Derivation of Necessary Items for Implementation of Gardens in Urban Agricultural Parks

  • Background and objective: This study was conducted to obtain empirical data for deriving necessary items for the creation and management of gardens in urban agricultural parks while maintaining the publicness of the place by examining the difference in perception among park visitors about the gardens in the public parks. Methods: A survey was conducted on users of urban agricultural parks in 6 locations and 113 copies of the questionnaire were collected. After understanding the demographic characteristics and the current use of the garden, we identified the importance of the necessary items for the public gardens. Results: 108 subjects(95.6%) responded that gardens are needed in urban parks, for psychological and emotional health (26.2%) and for interaction and friendship with family and neighbors(23.2%). For use of garden crops, most were private sales(96 subjects, 64.4%), and both sales preferred to partially donate their crops. Most used communal gardens operated by public institutions(30.1%). It was found that 96.4% of the respondents were satisfied with gardening activities, and 107(94.7%) of them showed their intention to participate in the gardening in the future. The Kaiser Meyer Olkin value was .848 and the significance level was .001, proving the validity of factor analysis. The factors were named composition elements(Factor 1), management items(Factor 2), convenience elements(Factor 3), and operational facilities(Factor 4). In the survey on the creation and management of gardens in urban agricultural parks, there were no statistically significant differences, but all items had correlations. Conclusion: The results have reflected the needs of actual users in establishing the plans to operate urban gardens, thereby having great utility value as the basic data for continuous garden management. Further research can be conducted to derive detailed elements that can guarantee sustainability of urban gardens and suggest high-quality data for management of gardens in urban agricultural parks.

Effects of organic amendments on lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) growth and soil chemical properties in acidic and non-acidic soils

  • Soil acidification challenges global food security by adversely influences soil fertility and agricultural productivity. Carbonized agricultural residues present a sustainable and ecofriendly way to recycle agricultural waste and mitigate soil acidification. We evaluated the effects of organic amendments on lettuce growth and soil chemical properties in two soils with different pH levels. Carbonized rice husk was produced at 600℃ for 30 min and rice husk was treated at 1% (w·w-1). Carbonized rice husk increased soil pH, electrical conductivity, total carbon content, and nitrogen content compared with untreated and rice husk treatments. Furthermore, this study found that lettuce growth positively correlated with soil pH, with increasing soil pH up to pH 6.34 resulting in improved lettuce growth parameters. Statistical correlation analysis also supported the relationship between soil pH and lettuce growth parameters. The study findings showed that the use of carbonized rice husk increased the constituent elements of lettuce, such as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphate content. The potassium content of lettuce followed a similar trend; however, was higher in acidic soil than that in non-acidic soil. Therefore, improving the pH of acidic soil is essential to enhance agricultural productivity. It is considered advantageous to use agricultural residues following pyrolysis to improve soil pH and agricultural productivity.

Evaluation of input-output energy use in strawberry production in single-span double-layered greenhouses with different thermal-curtain positions

  • The large amount of energy required for successful crop production is the main challenge in greenhouse cropping systems. As a response to this challenge a comprehensive evaluation of greenhouse energy consumption was carried out in two structurally similar single-span greenhouses with different thermal curtain positions, with particular attention to energy productivity, specific energy, net energy, and energy ratio. The greenhouses are used for strawberry production. In the R-greenhouse (RGH), the thermal curtain hanged directly at the roof ridge, whereas in the Q-greenhouse (QGH), the thermal curtain was placed 5° from an imaginary vertical axis, from the middle of the roof ridge downwards to the north side of the greenhouse roof. The relevant data were recorded using standard methods. The results indicated that the energy expended in the RGH and QGH systems was 2,186.48 and 2,189.26 MJ/m2, respectively. Electricity and nitrogen fertilizer contributed the highest energy input in both greenhouses and in all seasons. The output energy was 3.12 and 3.82 MJ/m2, respectively, in RGH and QGH in season I and 4.40 and 4.87 MJ/m2 in season II. In terms of energy expended, there was no significant difference between the two greenhouses, nor between the two seasons. These results indicate that greenhouses of the size used in this investigation are not viable in terms of energy productivity, energy-use efficiency, and subsequent economic performance. However, further studies should be conducted to scale-up the information obtained from this investigation.

