  • After Dantzig and Rasmer introduced Vehicle Routing Problem in 1959, this field has been studied with numerous approaches so far. Classical Vehicle Routing Problem can be described as a problem of multiple number of homogeneous vehicles sharing a same starting node and having their own routes to meet the needs of demand nodes. After satisfying all the needs, they go back to the starting node. In order to apply the real world problem, this problem had been developed with additional constraints and pick up & delivery model is one of them. To enhance the effectiveness of pick up & delivery, hub became a popular concept, which often helps reducing the overall cost and improving the quality of service. Lots of studies have suggested heuristic methods to realize this problem because it often becomes a NP-hard problem. However, because of this characteristic, there are not many studies solving this problem optimally. If the problem can be solved in polynomial time, optimal solution is the best option. Therefore, this study proposes a new mathematical model to solve this problem optimally, verified by a real world problem. The main improvements of this study compared to real world case are firstly, make drivers visit every nodes once except hub, secondly, make drivers visit every nodes at the right time, and thirdly, make drivers start and end their journey at their own homes.

  • This paper is motivated by a military cargo-plane routing problem which is a pickup-and-delivery problem in which load splits and node revisits are allowed (PDPLS). Although this recent evolution of a VRP-model enhances the efficiency of routing, a solution method is more of a challenge since the node revisits entail closed walks in modeling vehicle routes. For such a case, even a compact IP-formulation is not available and an effective method had been lacking until Nowak et al. (2008b) proposed a heuristic based on a tabu search. Their method provides very reasonable solu-tions as demonstrated by the experiments not only in their paper (Nowak et al., 2008b) but also in ours. However, the computation time seems intensive especially for the class of problems with dynamic transportation requests, including the military cargo-plane routing problem. This paper proposes a more scalable algorithm hybridizing a tabu search for pricing subproblem paused as a single-vehicle routing problem, with a column generation approach based on Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition. As tested on a wide variety of instances, our algorithm produces, in average, a solution of an equiva-lent quality in 10~20% of the computation time of the previous method.

  • Adenoid cystic carcinoma usually grows in the trachea or near its bifurcation and causes obstruction of the air way. We recently experienced a 33 year-old male patient who had adenoid cystic carcinoma in the left main bronchus with the chief complaint of productive cough. On the bronchoscopy, the mass obstructed the left main bronchus completely and had nodularity and increased vascularity. The trachea was shifted to the left side and the lower lobe of the left lung was atelectatic on chest X-ray and computed axial tomogram. He underwent left tracheal sleeve pneumonectomy and lymph node dissection through bilateral thoracotomy. At first,we attempted left tracheal sleeve pneumonectomy through the left thoracotomy, however, it was very difficult to perform carinoplastic procedure after sleeve resection of 2.5cm of distal trachea and 1cm of proximal right main bronchus including whole left lung because of poor operative field and difficulty in the anastomosis of the right main bronchus to the distal end of the trachea without tension. Therefore after radical resection of the left lung we made right thoracotomy, through which we could anastomosed the distal trachea and right main bronchus with 4-0 PDS interrupted suture after mobilization of the right hilum without difficulty. The tumor was confirmed to be adenoid cystic carcinoma with metastasis to subcarinal lymph node histopathologically. Postoperative course was uneventful but he needed two bronchoscopic procedure to clear distal airway of the retained bronchial secretion. He was discharged at 14 days after operation with complete recovery.

  • This study investigates the free vibration and buckling analyses of isotropic curved plate structures fixed at all ends. The Kirchhoff-Love Plate Theory (KLPT) and Finite Element Method (FEM) are employed to model the curved structure. In order to perform the finite element analysis, a four-node quadrilateral element with 5 degrees of freedom (DOF) at each node is utilized. Additionally, the drilling effect (θz) is considered as minimal to satisfy the DOF of the structure. Lagrange's equation of motion is used in order to obtain the first ten natural frequencies and the critical buckling values of the structure. The effects of various radii of curvatures and aspect ratio on the natural frequency and critical buckling load values for the single-bay and two-bay curved frames are investigated within this scope. A computer code based on finite element analysis is developed to perform free vibration and buckling analysis of curved plate frames. The natural frequency and critical buckling load values of the present study are compared with ANSYS R18.2 results. It has been concluded that the results of the present study are in good agreement with ANSYS results for different radii of curvatures and aspect ratio values of both single-bay and two-bay structures.

  • Mobile Ad-Hoc network tends to expose scarce computing resources and various security threats because all traffics are carried in air along with no central management authority. To provide secure communication and save communication overhead, a scheme is inevitable to serurely establish session keys. However, most of key establishment methods for Ad-Hoc network focus on the distribution of a group key to all hosts and/or the efficient public key management. In this paper, a secure and efficient scheme is proposed to establish a session key between two Ad-Hoc nodes. The proposed scheme makes use of the secret sharing mechanism and the Diffie-Hellman key exchange method. For secure intra-cluster communication, each member node establishes session keys with its clusterhead, after mutual authentication using the secret shares. For inter-cluster communication, each node establishes session keys with its correspondent node using the public key and Diffie-Hellman key exchange method. The simulation results prove that the proposed scheme is more secure and efficient than that of the Clusterhead Authentication Based Method(1).

