Development of Aging Diagnosis Algorithm for Photovoltaic Modules by Considering Electric Characteristics and Environment Factors (전기적특성과 환경인자를 고려한 태양광모듈의 열화진단 알고리즘 개발)

  • The installation of PV system to the power distribution system is being increased as one of solutions for environmental pollution and energy crisis. However, the efficiency of PV system is getting decreased because of the aging phenomenon and several operation obstacles. Therefore, The technology development of aging diagnosis of PV modules are required in order to improve operation performance of PV modules. This paper proposes evaluation algorithm for aging state in PV modules by using the electrical characteristics of PV modules and environmental factors. And also, this paper presents a operation evaluation system of PV modules based on the proposed aging diagnosis algorithm of PV modules. From the simulation results of proposed evaluation system, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm is a useful tool for aging diagnosis of PV systems.

  • In this paper, aging diagnosis method of CV cable was investigated. CV cable was designed for the sake of using during 30 years. Therefore it was important to evaluate the cable's remaining life because CV cable used for power transmission line since 1970's. CV cable was mainly installed at the underground owing to the environmental condition. If the cable accident occurred, it needs the much time for the accident recovery and the much damage at the industrial activity. therefore, this paper should study the direct leakage current method, a sort of the cables' aging test method

  • The importance of emergency diesel generator(EDG) has confirmed in the safety evaluation of PSA and the study on aging of EDG has been progressed actively as a part of the project of nuclear plant aging research in the U.S.A. As the result, the concept of performance evaluation is being transferred from statistical analysis of test results to performance monitoring and trending analysis for monitoring of aging and reliability. Recently, the study related aging characteristic and reliability for EDGS has begun in Korea. Consequently, the efficient performance monitoring based systematic and integrated monitoring and failure diagnostic technology is necessary. In the research, the knowledge basis of monitoring parameters for EDGS is constructed, and the prototype monitoring and diagnosis system applicable to Pielstick EDG is developed.

  • The location of PV systems in distribution system has been increased as one of countermeasure for global environmental issues. As the operation efficiency of PV systems is getting decreased year by year due to the aging phenomenon and maintenance problems, the optimal algorithm for state diagnosis in PV systems is required in order to improve operation performance in PV systems. The existing output prediction algorithms considering various parameters and conditions of PV modules could have complicated calculation process and then their results may have a possibility of significant prediction error. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an optimal prediction algorithm of PV system by using least square methods of linear regression analysis. And also, this paper presents a performance evaluation algorithm in PV modules based on the proposed optimal prediction algorithm of PV system. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is a practical tool of the state diagnosis for performance improvement in PV systems.

  • Generally, a proper evaluation method of the aging phenomenon of PV modules is required as the electrical performance and lifespan of PV modules can degrade significantly due to several environmental factors, while they are generally known as devices that are used semi-permanently for more than 20 years. On the other hand, there is a lack of objectivity in the existing evaluation method of the aging phenomenon, which compares the adjusted PV output based on STC with the initial PV module specifications due to the data distortion while adjusting the measured data. Therefore, this study implemented a test device for an aging diagnosis to measure and collect actual data from a PV module section and modeled the data for aging using MATLAB S/W to minimize the variability of the PV output, communication error, and delay. Furthermore, this study confirmed the usefulness of the presented test device for aging diagnosis of the PV modules by diagnosing the total period and yearly-basis degradation rate of aging PV modules as 25.73% and 1.55%, respectively, according to the on-site output characteristics of the PV modules by season.

  • The winding problems of traction motor are the major determinant of motor's life. The root cause of winding failure is gradual deterioration of the insulation due to thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental stresses. The aging of the insulation reduces the electrical and mechanical strength of the insulation. At same point, a voltage surge or mechanical shock from a traction motor start will fracture or break down the insulation. To achieve the expected life usually requires extensive laboratory evaluation of the insulation systems and the use of accelerated aging tests. There are several nondestructive test available for checking, the condition of motor insulation, the probable extent of aging, and the rate of which aging is taking place. So the insulation characteristics of stator coil were each analyzed by measurement of dielectric loss(tan$\sigma$), capacitance and partial discharge. The method of diagnosis is able to analyze the insulation condition and evaluate the life of the traction motor.

  • Railroad Systems, which are national infrastructure industries, cause unexpected property and human damage if they fail to function while operating. Accordingly, railroad facilities supporting the railroad system are areas where high reliability and safety are required. However, it is time for systematic and scientific maintenance to be taken away from the traditional maintenance methods, as the nation's railroad facilities are now aging seriously. The purpose of this study was to secure the safety and reliability of the aging railroad communication facilities and to improve their performance. The research subjects were selected as a precision diagnosis process for railroad communication facilities, and improvement points were derived through detailed precision diagnosis process analysis. It is deemed that this study can contribute based on securing stability, improving reliability, and continuous improvement of railroad communication facilities should be conducted in the operation of the entire railroad system.

  • After introducing diagnosis equipment power failure prevention activities for distribution system have become more active. To do facility diagnosis and maintenance work more efficiently we need to evaluate reliability for the system and should determine the priority line with appropriate criteria. Thus, to calculate risk factor for the power distribution line that are composed of many component facilities its historical failure events for the last 5 years are collected and analysed. The failure statics show that more than 60% of various failures are related to environment factors randomly and about 20% of the failures are refer to the aging. As a strategic evaluation system reflecting these environmental influence is needed, a system on the basis of the probabilistic approach related statical variables in terms of failure rate and failure probability of electrical components is proposed. The figures for the evaluation are derived from the field failure DB. With adopting Bayesian rule we can calculate easily about conditional probability query. The proposed evaluation system is demonstrated with model system and the calculated indices representing the properties of the model line are discussed.
