  • Anti-glare (AG) coating films are applied to various display fields such as liquid crystal displays, LED lighting, and touch panels. In this study, micrometer-sized silica particles were added as fillers in the UV-curable coating solutions to provide anti-glare effect. During this process, the effects of the particle size, content, stirring time, and mixing ratio of silica particles of different sizes were investigated on the haze values and visible light transmittance of the coating films. As a result, as the size of the silica particles increased and the content of the silica particles increased, the haze values increased, but the visible light transmittance decreased. On the other hand, the stirring time did not significantly affect the haze value and transmittance of coating films. In addition, as the mixing ratio of large-sized silica particles increased, the haze value increased, but on the contrary, the visible light transmittance decreased.

  • We prepared Al doped ZnO/Ag/Al doped ZnO on the polymer substrate by Facing Target Sputtering (FTS). FTS featured Facing Target Sputtering featured that deposition is stable at the low pressure, it has high plasma density and suppresses the substrate damage from energetic particles. We fixed to 50nm up and down thickness of AZO layer, respectively and that of intermediate Ag layer was adjusted with deposition time. In the result, AZO/Ag/AZO multilayer thin films have much better electrical conductivity than AZO single layer thin film. As increasing the thickness of Ag layer, the transmittance decreased.

  • Effect of Ag additive element on microstructure of $Fe_{87-x}Zr_7B_6Ag_x$, magnetic thin films on Si(001) substrates has been investigated using Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM) and X-ray Diffraction(XRD). All samples with additive Ag element were made by DC-sputtering and subjected to annealing treatments of $300^{\circ}C{\siim}600^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. TEM and XRD showed that perfectly amorphous state in Ag-free Fe-based films was observed in as-deposited condition. The as-deposited Fe-based films with the presence of Ag constituent have a mixture of Fe-based amorphous and nano-sized Ag crystalline phases. In this case, additive element, Ag was soluted into Fe-based matrix. With the increase in additive element, Ag, insoluble nano-crystalline Ag particles were dispersed in the Fe-based amorphous matrix. Crystallization of Fe-based amorphous phase in the matrix of $Fe_{82}Zr_7B_6Ag_5$ thin films occurred at an annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$. Upon annealing, the amorphous-Ag crystalline state of Fe-Zr-B-Ag films was transformed into the mixture of Ag crystalline phase + Fe-based amorphous phase + ${\alpha}$-Fe cluster followed by the crystallization process of ${\alpha}$-Fe nanocrystalline + Ag crystalline phases.

  • A hepatitis B Surface Antigen(HBsAg)-screening kit using immunochromatographic assay(ICA) method was developed by e employing two kinds of antibodies. One is mouse monoclonal anti-HBs for tracer antibody and the other is goat p이yclonal a anti-HBs for capture antibody. This capture antibody was immobilized on the surface of nitroceliulose(NC) membrane and the t tracer antibody was conjugated with g미d particles. When serum sample was added to the sample well, the $\infty$njugates d deposited in a dry state on the surface of glass fiber filter were reconstituted and then combined with HBsAg in serum. In 5 5 min after adding, the assay result was visible through the window, that is, the complexes composed of HBsAg and the c conjugates appeared as maroon line on the lower part of the NC membrane. The detection limit of the ICA kit was 2 ng/ml w when being tested with the reference HBsAg.

  • In this study, phytochemicals present in Propolis Extract (PE) were employed as reducing and stabilizing reagents to synthesize silver nanoparticles. Three propolis-reduced silver nanoparticles (P-AgNPs1-3) were synthesized using increasing amounts of PE. P-AgNPs were treated with different cancer cells-lung (A549), cervix (HeLa) and colon (WiDr) - for 24, 48 and 72 h to evaluate their anti-proliferative activities. A non-cancerous cell type (L929) was also used to test whether suppressive effects of P-AgNPs on cancer cell proliferation were due to a general cytotoxic effect. The characterization results showed that the bioactive contents in propolis successfully induced particle formation. As the amount of PE increased, the particle size decreased; however, the size distribution range expanded. The antioxidant capacity of the particles increased with increased propolis amounts. P-AgNP1 exhibited almost equal inhibitory effects across all cancer cell types; however, P-AgNP2 was more effective on HeLa cells. P-AgNPs3 showed greater inhibitory effects in almost all cancer cells compared to other NPs and pure propolis. Consequently, the biological effects of P-AgNPs were highly dependent on PE amount, NP concentration, and cell type. These results suggest that AgNPs synthesized utilizing propolis phytochemicals might serve as anti-cancer agents, providing greater efficacy against cancer cells.

