The loading noise is dominant rather than the thickness noise in normal operating condition.

  • = ABSTRACT =Objectives : We evaluated the effect of the aircraft noise on the behavior and affect status of the local elementary school students. Methods : The daytime noise levels of the exposed and control areas were compared and the self answered questionnaires from 272 students and their parents of the exposed area and 91 of the control area were collected. The questionnaires are regarding the noise sensitivity and the psychosocial status of the students, noise sensitivity of the parents and the parents' behavioral evaluation for their children. Results : The mean noise level of the exposed area (67.6 dB(A)) showed higher level than the control area (57.1 dB(A), 58.2 dB(A), 60.2 dB(A)) and it was statistically significant. The mean score for noise sensitivity and the mean score for brief mental exam. in the exposed students were lower than the mean scores in the control group but they were not statistically significant (p=0.056 & 0.165). The mean score for behavioral evaluation of students by their parents in the exposed area(15.5) was higher than the mean score in the control group(13.2) and it was statistically significant(p=0.043). The mean score for noise sensitivity in the exposed parent(27.5) was higher than the mean score in the control group(24.1) and it was statistically significant(p=0.045). Conclusions : This study revealed that the noise sensitivity of the parents affected the behavioral evaluation of the students than noise-exposure itself. The further study is needed to evaluate relationship between aircraft noise and it's effect on children's health.

  • This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

  • In this paper, fatigue life analysis of each structure was performed through theoretical analysis method at design stage in order to verify the success or failure of the store's acoustic noise durability according to the Method 515.5 standard of MIL-STD-810F. In addition, experimental analysis was carried out through the ground and flight test by manufacturing the measuring store, and verification of the sound durability was completed through the flight test after manufacture of the actual store. Furthermore, the commercial FEM code through the PSD calculation method applying measured SPL enables verify the durability of new store components development for the future.

  • Market and consumers are more expecting for government-owned corporations to follow ESG management strategies than private companies. This paper tried to research how much ESG management strategies were applied to airport authority's aircraft noise mitigation policies and to provide recommendations regarding how airport authority compliment their noise mitigation policies from aviation experts' viewpoints using AHP. According to AHP analysis, first of all, it was proven that aviation experts perceived it was important to evaluate financial soundness and eco-friendly management in noise abatement program. Moreover, the experts thought airport authority and local governmen should consider social responsibility in resident assistance program. Finally, they perceived it was also important to evaluate the effectiveness of policy enforcement while airport authority monitored the aircraft's noise reduction procedures.
