Advance in Internet technology has changed traditional production planning and control methods. In particular, collaborations between participants in supply chains are being increasingly addressed in industry for enhancing chain-wide productivity. A representative paradigm that emphasizes collaboration in production planning and control is CPFR(Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment). In this paper, we present a multi-agent system architecture that supports the collaborations specified in CPFR. The multi-agent system architecture consists of event manager, data view agent, business rule agent, and collaboration agent. The collaboration agent systematically controls negotiation between supplier and buyer with the aid of collaboration protocol and blackboard. The multi-agent system has been implemented with EJB(Enterprise Java Beans).

In order to purchase a product cheaper, a lot of customers have been trying to search one or more marketplaces. Ever since the commercial use of the Internet, several types of marketplaces have been operating successfully on the Internet. Some of them are online shopping malls, auction markets, and group-buying markets. They have the price settlement mechanisms of their own. Online shopping malls where many stores are located support a customer to purchase the product that matches his/her requests such as price, function, design, and so forth. In online auction market, a customer can buy the product by making bids sequentially and competitively until a final price is reached. In online group-buying market, a customer can purchase the product by aggregating the orders from several buyers so that cheaper prices can be negotiated. The cheaper customers could purchase the same product item, the more satisfied they would be. However, it is very difficult for the customer to determine the marketplace to purchase, considering different kinds of marketplaces at the same time. Even though the purchasing price is cheapest in one marketplace, it is very difficult for customers to convince it the cheapest for all marketplaces. Therefore, rules and methods have been developed for purchase decision making in multiple marketplaces to reach the optimal purchase decision as a whole. They can maximize customer's utility and resolve the conflicts with other marketplaces through multi-agent negotiation.
In this paper, we suggest a message-based communication protocol and a dynamic role assignment mechanism for efficient cooperation and teamwork of agents in computer game environments. This role assignment mechanism is a new one different from both existing static and dynamic mechanisms, in which all decisions related with role assignment are made at once in design phase or execution phase. According to our mechanism, all possible role sets are determined in design phase. Detail decisions regarding which agent takes what role, however, are made in execution phase. This mechanism for role assignment can minimize the negotiation effort in execution phase. Therefore, this mechanism is quite effective especially in real-time multiagent environments. Through experiments, we show the superiority of the new dynamic role assignment mechanism.

Software agents reduce human involvement to a certain extent by automating routine tasks. However, most of agents have assisted with only a few steps in the multi-steps process of electronic transactions. In order to help users with the important steps in the electronic transactions, software agents need to persuade other parties to act in particular ways. While negotiations have many shapes and forms, this paper focuses on a particular class of negotiation, that is competitive business environment based negotiation. For negotiation with other parties in this contort, it is necessary for autonomous agents to consider environmental variables-the number of competitors, the number of negotiation parties, the maximum time by which they must finish their jobs, and user's preferences. Previous negotiation decision functions for the automated negotiation have used only time or the static numbs of negotiating parties as negotiation criteria, although competitive business environment should include potential competitors who can snatch negotiation parties away. This paper attempts to evaluate the performance of a negotiation decision function that considers the potential competitors in competitive market environment as well as that of a negotiation decision function that does not. For this evaluation, this study adopts the electronic marketplace as an application domain because many buyers and sellers compete for limited resources in the marketplace.
New system solves scheduling problem in medical services. The existing scheduling system by FCFS is for a hospital but new system expresses the condition of a hospital and the profit of separate system's parties by the automated negotiation. This system expresses user preference time as a priority number and is designed that the schedule is changed according to the priority number with a negotiation strategy for a patient. And a hospital makes a schedule according to the policy. The system supports customer satisfaction in medical services by considering not only equipment efficiency but also the patent waiting time unlike the existing system considering the idle time for a equipment.

The ship selection by consignors has two steps to carry their cargo. The first step is to select according to time schedule of ships and amount of cargo, and the second one is re-selection by concentrating different consignors' cargo into a unit that can be carried by single ship. Up to now, these steps are usually done by hands leading to inefficiency. The purpose of our paper is to form a logistics chain to minimize the overall sum of logistics cost by selecting ships for consignors' cargo using negotiation methodology between agents. Through concentration and distribution of cargo, maximization of global profit derived from searching optimal point in trade-off between inventory cost and freight rate cost. It is settled by the negotiation between consignors. In the experiments, two methods of the first-step of ship selection: EPDS(Earliest Possible Departure-Date Scheduling) and LPDS(Latest Possible Departure-Date Scheduling) coupled with the second-step ship concentration method using the negotiation were shown. From this, we deduced inventory cost, freight rates and logistics cost according SBF(Scheduling Bundle Factor) and analyzed the result. We found it will minimize the total logistics cost if we use negotiation method with EPDS.

I propose a personalized digital library system (PDLS) based on an advanced distributed agent platform. The new platform is developed by improving the DECAF (Distributed Environment-Centered Agent Framework) which is one of the conventional distributed agent development toolkits. Also, a mobile ORB (Object Request Broker), Voyager, and a new multi agent negotiation algorithm are adopted to develop the advanced platform. The new platform is for mobile multi agents as well as the distributed environment, whereas the DECAF is for the distributed and non-mobile environment. From the results of the simulation the searched time of PDLS is lower, as the numbers of servers and agents are increased. And the user satisfaction is four times greater than the conventional client-server model. Therefore, the new platform has some optimality and higher performance in the distributed mobile environment.
In this paper, I proposed the INTelligent Agent System by Kohonen's Self Organizing Neural Network (INTAS). INTAS creates each user's profile from the information. Based on it, learning community grouping suitable to each individual is automatically executed by using unsupervised learning algorithm. In INTAS, grouping and learning are automatically performed on real time by multiagents, regardless of the number of learners. A new framework has been proposed to generate multiagents, and it is a feature that efficient multiagents can be executed by proposing a new negotiation mode between multiagents..
Interaction builds up among agents in order to accomplish their goals. Argumentation is important for agent negotiation and interaction. In this paper, we discuss about the framework for multi-agent argumentation and the way multi-agents co-operates between each other. We identify aspects of classical argumentation theory that are suitable and useful for artificial agents.
