  • To investigate the effect of levels of dietary protein and age on bone metabolism 40% and 5% casein were fed to the rats of 2 & 13 months of age for 12 weeks. High protein groups showed higher bone weight and Ca content than low protein groups and urinary Ca loss was increased in high protein groups but the difference disappeared gradually. A significant increase in urinary hydroxyproline excretion was noted in high protein groups of both age. Another short term study was undertaken to study if the above effect was related with renal function or PTH. Extremely high and low protein diets(60%, 6%) were fed to the rats of different ages(6wks, 6mos.) for 2 weeks, Urinary Ca excretion was significantly increased in high protein groups of young and aged rats and GFR was increased as well. There was no difference in serum iPTH levels between low and high protein groups, but it was elevated in aged rats. Alkaline phosphatase activity was higher in young rats, reflecting faster bone formation. The observed hypercalciuria in high protein groups, especially in aged rats, seems to be related to higher GFR, and PTH dose not appear to be a major mediator.

In order to achieve this research purpose, the subject of this study was middle-aged female Buddhists at Temple H in Busan who were interested in 'Buddha Ball'. For the analysis method, empirical analysis was performed using the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design of this study. The main research results are as follows. First, as a result of examining the effect of Buddha Ball meditation on the quality of life, it could be seen that the overall quality of life had a significant positive (+) effect on the experimental group. Second, as a result of examining the effect of Buddha Ball meditation on self-esteem, it could be seen that self-esteem had a significant positive (+) effect on the experimental group. Third, as a result of examining the effect of Buddha Ball meditation on positive thinking, it could be seen that the entire positive thinking had a significant positive (+) effect on the experimental group. Based on these research results, the main conclusion was that the Buddha Ball, a healing meditation tool using the sound wave energy, had a positive effect on the self-esteem and quality of life of middle-aged women Buddhists. Accordingly, it is judged that the Buddha Ball meditation program has a positive use value for middle-aged women who are experiencing more complex psychological difficulties due to individual, family, and social environmental conditions. In addition, by preparing a system that can actively utilize the Buddha Ball meditation program educationally and politically, the implications of the justification and necessity of using it to improve the self-esteem, positive thinking and quality of life of middle-aged women were presented.

  • PURPOSE. To assess shear bond strengths (SBS) of resin composites on aged and non-aged prosthetic materials with various surface treatments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Cerasmart (CE), Vita Enamic (VE), Vita Mark II (VM), and IPS e.max CAD (EC) blocks were sliced, and rectangular-shaped specimens (14 × 12 × 1.5 mm; N = 352) were obtained. Half of the specimens were aged (5000 thermal cycles) for each material. Non-aged and aged specimens were divided into 4 groups according to the surface treatments (control, air abrasion, etching, and laser irradiation; n = 11) and processed for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The repair procedure was performed after the surface treatments. SBS values and failure types were determined. Obtained data were statistically analyzed (P≤.05). RESULTS. The material type, surface treatment type, and their interactions were found significant with regard to SBS (P<.001). Aging also had a significant effect on prosthetic material-resin composite bonding (P<.001). SBS values of non-aged specimens ranged from 12.16 to 17.91 MPa, while SBS values of aged specimens ranged from 9.46 to 15.61 MPa. Non-aged VM in combination with acid etching presented the highest score while the control group of aged CE showed the lowest. CONCLUSION. Etching was more effective in achieving durable SBS for VM and EC. Laser irradiation could be considered as an alternative surface treatment method to air abrasion for all tested materials. Aging had significant effect on SBS values generated between tested materials and resin composite.

  • Purpose: To determine the effect of Tai Chi exercise program on fatigue, stress, and quality of life in middle aged women. Method: The study was designed as a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study. Thirty subjects were assigned for experimental group and thirty four subjects were assigned for control group. The subjects in the experimental group were participated in Tai Chi exercise program for 60 minutes per session 3 times a week for 8weeks. Tai Chi exercise program consists of 10 minutes warm-up, 45 minutes main, and 5 minutes cooling down exercises. In order to evaluate the effect of Tai Chi exercise program, fatigue, stress, and qualify of life were assessed by measuring the condition of the participants in respect of fatigue, stress, and qualify of life with questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using $x^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, t-test by a SAS-pc+ 8.12 program. Result: After 8 weeks Tai Chi exercise program, there were significant improvement in fatigue, stress, and quality of life in middle aged women. Conclusion: Tai Chi exercise program can be an effective nursing intervention to improve fatigue, stress, and quality of life in middle aged women.

  • This study aims to provide basic data that can reduce middle-aged office workers' sense of mid-life crisis by investigating whether self-esteem moderates the effect of middle-aged office workers' retirement anxiety on their sense of mid-life crisis through gratitude. The survey subjects were 313 middle-aged office workers aged 40 to 65, and the data was analyzed using SPSS Win. Ver. 25 and SPSS PROCESS macro Ver. 4.1. Descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and moderated mediation effect analysis were applied. The research results are as follows. First, retirement anxiety showed a negative correlation with gratitude and self-esteem and a positive correlation with midlife crisis sense. Self-esteem played a moderated mediating role in buffering the effect of retirement anxiety on the midlife crisis sense through gratitude. It was confirmed that the gratitude and self- esteem of middle-aged office workers can be used as important variables that can act as protective factors when retirement anxiety increases the sense of mid-life crisis. Based on these results, when middle-aged office workers' anxiety about retirement hurts their sense of mid-life crisis, this study proposed a plan to prevent the sense of mid-life crisis by utilizing gratitude and self-esteem.

  • The purpose of this study deals with the profitable suit image design of middle-aged men by examining visual effects in physical design. The sample of this study is people who live in Kwangju, Korea and 20∼50age's men and women. And it is very variety in each population statistics factors the differences of physical design visual effect which considering the difference of sex and age, numbers of button, a figure and material pattern. The method of this study is experimentation. Accordingly, I used convenience sampling by considering sex and age distribution with the SPSS program for the data analysis. The difference of body design visual effect brought follow conclusion by demographics variability. The distinction of body design by sex and numbers of button, shoulders have similar differences only in men's group. The length has it both in man and woman's group. The dissimilarity of body design by age and the number of button, the shoulders have similar differences in 30 between 40 aged group and the abdomen has it in 30 aged group. The length has it in 20 between 40 and 50 aged group. In the three factors of body design by sex and shape either sex and pattern, both man and woman have similar differences by the pattern. Totally, number of button and pattern are very important clothes due to give an effect on whole visual effect man's suit. Also, these dues were felt differently by each types of body. Therefore, it is confirmed that the type of body is important that fluent to make people perceive.
