철도판형교 무근콘크리트 교각의 전도 보강기법 (Strengthening method against Overturn of Plain Concrete Gravity Pier for Open-Steel-Plate-Girder Railway Bridges)

  • Open-Steel-Plate-Girder railway bridges, in general, have plain concrete gravity pier without piles at foundations. Such piers are vulnerable to be overturned against braking forces and ground shakings during an earthquake. Thus, this study suggests a strengthening method using earth anchors to improve the resistance of plain concrete gravity piers to the overturn of themselves. Also, a filed test was performed for the as-built and the strengthened pier and the test results were compared to assess the strengthening effect. The earth anchors increased the ultimated capacity for the pier's overturn. Finally, a FE analysis was conducted using nonlinear elements for soil to understand the distribution of the soil stresses for the as-built and the strengthened pier.

  • This paper introduces a new type of driving mechanism for rescue robot that has a variable geometry single-track which satisfies the pre-conditions of rescue robot. This mechanism is a symmetric configuration that has dual directions and prepares against overturn. By using transformation, it can reduce the energy consumption in steering and rotating. And also it maximizes the ability to overcome obstacles, like steps. It is designed to make the size of robot compact and to have the low center of gravity in driving on steps. Finally, we optimized the design variables of components determining the shape of reverse-trapezoid frame to enhance the adaptability to 4 phases of climbing steps.

전복시 차량 옆문의 구조해석 (Structural Analysis of Vehicle Side Door at Overturn)

  • This study aims to analyze the structural safety by comparing deformation and equivalent stress of door with a stiffener or no stiffener when the door crashes against something in case of overturn. Three types are classified on the basis of the no stiffener model in the vehicle door. One is the type which has a stiffener. Another is the type which has no stiffener and the other is the type which has a hole in the stiffener. These three types are compared with each other by analyzing. This side door of vehicle is the automotive part about the kind of vehicle as Mercedes Benz E-Klasse scaled down as 1/18 times as the real size. The study model of vehicle door is modelled by CATIA program and it is analyzed by ANSYS.

  • Power tiller is a major unit of agricultural machinery being used on farms in Korea. About 180.000 units are introduced by 1977 and the demand for power tiller is continuously increasing as the farm mechanization progress. Major farming operations done by power tiller are the tillage, pumping, spraying, threshing, and hauling by exchanging the corresponding implements. In addition to their use on a relatively mild slope ground at present, it is also expected that many of power tillers could be operated on much inclined land to be developed by upland enlargement programmed. Therefore, research should be undertaken to solve many problems related to an effective untilization of power tillers on slope ground. The major objective of this study was to find out the travelling and tractive characteristics of power tillers being operated on general slope ground.In order to find out the critical travelling velocity and stability limit of slope ground for the side sliding and the dynamic side overturn of the tiller and tiller-trailer system, the mathematical model was developed based on a simplified physical model. The results analyzed through the model may be summarized as follows; (1) In case of no collision with an obstacle on ground, the equation of the dynamic side overturn developed was: $$\sum_n^{i=1}W_ia_s(cos\alpha cos\phi-{\frac {C_1V^2sin\phi}{gRcos\beta})-I_{AB}\frac {v^2}{Rr}}=0$$ In case of collision with an obstacle on ground, the equation was: $$\sum_n^{i=1}W_ia_s\{cos\alpha(1-sin\phi_1)-{\frac {C_1V^2sin\phi}{gRcos\beta}\}-\frac {1}{2}I_{TP} \( {\frac {2kV_2} {d_1+d_2}\)-I_{AB}{\frac{V^2}{Rr}} \( \frac {\pi}{2}-\frac {\pi}{180}\phi_2 \} = 0 $$ (2) As the angle of steering direction was increased, the critical travelling veloc\ulcornerities of side sliding and dynamic side overturn were decreased. (3) The critical travelling velocity was influenced by both the side slope angle .and the direct angle. In case of no collision with an obstacle, the critical velocity $V_c$ was 2.76-4.83m/sec at $\alpha=0^\circ$, $\beta=20^\circ$ ; and in case of collision with an obstacle, the critical velocity $V_{cc}$ was 1.39-1.5m/sec at $\alpha=0^\circ$, $\beta=20^\circ$ (4) In case of no collision with an obstacle, the dynamic side overturn was stimu\ulcornerlated by the carrying load but in case of collision with an obstacle, the danger of the dynamic side overturn was decreased by the carrying load. (5) When the system travels downward with the first set of high speed the limit {)f slope angle of side sliding was $\beta=5^\circ-10^\circ$ and when travels upward with the first set of high speed, the limit of angle of side sliding was $\beta=10^\circ-17.4^\circ$ (6) In case of running downward with the first set of high speed and collision with an obstacle, the limit of slope angle of the dynamic side overturn was = $12^\circ-17^\circ$ and in case of running upward with the first set of high speed and collision <>f upper wheels with an obstacle, the limit of slope angle of dynamic side overturn collision of upper wheels against an obstacle was $\beta=22^\circ-33^\circ$ at $\alpha=0^\circ -17.4^\circ$, respectively. (7) In case of running up and downward with the first set of high speed and no collision with an obstacle, the limit of slope angle of dynamic side overturn was $\beta=30^\circ-35^\circ$ (8) When the power tiller without implement attached travels up and down on the general slope ground with first set of high speed, the limit of slope angle of dynamic side overturn was $\beta=32^\circ-39^\circ$ in case of no collision with an obstacle, and $\beta=11^\circ-22^\circ$ in case of collision with an obstacle, respectively.

