Recent interests in both vehicle emissions and public health have facilitated the development of more eco-friendly transportation systems. This study proposed an integrated simulation approach for evaluating the effectiveness of speed management strategies from the various perspectives including safety, operational efficiency, and environmental compatability. Those simulation methods include driving simulation, traffic flow simulation, emissions simulation, and air dispersion simulation. An essence of the proposed simulation framework is to create the systematic connection of each simulation method toward the evaluation of effectiveness of speed management strategies. As an example, chicane and speed hump in residential area were evaluated by the proposed method. It is expected that the proposed simulation-based approach would be effectively used for the decision-making process in selecting better alternatives considering both safety and public health.
$SO_2$ concentrations in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) were predicted by the regional segment ISCST3 modeling. The SMA was segmented by three modeling regions where the weather monitoring station exists since the area of the SMA, approximately $100km{\times}100km$, is too wide to be modeled by one modeling domain. The predicted concentrations by the model were compared with the measured concentrations at 39 air monitoring stations located in the SMA to validate the ISCST3 modeling coupled with the regional segment approach. The predicted concentrations by the regional segment method showed better performance in depicting the measurements than those by the non-segment ISCST3 modeling. The correction methods of the calculated concentrations reviewed were here the correlation method by the first order linear equation and the ratio method of observed to calculated concentrations. The corrected concentrations by two methods showed good agreement with the measured data. The ratio method was, however, easily applicable to the concentration correction in case of a wide modeling region considered in this study.
There is growing interest in solar power generation due to global warming. As a result, demand for polysilicon, which is the core material for solar cells, is increasing day by day. As the market grows, large and small accidents occurred in the production process. In 2013, hydrochloric acid leaked from the polysilicon manufacturing plant in SangJu. In 2014, a fire occurred at a polysilicon manufacturing plant in Yeosu, and in 2015, STC(Silicon Tetrachloride) leaked at a polysilicon manufacturing plant in Gunsan City. Leakage of chemicals in the polysilicon manufacturing process can affect not only the workplace but also the surrounding area. Therefore, in this study, we identified the hazardous materials used in the polysilicon manufacturing process and quantitatively estimate the amount of leakage and extent of damage when the worst case scenario is applied. As a result, the damage distance by explosion was estimated to be 726 m, and the damage distance to toxicity was estimated to be 4,500 m. And, if TCS(Trichlorosilane), STC(Silicon Tetrachloride), DCS(Dichlorosilane) leaks into the air and reacts with water to generate HCl, the damage distance is predicted to 5.7 km.
An orchestrated attempt was made to analyze samples of bulk and individual particulate matters (PM) collected at the Gosan ground-based station on the west coast of Jeju, Korea. A two-stage filter pack sampler was operated to collect particles in both large (> $1.2\;{\mu}m$) and small size fractions (< $1.2\;{\mu}m$) between the Asian dust (hereafter called "AD") storm event and non-Asian dust period. Elemental components in bulk and individual particles were determined by PIXE and synchrotron XRF analysis systems, respectively. To assess the transport pathways of air parcels and to determine the spatial distribution of PM, the backward trajectories of the Meteorological Data Explorer (Center for Global Environmental Research, 2010) and the NOAA's HYSPLIT dispersion-trajectory models were applied. In line with general expectations, Si and other crustal elements in large size particles showed considerably higher mass loading on AD days in comparison with non-AD days. Computation of the crustal enrichment factors [(Z/Si)$_{particle}$/(Z/Si)$_{desert}$ sand] of elements in large size particles (> $1.2\;{\mu}m$) allowed us to estimate the source profile and chemical aging of AD particles as well as to classify the soil-origin elements. On the basis of a single particle analysis, individual AD particles are classified into three distinct groups (neutralized mineral particles, S-rich mineral particles, and imperfectly neutralized particles).

Freeze drying for porous Mo was accomplished by using $MoO_3$ powder as the source and camphor-naphthalene eutectic system as the sublimable material. Eutectic composition of camphor-naphthalene slurries with the initial $MoO_3$ content of 5 vol%, prepared by milling at $55^{\circ}C$ with a small amount of oligomeric dispersant, was frozen at $-25^{\circ}C$. The addition of dispersant showed improvement of dispersion stability in slurries. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphor-naphthalene during drying in air for 48 h. To convert the $MoO_3$ to metallic Mo, the green body was hydrogen-reduced at $750^{\circ}C$, and sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The sintered samples, frozen by heated Teflon cylinder, showed large pores with the size of about 40 ${\mu}m$ which were aligned parallel to the sublimable vehicles growth direction. The formation of unidirectionally aligned pores is explained by the rejection and accumulation of solid particles in the serrated solid-liquid interface.

