  • In this study, jet fans are installed with 4 cases in the straight long tunnel; inlet-side setup, middle-side setup, outlet-side setup, and dispersion setup. A bus is selected as fired car, of which fire size is 20MW. And fired car locates at 100m, 700m, 1500m position from tunnel inlet, respectively. FLUENT, commercial finite-volume code, is used to analyze the performance. The velocity profile, $CO_2$ concentration, temperature distribution are examined for analysis. Performance of smoke control is compared by the backlayering length. Consequently, inlet-side setup of jet fans is a little more efficient than other cases considering the fire occurrence frequency in tunnel.

  • The purpose of this study is augmentation of heat transfer without additional power in the case of rectangular air jet which impinges vertically on the heating surface. The experimental results are obtained heat transfer augmentation of a two-dimensional impinging jet using the surface roughness of transverse repeated-rib type. The integral average heat transfer coefficient of ribbed plate is about two times larger than that of flat plate. In order to supplement the information about the mechanism of heat transfer augmentation, the flow structure in the stagnation region is visually studied by using the smoke wire technique. The heat transfer augmentation is due to the effect of stretching of large scale vortex in the stagnation region.

  • In order to predict the effect of swirl on the structure of concentric laminar jet diffusion flame, present study examined the effect of swirl on the flame characteristics by numerical numerical analysis through theoretical model. The theoretical model has been developed for the co-axial laminar jet flame such that the fuel and air are supplying with swirl through inner and outer co-axial tube respectively. For the parametric study, swirl number, Reynolds number of fuel and air and directions of swirl are chosen as important parametes. The results of study show that the flame with width and shorter length is formed by larger swirl number. The important factor of the flame shape is the recirculating zone formed around jet axis near the exit of nozzle. In case of weak swirl, the effect of directions of swirl is not appeared. However, for the strong swirl, the flame with shorter length are appeared in case of counter-swirl compared with the case of co-swirl.

  • This study presents the combustion characteristics and flame structure of annular swirling flow when there were changes the equivalence ratio and swirl number of swirling jet of fuelair mixture. The conclusions of this study are as follows; During the investigations in which the change of equivalence ratio and swirl number were studied, three basic shapes of flame were observed in this study. Visible flame lengths of swirling jet results in the decrease with increasing of swirl number and air-fuel ratio of mixture. Radial distribution of flame temperature with strong swirl is higher than that of weak swirl at the same equivalence ratio of mixture. The angle of spread of the annular jet increases with the increase of swirl number. When the swirl intensity is increased in a jet, the decay of concentration of carbon dioxide is decreased with the distance from nozzle exit of burner.

  • Construction machinery includes an engine enclosure separated from a cooling system enclosure by a wall to reduce noise and advance cooling system performance. For this structure, however, the axial fan cannot be of benefit to the engine room, and so the temperature rise in the engine room makes several bad conditions. This paper proposes that hot air in engine room is evacuated tv secondary pipe using jet pump. This paper demonstrates the structure and the effect of jet pump and useful guideline on design of area, length, and shape of secondary pipe to maximize the effect of jet pump.

  • The study aims to analyzed and identify the heat transfer characteristics of water-jet-impingement with use of 3-D numerical-analysis in order to design the old water duct. The temperature comparison processes were done with various duct flows. In addition, the optimal conditions of water-jet-impingement were proposed as jet-pressure, the temperature on the beat plane, and so on.

  • Two-phase(air-solid, air-liquid droplet) turbulent round jet has been analyzed numerically using two equation turbulence model. The mean motion of suspending particles in air has been treated as the secondary fluid with virtual density and eddy viscosity. In this paper, the local mean velocity of secondary fluid is not assumed to be the same as that of the primary one. Dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energy which arises because the particles can not catch up with the turbulent fluctuations of the primary fluid has been modelled by using the concept of Kolmogorov's spectral energy transfer. Numerical computations were performed for flows with different volume fraction of the dispersed phase and the diameter of particle. Results show that the total rate of turbulent energy dissipation, turbulent intensities and spreading rate of jets are reduced by the increase of volume fraction of dispersed phase. However it does not show consistent tendency with increasing the particle diameter. This investigation also shows that presence of particles in the fluid modifies the structure of the primary fluid flow significantly. Predicted velocity profiles and turbulence properties qualitatively agree with available data.

  • A supersonic ground test facility to develop Ramjet and SCRamjet(Supersonic Combustion Ramjet) engine should be able to simulate high altitude and high Mach number conditions including air total pressure, oxygen level and specific heat ratio at the combustion chamber entrance. The test facility also should simulate the effect of oblique shock wave caused by the flight vehicle. The test facility developed in this study is supersonic free-jet blowdown type, which consists of high pressure air supply source(maximum pressure=32MPa), air heater(vitiation type), supersonic diffuser, ejector, and test chamber(nozzle exit dimension=200mm$\times$200mm).

  • Various flame types are observed in a double concentric burner by varying equivalence ratio and flow rates in each tube. Observed flame types include bunsen-type flame, ring-shaped flame, outer lifted flame, inner lifted flame, and oscillatory lifted flame, The doman of existence of various flames is mapped with equivalence ratio and annular jet velocity. Each flame is investigated through direct photography and OH PLIF. As central air velocity increase, the blowout region is diminished and lifted oscillating flames are observed. Inner lifted flames are observed from bunsen flames or rich shaped flames by increasing central air velocity. For inner lifted flames, annular jet velocity, at flame liftoff decreases with increasing central air jet velocity. Axial velocity profile and temperature fie이 using LDV and CRS, respectively, for a typical inner lifted flame are also measured through which the role of tribrachial flame for stabilization in emphasized.

  • This paper surveys the fabric weavability and machine efficiency in the various weaving looms such as Projectile, Rapiers, and Air-jet. Used projectile loom was Sulzer-PU, and FAST-R, THEMA-11E, and Picanol-GTX were used for Rapier looms, as the Air-Jet looms, Picanol PAT and OMNI types were used. Using these looms, 5 harness worsted satin fabrics were woven for surveying the fabric weavability and machine efficiency. Warp yam count of fabric is 1/40Nm, Sirofil, and filling is 1/30 Nm, worsted. End breaks of warp and filling directions for the various types of looms are measured and discussed with the mechanism of each loom. Warp and filling yam tensions are also measured and analysed with open width of shedding motion of each weaving machine. And various warp yam tensions with open width of shedding are measured and analysed according to the warp yam in various heald frame. These results fire also discussed with temples such as bar and ring. Warp yam tensions at the various positions on the fabric with various looms are measured and discussed with fabric mechanical properties such as tensile, bending, shear and surface.