  • This paper describes the implementation of a ZigBee sensor node that can be utilized as a multiband and machine to machine (M2M) communication gateway. The IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard was used as the wireless network frequency band. Ember's Type EM357 SoC was used as the transmission and reception device to perform the communication function, and it was also used for both the main M2M gateway and the sensor node. For the implementation of the operating protocol, EmberZNet Stack 4.5.4 from the Ember Corporation was used. The measurement of the reception sensitivity in the receiving module and the actual output signal from the reference were obtained from the transmission of a packet, and the packet included the M2M gateway within the attached ZigBee sensor. The packet error rate was measured as 0% with a -98 dBm reception sensitivity at the ZigBee frequency. In addition, excellent current characteristics of the ZigBee modules were shown by the implementation of the low-power circuit.

  • This study was carried out to investigate proper stem cutting position and air temperature to regenerate roots from cuttings of bitter gourd. 'NS454' (NS) and 'Dragon' (DR) cultivars were tested and the cutting position was cut at the 3rd node in the stem (treatment I) and cut at the central part (stem segment) between 3rd leaf and 4th leaf in the stem (treatment II). The air temperature was maintained at 18, 23, 28 and $35^{\circ}C$ in the growth chambers, respectively. The photosynthetic photon flux at the ground of a chamber was maintained in approximately $150-200{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ during the 16-hour photoperiod. The relative humidity in the chambers was maintained over 85%. After 10 days of cuttings, regardless of cutting position, DR and NS cultivars showed 100% the survival rate in the $18^{\circ}C$ or $23^{\circ}C$ treatments, however, most of plants $18^{\circ}C$ treatment had not rooting. In the $28^{\circ}C$ treatment, regardless of cutting position, DR and NS cultivars showed 100% of the rooting rate. In the $23^{\circ}C$ treatment, for DR cultivar, the node cutting showed 90% of rooting rate and the stem segment cutting showed 40% rooting rate. For NS cultivar, the node cutting showed 50% of rooting rate and the stem segment cutting showed 40% rooting rate. DR and NS cultivars have high rooting rate, while the rooting rate remarkably decreased in the $35^{\circ}C$ treatment. For DR cultivar, the stem segment cutting showed 5.3 of the highest rooting number and the node cutting showed 2.7 rooting number in the $28^{\circ}C$ treatment. NS cultivar was not significantly different the rooting regardless of cutting position. The results suggested that cutting at the stem segment cutting of bitter gourd is an effective cutting method for increasing survival rate and the air temperature should be maintained at $28^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, we propose a concatenated diversity system to assure the data transmission reliability between flight type air nodes which move according to their atypical orbit, then its performance is analyzed using computer simulation and it is designed with hdl. The proposed system cannot only improve a bandwidth efficient and coding gain from diversity TCM code but also the reliability of data transmission is high. From the computer simulation result about bit error rate(BER) of the proposed system, we confirm that its BER performance is about 11dB greater than TCM code at $10^{-2}$ and about 11dB greater than space time block code at $10^{-3}$ which has a full diversity gain. In addition, when we compare its BER performance with space time trellis code which has both a diversity gain and a coding gain, the performance of the proposed system is greater than about 1.5dB at $10^{-5}$. Lastly, after designing the proposed system with HDL, we can confirm that the operation result is correct.

  • In this paper, dynamic instability of plane membrane structures under wind action has been studied. The key to solving the governing equations of membrane structures under wind action is how to obtain the air pressure on membrane. Based on Bernoulli's theorem, fluid pressure has a certain relationship with velocity potential. Velocity potential could be solved according to thin aerofoil theory, where air around the membrane is regarded as a sheet of vortices. In this paper, we take advantage of the most commonly used three-node triangular membrane element and weighted residual-Galerkin method to obtain the determining equation for stability evaluation. Square and rectangular membrane structures are studied. The influence of initial prestressing force and wind direction towards critical wind velocity are also analyzed in this paper.

  • Video-assisted thoracic surgery[VATS] has recently evolved as an alternative to thoracotomy for several thoracic disorders. Between March 1993 and September 1993, 42 patients underwent VATS at Gil General Hospital. They were diagnosed as spontaneous pneumothorax in 34[81.0%], mediastinal mass in 5, congenital lobar emphysema in 1, traumatic hemothorax in 1, and sarcoidosis in 1. For pneumothorax, wedge resection of bullae or blebs was done in 18 patients, wedge resection and limited parietal pleulectomy in 13, and only pleulectomy in 2. And excision for mediastinal mass in 5, hematoma evacuation for chronic hemothorax in 1, biopsies of mediastinal lymph node and lung for confirming sarcoidosis in 1, and lobectomy of left upper lobe for congenital lobar emphysema in the child of 12 years. The period of chest tube drainage and postoperative hospitalization averaged 3.8 days [range, 1 to 11 days] and 5.9 days [range, 2 to 18 days]. Three complications occurred in 3 patients with pneumothorax [7.1%, 2 recurrent pneumothorax and 1 postoperative bleeding], and the conversion to open thoracotomy was done in 1 due to massive air leak. The causes of postoperative air leak were speculated and the techniques for saving expensive Endo-GIA staplers are described in this paper. VATS is safe and offers the benefits of reduced postoperative pain and rapid recovery. Our experience indicates a markedly expanded role for VATS in the diagnosis and treatment of various thoracic diseases.
