Thermal Analysis of a Spent Fuel Storage Cask under Normal and Off-Normal Conditions

  • Thermal analyses have been carried out for a spent fuel dry storage cask under normal and off-normal conditions. Environmental temperature is assumed to be $15^{\circ}C$ under the normal condition. The off-normal condition has an environmental temperature of $38^{\circ}C$. An additional off-normal condition is considered as a partial blockage of the air inlet ducts. Two of the four air inlet ducts are assumed to be completely blocked. The maximum temperatures of the fuel rod and concrete overpack were lower than the allowable values under the normal condition. Temperature distributions for the off-normal conditions were slightly higher than the normal conditions.

난방공간에서 에어커튼의 토출각도 변화에 따른 성능 변화 (Performance Variation of the Air Curtain for Various Discharge Angles in Feating Space)

  • Air curtains are widely used for gates of shopping mall, warehouse, cold stores and refrigerated display cabinets. The purpose of the air curtain is to reduce the infiltration of outdoor air and heat loss from the air conditioning space to ambient air. The discharge angle of air curtain is very important as the sealing efficiency is affected by it. This paper presents a performance of single jet air curtain in heating space when the discharge angle of nozzle changes. A numerical simulation is used to study the influence of various parameters on the efficiency of the downward-blowing air curtain device which is installed inside of the wall above the door. The performance of the air curtain is evaluated by sealing efficiency which provides the assessment of the energy savings. A condition of discharge angle that has the highest sealing efficiency is proposed.

Study on the Effect of Season Conditions to the Performance of Longitudinally-Finned Air-Heating Vaporizer

  • To return LNG to a gaseous state, it is fed into a regasification plant. For inland area, where pipelines do not exist or difficult to construct, the LNG is delivered to the inland-receiving terminal available at that area, regasified and delivered to consumers. At inland-receiving terminal, air-heating vaporizer type is usually used. To contribute in developing an efficient air-heating vaporizer, experiment on finned type air-heating vaporizer using 8 fins, 50 mm fin length (8fin50le) and 4 fins, 75 mm fin length (4fin75le) were conducted. The experiments were conducted by varying the ambient condition and the length of the vaporizer. The ambient air was controlled so that it has the same condition with air condition in every season available. $LN_2$ is used to substitute LNG because of safety reason. The results show that characteristics of the finned type 4fin75le vaporizer are comparable to finned type 8fin50le vaporizer at all season.

성덕대왕신종의 명동과 간극의 공명조건 (Resonance Condition of the Resonance Cavity and Air Gap in the Sacred Bell of the Great King Seongdeok)

  • 한국종은 지면으로부터 일정한 간극을 두고 매달리며, 종 아래에 명동이라고 불리는 독특한 음향학적 요소를 갖고 있다. 간극과 명동의 적절한 설계는 공명효과에 의하여 종소리를 극적으로 증폭시킨다. 종체의 내부공동과 간극, 그리고 명동으로 구성된 음향공동계는 공명주파수와 모드를 갖는데, 공명주파수가 종체의 고유진동수에 일치하게 되면, 그 주파수성분이 크게 증폭된다. 이 연구는 성덕대왕신종을 대상으로 간극효과를 고려한 명동의 공명조건을 처음으로 제시한다. 공명조건을 구하기 위하여 신종의 실제 치수를 사용하여 SYSNOISE를 이용한 경계요소해석을 수행하였다. 또한, 계절에 따른 기온의 차이가 공명조건에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하고, 가변형 명동의 개념을 제시함으로써, 현장에서 온도차를 보정하여 정확한 공명조건을 구현시킬 수 있는 방안을 제공한다.

Biosurfactant 생산균주 Pseudomonas aeruginosa F722의 배양특성

  • P. aeruginosa F722는 탄화수소를 분해하는 과정에 biosurfactant (BS)를 생산한다. 탄화수소 분해에 사용되는 C-배지에서 BS 생산량은 0.78 $g/{\ell}$ 이였나, 질소원과 탄소원을 각각 0.05% (w/v) $NH_4Cl\;+\;0.1%$ (w/v) yeast extract과 3.0% (w/v) glucose로 조정한 경우는 BS 생산량이 1.66 $g/{\ell}$로 증가하였다. 최적의 BS 생산조건으로 배양하는 동안 air 1.0 LPM를 공급해 주었을 때는 공기를 공급하지 않을 때의 1.66 $g/{\ell}$보다 약 20% 증가한 1.94 $g/{\ell}$이였다. 뿐만 아니라, glucose 분해속도는 대수증식기와 정지기에서 air를 공급하지 않은 경우0.25, 0.18 $h^{-1}$였으나, 1.0 LPM를 공급한 경우 0.33, 0.29 $h^{-1}$로 조사되었다. 또한, air를 공급하면서 BS 생산 실험을 수행하였을 때, BS 활성이 더 안정적이었다.