In this review, the use of air bubbles in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations was discussed. The foam bubbles show different characteristics depending on the foaming agents and foam generating devices. The foam bubbles are generated in the form of dispersion of gas bubbles in a solvent. The assessment of stability and rheological properties of bubbles are the starting point for the formulation to be used. Pharmaceutical and cosmetic uses of bubbles are substantially growing, and the foam formulations of drugs can be used for rectal, vaginal, and dermal symptoms. The foam formulation is used in hair mousse, makeup foundation, and sunscreen cosmetics in basic cosmetics. Recently, a lot of studies and patents have been filed in stabilization of active ingredients and delivery of the active ingredient in terms of foam formulations. In the future, foam formulations are expected to be used as novel cosmeceutical formulations.

Printed electronics based on the direct writing of solution processable functional materials have been of paramount interest and importance. In this talk, the synthesis of printable inorganic functional materials (conductors and semiconductors) for thin-film transistors (TFTs) and photovoltaic devices, device fabrication based on a printing technique, and specific characteristics of devices are presented. For printable conductor materials, Ag ink is designed to achieve the long-term dispersion stability and good adhesion property on a glass substrate, and Cu ink is sophisticatedly formulated to endow the oxidation stability in air and even aqueous solvent system. The both inks were successfully printed onto either polymer or glass substrate, exhibiting the superior conductivity comparable to that of bulk one. In addition, the organic thin-film transistor based on the printed metal source/drain electrode exhibits the electrical performance comparable to that of a transistor based on a vacuum deposited Au electrode. For printable amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOSs), I introduce the noble ways to resolve the critical problems, a high processing temperature above $400^{\circ}C$ and low mobility of AOSs annealed at a low temperature below $400^{\circ}C$. The dependency of TFT performances on the chemical structure of AOSs is compared and contrasted to clarify which factor should be considered to realize the low temperature annealed, high performance AOSs. For photovoltaic application, CI(G)S nanoparticle ink for solution processable high performance solar cells is presented. By overcoming the critical drawbacks of conventional solution processed CI(G)S absorber layers, the device quality dense CI(G)S layer is obtained, affording 7.3% efficiency CI(G)S photovoltaic device.
It was known that the polarlized surface of silver nanoparticles could be interacted revesibly with olefin molecules for facilitated olefin transport. However, it was thought that it can be regenerated by interaction between oxide surface of AgNPs and olefin molecules because the surface of the silver nanoparticles is easily oxidized in the air. In order to investigate the effect of the silver oxide, 5 wt% AgO or $Ag_2O$ was dispersed in polymer PVP solutions and 0.005~0.02% electron acceptor as TCNQ or p-BQ were added to fabricate the separation membrane. After the addition of the electron acceptor, it was expected to improve the polarity on the surface of the silver oxide and the degree of dispersion. The characteristics of the separation membrane were identified by the gas permeance, XPS and TEM.

Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), caused by Cochlodinium polykrikoides that causative fishery mortality, impact on aquaculture and economic loss appear particularly in summer and fall seasons in the Korean seas. It was studied on characteristics of HABs in the South Sea of Korea by using satellite and in-situ data. The in-situ data encompassed oceanic and meteorological data from July to October 2002-2008 and satellite data from July to October 2002-2006. Chlorophyll concentrations were calculated using Seaviewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor images by an Ocean Color (OC4) algorithm, and HABs were estimated using the Red tide index Chlorophyll Algorithm (RCA). The HAB occurrences were dominant when water temperature was $22.6-28^{\circ}C$ in August. The frequency of the individual numbers during 2002-2008, the HABs more than 1000 cells/ml (alert condition), were 73.57 %. In meteorological data from July to September during 2002-2008, the average precipitation, the mean air temperature, the mean wind speed and direction, and the sunshine were 9.31 mm/day, $24.07^{\circ}C$, 2.34 m/s and easterly, and 1-11 h, respectively. Our results suggest that the upwelling is caused by southwesterly wind in summer season and the Tsushima Warm Current which have influenced on the dispersion and moving of HAB (chlorophyll). In addition, the fresh water from Nakdong River, as the source of nutrients, also influences the occurrence of HABs.
The covered stream of cities are considered an odor source. Also, the public do not want a wastewater treatment plant(WWTP) near their properties due to the emission of odor emanating from such sources, although they play an important role in urban development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern distribution of the odorous compounds from the Nambu WWTP and Youngho stream in Busan. odor sampled four times were analyzed by instrumental analysis method and indirect olfactory method. The kinds of offensive odorous compounds examined are acetaldehyde, propion aldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide and ammonia. Also, Concentration of air pollutants has been calculated by ISCST3 models. At the result of this study, The Nambu WWTP releases sulfur compounds. And the major odorous were hydrogen sulfide (1,475 ppb) and acetaldehyde (95 ppb) at Youngho stream. The stink which residents feel will point out the Nambu WWTP mainly if the odor is removed with the improvement of a Youngho stream. Accordingly, we should pay more attention to appropriate components to processes in odor reducing plan at Nambu WWTP.
