Novel Photoresponsive Polymer Materials Functionalized with Spirobenzopyran

  • We developed novel polymer materials composed of thermoresponsive pNIPAAm main chain and photo-resnposive side chains of spirobenzopyran, and analyzed the photoresponsive characteristrics of the aqueous solutions of these copolymers. Further, we prepared various photoresponsive hydrogels composed of the copolymer, and investigated the effect of light irradiation on their properties. As a result, the copolymer exhibited quite unique response to light irradiation and the change in temperature and pH. Especially the drastic photo-induced dehydration was observed in low pH conditions, and photo-induced micro-relief formation was demonstrated using the hydrogel layer composed of the polymer.

  • We developed a 4.5" 192${\times}$64 active matrix organic light-emitting diode display on a glass using organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) switching-arrays with two transistors and a capacitor in each sub-pixel. The OTFTs has bottom contact structure with a unique gate insulator and pentacene for the active layer. The width and length of the switching OTFT is 800${\mu}m$ and lO${\mu}m$ respectively and the driving OTFT has 1200${\mu}m$ channel width with the same channel length. On/off ratio, mobility, on-current of switching OTFT and on-current of driving OTFT were $10^6,0.3{\sim}0.5$ $cm^2$/V·sec, order of 10 ${\mu}A$ and over 100 ${\mu}A$, respectively. AMOLEDs composed of the OTFT switching arrays and OLEDs made using vacuum deposition method were fabricated and driven to make moving images, successfully.

Light Leakage Comparison in a Homogeneously Aligned Nematic Liquid Crystal Display Depending on an Angle between Polarizer Axis and Optic Axis of a Liquid Crystal

  • We have studied contrast ratio of a homogeneously aligned nematic liquid crystal (LC) display as a function of the angle between the polarizer axis and LC director. The results show that a cell configuration in which a polarizer axis facing a light source coincides with a short LC axis has a better process margin in terms of high contrast ratio than that of the cell coinciding with a long LC axis.

  • We have developed the technique of fabricating triode structure with simple stacking method using a polymer insulator that is suitable for large panel and the activation method after the fabrication. By the techniques, a test panel was manufactured and proves good emission property and uniformity.

  • In this study, we performed excimer laser activation on Phosphorus or Boron doped a-Si (amorphous silicon) film. We've got a very low sheet resistance (Rs), Rs was 60 ohm/sq. with phosphorus doping and was 65 ohm/sq. with boron doping at each optimized laser irradiation condition. We've found Rs on activated thin film showed an unprecedented behavior in both cases, because Rs had a strong dependency on the crystallinity of the activated Si film.

  • 본 연구에서는 ion bombardment에 의한 폴리머 기판의 손상을 줄이기 위해 FTS (Facing Target Sputtering) 장치를 이용하여 투명 전극용 ITO 박막을 합성하였다. 산소와 헬륨의 혼합비율을 변수로 하여 박막을 합성한 결과, 투명전극에 적합한 낮은 비저항과 80% 이상의 투과도를 갖는 박막을 합성할 수 있었다.

  • SSTF(Samsung Superconducting Test Facility) has been constructed at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology to test the KSTAR(Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) superconducting magnets and conductors. The SSTF DAC(Data Acquisition and Control) system basically consists of VME I/O modules, host PCs, and Ethernet links. VxWorks is used for the real-time OS of the VME IOC(Input/output Controller). EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) provides a software architecture for the communication between IOCs and host PCs. For the efficient management of measured data, the database management programs through NFS(Network File System) have been developed and successfully operated. In this paper, the current status of the SSTF DAC system, DBMS(DataBase Management System), recent test results, and future plans are presented.