전처리 방법에 따른 민들레 볶음차의 특성 (Properties of Dandelion Tea by Pre-treatment Process)

  • 천연에 널리 존재하는 민들레를 차라는 식품형태로 접목시켜 상용식품으로 개발하고자 전처리 과정에 따른 특성변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 고형분 함량과 추출수율은 예비건조구보다 예비건조를 하지 않은 비처리구에서 낮은 값을 나타내었다. 탁도와 갈색도는 예비건조 유무에 따라 큰 차이가 없었지만 비처리구보다 예비건조구에서 다소 높은 갈색도를 나타내었고 찌는 시간이 길어질수록 낮은 탁도와 갈색도를 나타내었다. 관능검사 결과, 각 변수간에 교우작용이 생겨 유의적인 차이는 없었으나 예비건조 하지 않고 찌는 시간 60초로 처리할 경우, 산 맛, 풋내 및 떫은맛이 가장 적었다. 전체적인 기호도는 비처리구보다 예비건조구에서 유의적으로 매우 높은 평가를 나타내었고. 예비건조 하지 않은 비처리구는 60초간 찐 뒤 볶음처리 하는 것이 기호도면에서 유의적으로 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 송풍건조 시간이 길어질수록 고형분 함량, 추출수율. a값, b값, 탁도 및 갈색도는 높았고, L값은 낮았다. 볶음시간도 같은 경향을 나타내었다. 전체적인 기호도는 10시간 송풍 건조하여 5분간 볶음처리 하는 것이 가장 높은 기호도를 나타내었다. 위의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 비처리구에서 60초 찐 후 볶음 차 제조 공정에 따라 제조한 것과 3$0^{\circ}C$에서 10시간 송풍건조 후 볶음 차 제조공정에 따라 제조한 것이 좋은 민들레 차를 제조하기 위한 공정이라고 말할 수 있다.

난방기 중 이중외피 시스템의 자연환기 성능분석에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Natural Ventilation Performance of Double Facade System in Heating Period)

  • A Double Facade System(DFS) is well known as an innovative solution of ecological facade in the west european countries. There are more than 200 various realized DFS in Germany. At the same time, the korean engineers have researched to find out the physical advantages of DFS in the moderate korean climate, which has a very humid summer with high temperature and a dry winter with low temperature. For example, the monthly mean temperature in Korea comes up to 28K, while that in Germany comes up to only 19K. That is, why a other solution of DFS is needed in Korea. This study has experimented the physical performance of the natural ventilation in the heating period. The preheating function of the cold air by DFS can improve no doubt the performance of the natural ventilation at the cold season as well as spring and autumn. The physical difference between single and double facade on natural ventilation has been tested at the newly constructed laboratory, which can turn $360^{\circ}$ to confirm the characteristic of a facade with the various directions. The results show the natural ventilation of the DFS has definitely much more comfortable than that of the single facade system. The air velocity of the inflow as well as the air temperature in the DFS provide a more stable condition than in the SFS. The theoretical limit(air velocity max 0.2m/s, air temperature min. $18^{\circ}C$, temperature difference between 100mm and 1700mm height max. 3K) on the indoor comfortableness doesn't go over in the DFS. On the other hand, the SFS showed an unstable condition with an excess of comfortableness limit on air velocity as well as temperature. In view of the researching results so far achieved, the research came to a conclusion, that the DFS can provide a more comfortable indoor condition by the preheating in the heating period than a SFS, and the period of natural ventilation in winter time could be definitely increased at the DFS.