  • In the process for preparing Ag-coated Cu flakes by electroless silver plating using hydroquinone reducing agent, Ag coating qualities were compared by changing various process parameters such as type of pretreatment solution, plating temperature, pH of plating solution, type and injection rate of plating solution, and pulp density. Effective pretreatment solution for removing the oxide layer on a Cu flake was preferentially suggested. The conditions of low plating temperature, pH value of 4.34, slow injection rate of Ag plating solution, elimination of deionized water in the Ag plating solution, and high pulp density significantly suppressed the formation of separated tiny Ag particles, and thus the surface coverage of Ag coating on Cu flakes was enhanced.

  • Urechis unicinctus spermatogenic cells, sperm and spermatids, prepared from testis are investigated to identify nuclear actin using amoeba monorlonal anti-actin as the first Ab and gold particles (10 nm) conjugated mouse IgG (immunogold) as the Ab marker. The Ag-Ab reactions analyzed the localization of nuclear actin of the spermatogenic cells and the immunogold particles incorporated mainly with nuclear matrices. A few immunogold particles are merged into the acrosomes and the other architectures of spermatogenic cells, such as mitochondrion and centrioles. It is often observed and there is a tendency in which the incorporated immunogold particles are increased in number in the nuclear matrices of sperm compared with that of spermatids The increments and decrements of the incorporated immunogold particles according to developmental stages and the spermatogenic architec-tures are interpreted and discussed in aspect of acrosomal function and of nuclear condensation of spermatids.

  • As a preceding process for preparing several micrometer sized Ag-coated Cu flakes, ball milling of submicrometer-sized Cu particles synthesized through a wet chemical method was performed in order to convert the particles into flakes. To suppress oxidation and aggregation of the particles during ball milling, ethylene glycol and ethyl acetate were used as a medium and a surface modifying agent, respectively. Results obtained with different rotation speeds of a jar indicated that the rotation speed changes a rotating mode, and strikingly alters the final shapes and shape uniformity of Cu particles after milling. The diameter of zirconia ball was also confirmed. Although there was aggregates in the initial submicrometer-sized Cu particles, therefore, well-dispersed Cu flakes with a size of several micrometers were successfully prepared by ball milling through optimization of rotation speed, amount of ethyl acetate, and diameter of zirconia ball.

  • In this study, crystallization was effectively suppressed in Al-based metallic glasses (Al-MGs) during pulverization by cryo-milling by applying an extremely low processing temperature and using a surfactant. Before Al-MGs can be used as an additive in Ag paste for solar cells, the particle sizes of the Al-MGs must be reduced by milling. However, during the ball milling process crystallization of the Al-MG is a problem. Once the Al-MG is crystallized, they no longer exhibit glass-like behavior, such as thermoplastic deformation, which is critical to decrease the electrical resistance of the Ag electrode. The main reason for crystallization during the ball milling process is the heat generated by collisions between the particles and the balls, or between the particles. Once the heat reaches the crystallization temperature of the Al-MGs, they start crystallization. Another reason for the crystallization is agglomeration of the particles. If the initially fed particles become severely agglomerated, they coalesce instead of being pulverized during the milling. The coalesced particles experience more collisions and finally crystallize. In this study, the heat generated during milling was suppressed by using cryo-milling with liquid-nitrogen, which was regularly fed into the milling jar. Also, the MG powders were dispersed using a surfactant before milling, so that the problem of agglomeration was resolved. Cryo-milling with the surfactant led to D50 = 10 um after 6 h milling, and we finally achieved a specific contact resistance of 0.22 mΩcm2 and electrical resistivity of 2.81 μΩcm using the milled MG particles.

  • To synthesize a high-performance photocatalyst, N doped $TiO_2$ nanotubes deposited with Ag nanoparticles were synthesized, and surface characteristics, electrochemical behaviors, and photocatalytic activity were investigated. The $TiO_2$ nanotubular photocatalyst was fabricated by anodization; the Ag nanoparticles on the $TiO_2$ nanotubes were synthesized by a reduction reaction in $AgNO_3$ solution under UV irradiation. The XPS results of the N doped $TiO_2$ nanotubes showed that the incorporated nitrogen ions were located in interstitial sites of the $TiO_2$ crystal structure. The N doped titania nanotubes exhibited a high dye degradation rate, which is effectively attributable to the increase of visible light absorption due to interstitial nitrogen ions in the crystalline $TiO_2$ structure. Moreover, the precipitated Ag particles on the titania nanotubes led to a decrease in the rate of electron-hole recombination; the photocurrent of this electrode was higher than that of the pure titania electrode. From electrochemical and dye degradation results, the photocurrent and photocatalytic efficiency were found to have been significantly affected by N doping and the deposition of Ag particles.