Analytical solution of seismic stability against overturning for a rock slope with water-filled tension crack

  • Steep rock slope with water-filled tension crack will happen to overturn around the toe of the slope under seismic loading. This failure type is completely different from the common toppling failure occurring in anti-dipping layered rock mass slopes with steeply dipping discontinuities. This paper presents an analytical approach to determine the seismic factor of safety against overturning for an intact rock mass slope with water-filled tension crack considering horizontal and vertical seismic coefficients. This solution is a generalized explicit expression and is derived using the moment equilibrium approach. A numerical program based on discontinuous deformation analysis (DDA) is adopted to validate the analytical results. The parametric study is carried out to adequately investigate the effect of horizontal and vertical seismic coefficients on the overall stability against overturning for a saturated rock slope under two water pressure modes. The analytical results show that vertically upward seismic inertia force or/and second water pressure distribution mode will remarkably decrease the slope stability against overturning. Finally, several representative design charts of slopes also are presented for the practical application.

  • 일반적인 이동 로봇의 주된 관심은 경로 생성과 생성된 경로 추종에 있다. 그러나 일부 고속의 이동성이 필요로 하는 로봇의 경우 동역학적 제한 조건이 존재하며, 이러한 제한 조건 내에서 원하는 움직임에 대한 제어가 요구된다. 된 논문에서 환경 지도를 가지고 있지 않은 상태, 즉 미지의 환경에서 이동 로봇의 경로 추종에 있어서 빠른 이동시에 발생할 수 있는 이동 로봇의 미끄러짐이나 전복 현상을 막기 위해 이동 로봇의 동역학적 제한 조건을 퍼지 논리를 이용하여 기준 속도를 변화시켜 안전하고 빠는 경로 추종 성능을 얻고자 하였다. 특히, 라인 추종 이동 로봇을 모델링하여 실시간으로 변화하는 목표점에 대한 추종 제어기를 설계하고 퍼지 최적 속도 제한 제어기를 통해 연속적으로 변화하는 라인에 대해서 지능적으로 로봇의 속도를 제한하여 안정적인 추종 성능을 발휘함을 확인하였다.

Dilemma of Multicultural Coexistence: Korean Schools in Japanese Society

  • In order to overturn the exclusion of Korean schools from the newly implemented free tuition program (2010) as part of sanctions against North Korea, members of Korean schools and Japanese supporters have focused on "students' innocence" and "multicultural coexistence" as viable frameworks to explain why the students are sympathetic and legitimate subjects who deserve equal rights. Examining different political strategies employed by the Korean schools and their supporters through ethnography and media analysis, the article pays close attention to how they claim their eligibility for these rights while they negotiate state surveillance and intervention in the process. I argue that in their efforts to gain recognition as deserving and sympathetic subjects, Korean schools are trapped in what political theorist Patchen Markell calls a "permanent temptation" in pursuing "recognition." Anti-North Korea sentiments in Japan have made the desire for good recognition even more urgent among Korean school community members. The paper will demonstrate that the search for recognition unwittingly reinforces and perpetuates existing relations of subordination and state dominance over their education as it has forced the Korean schools to accept various "conditions" that would radically alter the core principle, mission, and pedagogy of Korean school education that is rooted in decolonizing theory and praxis. This paper will shed lights on dilemma of multicultural coexistence the Korean minority population faces in Japan today.

홀드다운을 적용한 경골목조 벽체의 전단성능 (Racking Property of Light-framed Shear Wall with Hold-down Connector)