친환경 고압배전반 개발을 위한 dry air의 압력별 절연내력특성 분석에 관한 연구 (Analysis on the Dielectric Characteristics of Dry Air According to Pressures for Developing an Eco-friendly High Voltage Switchgear)

  • The environmental pollution caused by green-house gases such as $CO_2$ and $SF_6$ has been becoming the main issue of industrial society. Many developed countries are making efforts to minimize the amount of $CO_2$ emission come from the operation of high voltage electrical apparatuses. As a part of these efforts, 180 countries signed the Kyoto Protocol in 1997 to cut back on their green-house gas emissions. Nowadays, the study on the development of dry air insulated switchgear (DAIS) which is known as an eco-friendly electrical apparatus is in progress. A DAIS is advantageous for minimizing the effect of impurities and enhancing the dielectric characteristics over an air insulated switchgear (AIS) by applying constant pressure to an enclosed cubicle. Therefore, a study on the electrical insulation performance of dry air as a gaseous insulation medium is conducted in this paper to substitute a gas insulated switchgear (GIS) for DAIS. As results, it is verified that the AC dielectric characteristics of dry air are similar to those of air and the lightning impulse dielectric characteristics of dry air are superior to those of air at 1bar pressure condition. However, dry air is of inferior dielectric characteristics to $SF_6$ at 4bar pressure condition. Finally, it is suggested that the internal pressure of DAIS should be over 4bar pressure to develop a high voltage switchgear which has similar electrical performance to a conventional GIS. Also, the empirical formulae on calculating the maximum electric field intensity at sparkover of dry air are deduced by experiments according to pressures. It is expected that these results are helpful to design and develop a high voltage electrical apparatus.

동축공기에 따른 Mild 연소의 열적 특성에 대한 수치연구 (Numerical Investigation on the Thermal Characteristics of Mild Combustion According to Co-axial Air)

  • Mild combustion is considered as a promising combustion technology for energy saving and low emission of combustion product gases. In this paper, the controllability of reaction region in mild combustion is examined by using co-axial air nozzle. For this purpose, numerical approach is carried out. Propane is considered for fuel and air is considered for oxidizer and the temperature of air is assumed 900K slightly higher than auto ignition temperature of propane. But unlike main air, the atmospheric condition of co-axial air is considered. Various cases are conducted to verify the characteristics of Co-Axial air burner configuration. The use of coaxial air can affect reaction region. These modification help the mixing between fuel and oxidizer. Then, reaction region is reduced compare to normal burner configuration. The enhancement of main air momentum also affects on temperature uniformity and reaction region. The eddy dissipation concept turbulence/chemistry interaction model is used with two step of global chemical reaction model.

$Bi_2O_3$를 첨가한 Mn-Ni-Co계 써미스타의 자동차 연료 부족 감지용 센서 특성 (Characteristics of Mn-Ni-Co system for automobile fuel shortage detecting sensor with $Bi_2O_3$ addition)

  • Automobile Fuel Shortage Detecting Sensor, in this paper, was fabricated by using heat dissipation coefficient difference between gasoline and air condition the NTC thermistor of Mn-Ni Co system with the composition ratio of Mn$_{3}$O$_{4}$ : 9wt%, NiO : 28wt%, and CO$_{3}$O$_{4}$ : 61wt%. The condition of sensor operation is that, for turn-on characteristics, the time of arriving at 135mA must be less than 180 second when the DC voltage of 11V is applied in the air condition of -10.deg. C and that, for turn-off characteristics, the saturation current must be less than 60mA when the DC voltage of 15V is applied in the gasoline condition of 60.deg. C. It is known, from the experimental results, that the resistance range and B-constant for the Automobile Fuel Shortage Detecting Sensor with dimension of 5*3*0.9mm were 850-1150.ohm. and 1150-1250.deg. C, respectively and the resistance range and B-constant were agree with that of sensor operation condition. When Bi$_{2}$O$_{3}$ of 0-0.5wt% was added to Mn$_{3}$O$_{4}$ : 9wt%, NiO : 28wt%, and CO$_{3}$O$_{4}$ : 61wt% composition, the resistivity and B-value were 380-430(.ohm.-cm) and 1930 - 2030, respectively. Particularly, for Bi$_{3}$O$_{3}$ of 0.25-0.5wt%, the sintering density of over 90% and the operation characteristics necessary to Automobile Fuel Shortage Detecting Sensor were obtained. The difference of heat dissipation coefficient gasoline and air condition was 15 times.