PLS 시행 전후 경기도 유통 농산물의 잔류농약 실태 비교 분석 (Comparative Analysis of Pesticide Residues in Agricultural Products in Circulation in Gyeonggi-do Before and After Positive List System Enforcement)

  • 본 연구는 2019년 1월 1일부터 전체 농산물에 확대 적용된 농약 허용물질목록관리제도(PLS)가 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 2018년부터 2020년까지 경기도 유통 농산물 검사 자료 28,693건을 대상으로 잔류농약 실태를 조사하였다. 전체 검사 실적 대비 기준 초과 비율은 2018년 1.0%, 2019년 1.2%, 2020년 1.2%로 나타났고, 잔류농약 검출 비율은 2018년 12.9%, 2019년 25.1%, 2020년 37.3%로 증가하였다. 2019년 기준초과 114건 중 55건이 일률기준(0.01 mg/kg) 적용이었고, 2020년 기준초과 115건 중 66건이 일률기준 적용이었다. 이를 개선하기 위해서는 비의도적 오염, 미등록 작물에 관행적 사용, 부정 농약에 대한 관리가 필요해 보인다. Fluquinconazole은 비의도적 오염이 원인이었고, diazinon, chlorothalonil, methabenzthiazuron은 미등록 작물에 관행적 사용이 원인이었다. Chinomethionat은 과거에 폐기된 농약 성분으로 밀수 농약 사용이 원인이었다. 본 연구 결과와 이후 모니터링 자료는 앞으로 제도 보완 및 현장 관리 강화를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

농업 및 생활용수 부문에 대한 가뭄피해액 산정 (Estimation of Drought Damage Based on Agricultural and Domestic Water Use)

  • 가뭄은 다른 재해와 다른 특징을 지니고 있는데 이는 가뭄기간에 따라 그 파급효과가 오랫동안 지속될 수 있다는 것이며 이로 인해, 가뭄피해액을 산정하기도 쉽지 않다는 점이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가뭄에 의한 피해를 파악하기 위하여 가뭄피해자료가 구축되어 있는 농업부문과 생활용수부분에 대한 가뭄피해액을 산정하고자 하였다. 우선 국내외의 가뭄피해액을 산정하기 위한 방법들을 검토하였고 이를 토대로 국내에 적용가능한 방안을 제시하고 적용하였다. 2006~2008년의 가뭄에 대하여 경상남도 김해시, 남해군, 의령군, 창녕군, 창원시의 피해액을 추정하였다. 그 결과 농업부문에 있어서 정곡은 2006년에 의령군에서 약 1억9천5백만원, 미곡은 창녕군에서 약 6천7백만원으로 가장 높은 피해액이 추정되었다. 생활용수 부문에서는 2007년을 기준으로 고통비용을 40만원으로 가정하여 피해액을 추정하였으며, 남해군의 4개의 읍.면의 피해지역에서 약 214억 6천만원으로 추정되어 가장 큰 피해가 추정되었다. 가뭄으로 인한 피해 추정을 개선하기 위해서 농업부문의 경우는 현재의 자료를 최대한 활용하는 방향으로 추정방법을 개발하고, 생활용수부문의 경우는 고통비용의 산정과 용수 사용에 대한 가중치를 고려한다면 보다 현실성 있는 피해액 산정방법을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

시설재배를 고려한 미래 농지이용 변화와 기후변화가 관개 필요수량에 미치는 영향 평가 (Assessment of Future Agricultural Land Use and Climate Change Impacts on Irrigation Water Requirement Considering Greenhouse Cultivation)