  • 건축구조 설계기준이 개정됨에 따라서 목조건축물의 제한 기준이 완화되어 경골 목조건축의 다층 시공이 가능하게 되었다. 건축물의 규모 증가는 건물에 작용하는 하중을 증가시키므로 증가된 작용하중에 맞추어 하중저항성능을 향상시켜 설계하고 시공해야 한다. 기존에는 경골 목조건축의 전단성능을 향상시키기 위하여 벽량을 보강하는 방법을 적용하였으나 본 연구에서는 홀드다운 접합철물을 사용하는 방법을 적용하였다. 홀드다운은 아직까지 국내에서 보편적이지 않은 접합철물이므로 홀드다운의 국내 적용 적합성을 평가하기 위하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. 홀드다운을 적용한 경골 목조 전단벽에 대하여 정적하중 시험을 통한 전단성능 평가 결과 홀드다운 적용 후에 전단벽의 초기강성, 항복하중 및 기준하중이 향상됨을 확인하였으며, 전단성능 향상에 따라 수평 변위와 전단변형의 증가율이 감소하는 것이 확인되었다. 홀드다운과 스터드의 접합방법에 따른 전단성능의 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 확인하였고, 홀드다운 제품 설계강도가 증가할수록 전단벽의 전단성능도 증가하는 경향이 나타났으나 그 차이가 제품 설계강도 차이에 비하여 크지 않은 것으로 판단되었다. 홀드다운을 설치하는 스터드의 규격에 따라서 89 mm 스터드를 사용한 경우와 38 mm 스터드를 두 겹으로 사용한 경우에 비슷한 성능을 나타내므로 38 mm 부재에 홀드다운을 설치할 경우는 스터드의 두께 보강을 통한 성능 향상이 필요하다고 판단하였다.

Solar concentrator optimization against wind effect

  • A solar concentrator is a reflective surface in the shape of a parabola that collects solar rays in a focal area. This concentrator follows the path of the sun during the day with the help of a tracking system. One of the most important issues in the design and construction of these reflectors is the force exerted by the wind. This force can sometimes disrupt the stability of the concentrator and overturn the entire system. One of the ways to estimate the force is to use the numerical solution of the air flow in three dimensions around the dish. Ansys Fluent simulation software has been used for modeling several angles of attack between 0 and 180 with respect to the horizon. From the comparison of the velocity vector lines on the dish at angles of 90 to - 90 degrees, it was found that the flow lines are more concentrated inside the dish and there is a tendency for the flow to escape around in the radial direction, which indicates the presence of more pressure distribution inside the dish. It was observed that the pressure on the concave surface was higher than the convex one. Then, the effect of adding a hole with various diameter of 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 mm on the dish was investigated. By increasing the diameter up to the optimized size of 400 mm, a decrease in the maximum pressure value in the pressure distribution was shown inside the dish. This pressure drop decreased the drag coefficient. The effect of the hole on the dish was also investigated for the 30-degree angled dish, and it was found that the results of the 90-degree case should be considered as the basis of the design.

마그리트 회화와 라캉의 주체론 - 응시, 세계와의 조우 (Magritte's drawings and Lacan's Subject theory: Gaze, Encounter with the world)

  • The subject is connected with a structure named "The Symbolic" to Lacan, but he denied that the subject is explained simply as a fruit of language and "Other". From his point of view, passing through Subject, De-formation and Crack over it is designated as foundation of generation and creation rather than our destined defect. It should not be understood that subject of "The Real" is a concept of the subject free itself from restraint of "The Symbolic". However, this does not mean he asserts "Subject" is something incapable of being controlled by the unknown power. The problem is that this autonomous existence meets inside of it with something "more than one's own self" by "circulating around itself" like a permanent star. This is the indication of a "stranger in the middle of my privacy", or "extimit$\'{e}$", a coined-word by Lacan. Perhaps "Subject" is nothing more than the name of distance of object which is "too hot" to come close, and of this circulating movement. It's because of this object that the real subject stands against generalization and the subject can't be restored to any place in symbolic order-even though it is empty. The part which is told from Lacan's structural theory, that is to say, an importance to Lacan is that his Subject theory is not suggested or denied as a manual structure. On the contrary, it is a study of the relationship between the settled symbol that included in "real subject which is a unconscious one" and the symbolic subject hold- that is a metaphysical subject in general meaning. In Lacan's enlarged concept of subject beyond symbolic reality, it is noticeable that it gives justifiability to the union of a medium of different nature in artistic expression. We can recognize that the unconscious world is a living space which enables it to be a "condition of human being", not something dark under the surface of water through Magritte's(Rene Magritte, 1898~1967) surrealistic works. In other words, Magritte's art secures a core dimension of human nature through a mysterious gap of conscious and settled space. Magritte's drawings often evokes strange and unsettling feelings in people who view his paintings. This is because routine objects are found in "unsuitable" places from which we usually find them in our everyday lives. "Reality" in Magritte's paintings makes it aware that it is a strained field of concealment and disclosure basically between truths, and we can learn that his behavior to overturn to paint in-visible things is finally an effort to restore the "real subject" to the viewer's reality. In other words, such reversion arouses a nostalgic desire for the objects existing in their original appearance as they are - natural condition that our gaze had not been distorted yet by anamorphic stains. - and the state when we are conscious of them normally. Such desire offers an opportunity for us to get out of mental depression rather than operates to us as an abnormal crack. It's a successive process of effort to search for lost subject and Paradise Lost facing up to reality of subject human that is to be a subject of world and life are ousted from their place by structure and authority of culture.