  • 본 연구에서는 CLUE-s(Conversion of Land Use and its Effects at Small regional extent)와 RCP(Representative Concentration Pathway) 4.5 및 8.5 HadGEM3-RA(Hadley Centre Global Environmental Model version 3 Regional Atmosphere)시나리오를 사용하여 미래 농지이용 변화와 기후변화가 관개 필요수량에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 논산시(55,517.9ha)의 농지이용 항목으로 논, 밭, 시설재배지를 고려하고 DIROM (Daily Irrigation Reservoir Operation Model)을 이용해 탑정저수지 수혜구역(5,713.3ha)에 대한 관개 필요수량(Irrigation Water Requirement, IWR)을 추정하였다. CLUE-s를 이용한 미래 농지이용 변화를 모의하기 위해 환경부의 2007년, 2013년, 2019년의 토지피복도 6개 항목(수역, 시가지, 논, 밭, 산림, 시설재배지)을 적용하였다. 그 결과, 2100년은 2013년에 비해 논과 밭이 5.0%, 7.6% 감소했으며, 시설재배지는 24.7% 증가하는 것으로 전망되었다. 미래의 농지이용과 기후변화를 모두 고려한 경우의 RCP 4.5 및 RCP 8.5 모두 2090s(2090~2099) IWR은 미래 기후변화만 고려한 경우에 비해 논과 밭에서는 각각 2.1%, 1.0% 감소하고 시설재배지에서는 11.4% 증가하는 것으로 전망되었다.

수변림으로 인한 유역 토지이용이 하천 수질에 미치는 관계 완화효과 연구 (Mitigation Effect of Watershed Land Use due to Riparian Vegetation on Stream Water Quality)

  • Urban areas in watersheds increase the impervious surface, and agricultural areas deteriorate the water quality of rivers due to the use of fertilizers. As such, anthropogenic land use affects the type, intensity and quantity of land use and is closely related to the amount of substances and nutrients discharged to nearby streams. Riparian vegetation reduce the concentration of pollutants entering the watershed and mitigate the negative impacts of land use on rivers. This study analyzes the data through correlation analysis and regression analysis through point data measured twice a year in spring and autumn in 21 selected damaged tributary rivers within the Han River area, and then uses a structural equation model to determine the area land use. In the negative impact on water quality, the mitigation effect of riparian vegetation was estimated. As a result of the correlation analysis, the correlation between the agricultural area and water quality was stronger than that of the urban area, and the area ratio of riparian vegetation showed a negative correlation with water quality. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that agricultural areas had a negative effect on water quality in all models, but the results were not statistically significant in the case of urban areas. As a result of the model estimated through the structural equation, BOD, COD, TN, and TP showed a mitigation effect due to the accumulation effect of river water quality through riparian vegetation in agricultural areas, but the effect of riparian vegetation through riparian vegetation was found in urban areas. There was no These results were interpreted as having a fairly low distribution rate in urban areas, and in the case of the study area, there was no impact due to riparian forests due to the form of scattered and distributed settlements rather than high-density urbanized areas. The results of this study were judged to be unreasonable to generalize by analyzing the rivers where most of the agricultural areas are distributed, and a follow-up to establish a structural equation model by expanding the watershed variables in urban areas and encompassing the variables of various factors affecting water quality research is required.

농업벤처기업의 빅데이터 활용의도에 영향을 미치는 기술·조직·환경 관점의 핵심요인 연구: 기술분야의 조절효과를 중심으로 (A Study on the Key Factors Affecting Big Data Use Intention of Agriculture Ventures in Terms of Technology, Organization and Environment: Focusing on Moderating Effect of Technical Field)

  • 디지털화의 진전과 함께 축적된 빅데이터의 활용은 글로벌 농산업계에 파괴적 혁신을 가져오고 있다. 최근 정부는 농업 빅데이터 플랫폼 구축 및 지원조직 신설 등의 조치를 취하고 있으나 국내 농산업계는 재배생육 분야의 일부기업 외에는 빅데이터 활용이 미흡한 실정이다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는 빅데이터를 선도적으로 활용하여 혁신을 창출하는 주체가 되어야 할 농업벤처를 중심으로 기술, 조직, 환경의 맥락에서 빅데이터 활용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하고 기술분야에 따른 조절효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이에 농업기술실용화재단 A+센터의 지원을 받는 농업벤처 309개로부터 연구 데이터를 확보하여 SPSS 22.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 기술적 요인 중에서는 상대적 이점과 호환성이 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치고, 조직적 요인 중에서는 경영층 지원이 정(+)의 영향을, 비용이 부(-)의 영향을 미치며, 환경적 요인 중에서는 정책적 지원이 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기술분야의 조절효과 검증 결과, 재배생육 외 기업일수록 상대적 이점, 호환성, 경쟁자 압력 외의 모든 변수와 빅데이터 활용의도와의 관계를 완화하는 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 다음과 같은 시사점을 제시하였다. 첫째, 빅데이터 활용을 통해 농업벤처에 새로운 수익창출 및 운영효율성 제고 기회를 제공할 핵심사업을 선정하여 정책적으로 협업기회를 늘릴 필요가 있다. 둘째, 농산업 특성으로 인한 분석의 어려움을 극복할 수 있는 빅데이터 분석 솔루션 제공이 필요하다. 셋째, 농업벤처와 같은 소규모 조직에서는 최고경영층의 빅데이터 활용에 대한 높은 이해수준으로부터 출발한 조직문화 재편 의지가 선행되어야 한다. 넷째, 중소·벤처기업 수준에서 벤치마킹할 수 있는 성공사례를 발굴하고 홍보하는 것이 중요하다. 다섯째, 농업벤처 기술분야별로 핵심사업 추진과 지원사업의 우선순위를 나누어 추진하는 것이 보다 효과적일 것으로 판단된다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 한계점과 후속 연구과제를 제시하였다.

농촌지역 부부의 시간사용 실태 비교 및 관련요인 분석 (A Comparison of the Pattern and the Investigation of Determinants in Rural Couples′ Time-Use)

  • This study compared the pattern of couples' time-use in rural areas. Wives' and husbands' time spent in household work, leisure, and agricultural labor were compared. In addition, this study examined what factors determine the amount of time of couples spent in such activities. According to the results, in general, the pattern of couple's time-use in rural area was different. Regarding the pattern of time-use, three major results could be mentioned. First of all, husband in rural area spent most agricultural labour time in busy farming season. And then husband spent much time in leisure activities and wife spent in household work. Second, wife spent more time in inactive leisure and husband spent more time in active leisure. Third, husband in rural area spent less time in household work. In particular. they spent less time in female-typed work than male-typed work. To examine what factors determine the extent of time spent in such activities, three theories were employed and tested. According to the results, the models employed in this study were realistic in explaining the amount of time of couple in rural area, and more adjustable wife than husband. In conclusion, a combination of the multidimensional theoretical perspectives used in this study helpfully explains the variation in the amount of time-use of couple in rural area.

Use of veterinary medicinal products in the Philippines: regulations, impact, challenges, and recommendations

  • Agricultural production is a major driver of the Philippine economy. Mass production of animal products, such as livestock and poultry farming, is one of the most prominent players in the field. Filipino farmers use veterinary medicinal products (VMPs) when raising agricultural animals to improve animal growth and prevent diseases. Unfortunately, the extensive use of VMPs, particularly antibiotics, has been linked to drug resistance in animals, particularly antibiotics. Antimicrobial gene products produced in animals due to the prolonged use of VMPs can passed on to humans when they consume animal products. This paper reviews information on the use of VMPs in the Philippines, including the regulations, their impact, challenges, and potential recommendations. The Philippines has existing legislation regulating VMP use. Several agencies were tasked to regulate the use of VMPs, such as the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Health, and the Philippine National Action Plan. Unfortunately, there is a challenge to implementing these regulations, which affects consumers. The unregulated use of VMPs influences the transmission of antibiotic residues from animals to crops to humans. This challenge should be addressed, with more focus on stricter regulation.
