부모의 성격 및 자녀의 성격과 자녀의 심리적 적응 간의 관계 (The Relationship between Parent's and Offspring's Personality and Offspring's Psychological Adaptation)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between personality of parent and offspring, and offspring's psychological adaptation. Methods: We examined temperament and character of 65 parents and their offspring (measured using the Junior Temperament and Character Inventory and Temperament and Character Inventory) and offspring's internalizing (anxiety, depression) and externalizing (delinquency, hyperactivity) problems. Results: The internalizing problems of offspring were positively associated with harm avoidance (HA) of offspring and parent, and negatively associated with self-directedness (SD) of offspring and parent. The externalizing problems of offspring were positively associated with novelty seeking of offspring, and were predicted by SD of parent. The interaction between parent's HA and offspring's HA predicted higher levels of anxiety of offspring. Conclusion: The association between the offspring's personality and internalizing and externalizing problems can depend on the personality of the parent.

발달협응장애 동반 유무에 따른 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동들의 임상적 특성 (Clinical Characteristics in Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder with/or without Developmental Coordination Disorder Patients)

  • Objectives : This study explored the clinical differences in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) patients with and without developmental coordination disorder (DCD). Methods : Participants were 49 children and adolescents with ages between 6 and 18 years. These subjects were placed into 2 groups: ADHD without DCD (24) and ADHD with DCD (25). We used several evaluation tools on both groups: the Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Present and Lifetime Version- Korean Version (K-SADS-PL), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-III (WISC-IIII), Child Behavior Check List (CBCL), Korean Personality Rating Scale for Children (K-PRC), and Bruininks-Osretsky Test of Motor (BOT-2). Results : Patients with both ADHD and DCD had a lower performance intelligence quotient and more internal and external behavioral symptoms than patients with ADHD but not DCD. It is possible that patients with ADHD and motor coordination problems should be noticed earlier and given intensive treatment.

고등학생의 정신건강 관련 요인이 구강증상 경험에 미치는 영향 (The effects of mental health-related factors on experience of oral symptoms in high school students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data for a health promotion program by analyzing the effects of high school students' mental health-related factors on oral symptom experiences. Methods: This study included 24,833 high school students who participated in the screening and health survey in the "17th (2021) Adolescent Health Behavior Survey." SPSS software (SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0; IBM) was used for statistical analysis. Multiple sample logistic regression analysis was performed. The significance level was set to 0.05. Results: The result of the analysis on the effect of mental health revealed that oral symptom experience was low in students without depression and suicidal thoughts. Oral symptom experience was high in students with stress perception. Additionally, the experience of oral symptoms was low when there was sufficient subjective sleep. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop a customized oral health education program for early detection of oral symptoms and oral health promotion in high school students. Furthermore, it suggests the need for strategies and continuous oral health guidance to practice proper oral health habits to maintain healthy oral conditions.

Treatment, Education, and Prognosis of Slow Learners (Borderline Intelligence)

  • Objectives: Borderline intelligence has been excluded from formal diagnostic systems and not included in disability diagnoses, leaving gaps in treatment, education, and social welfare despite various functional impairments. Therefore, we aimed to shed light on ways to enhance the intelligence and functioning of individuals with borderline intelligence by reviewing research on its progression, education, and treatment. Methods: Ten studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the final literature review and analyzed according to detailed topics (participant characteristics, design, and results). Results: Borderline intelligence is associated with various comorbid conditions, such as anxiety, depression, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and addictive disorders, which negatively impact its course and prognosis. Individuals with borderline intelligence often face challenges in academics, employment, interpersonal relationships, and health owing to lifelong cognitive impairments. The treatment of borderline intelligence necessitates addressing environmental factors, such as neglect and abuse, as well as treating comorbid mental disorders, which are crucial for prognosis. Tailoring treatment programs for cognitive profile characteristics have been proposed, and studies have reported the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy, working memory training, and intensive rehabilitation training. Therefore, early intervention during childhood brain development is necessary. Risk factors, such as lack of parental education, and their impact on treatment outcomes have also been reported. Conclusion: Extensive research is needed on education, treatment, and prognosis related to borderline intelligence. Active intervention for children with borderline intelligence is essential to improve their functioning and quality of life.

심각한 소아 ${\cdot}$ 청소년 강박장애로 입원한 환아들의 특징 (THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT INPATIENTS WITH SEVERE OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER)

  • 연구목적:소아·청소년기 발병 강박장애는 낮은 약물반응, 높은 공존장애율, 강한 유전적 경향성을 가진다고 알려져 왔다. 그러나 현재까지 국내에서 소아·청소년기 발병 강박장애에 대한 연구는 극히 미미하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서울대학교병원 소아·청소년 정신과 병동에 입원한 강박장애 아동들을 대상으로 임상양상, 유전부하, 약물 반응양상, 퇴원후의 경과등을 조사하여, 심각한 증상을 보이는 소아·청소년 강박장애 군의 특성을 파악하려 하였다. 방 법:최근 9년사이에 서울대병원 소아·청소년 정신과에 입원한 환아 20명(남 16, 여 4)의 자료를 조사하였고 이를 대상으로 임상적 특성을 조사하였다. 진단 및 임상 상의 정확성을 유지하기 위해 의무기록지, 심리학적 보고서, 가족 면담 자료, 간호 보고서를 모두 고려하였고, 퇴원시 확정된 진단을 일차진단으로 하였다. 결 과:1) 환아의 성비는 남성이 4:1로 우위였다. 2) 강박사고에 있어서 가장 흔한 형태는 병적의심이었고, 이어서 더러움에 대한 공포, 공격적 사고, 대칭에의 요구, 성적 강박 사고였다. 강박행동에서 가장 흔한 내용은 확인, 씻기, 숨쉬기, 움직임, 대칭, 반복적 질문, 물건수집, 정신적 강박행동 등이었다. 3) 가장 흔한 공존 장애는 우울증이었고, 그 다음으로는 다른 불안장애, 틱장애, 품행장애, 반항장애였다. 드물게 강박사고에 대한 현실검증력이 손상된 것으로 판단되는 아동도 발견되었다. 4) 정신과 질환에 대한 가족력을 살펴본 결과, 17 가족(85%)에서 2차 친척 중 정신과 장애를 앓는 사람이 발견되었다. 그리고, 강박 스펙트럼 장애로 의심되는 친척을 둔 아동이 전체의 45%(9명)이었다. 5) 약물치료로서 사분의 삼 정도의 환아들(75%)이, SSRI와 항정신병약물을 함께 복용하고 있었고, 치료 반응상 CGI에서 중등도 호전(moderate improved) 이상을 보이는 경우가 75%로 파악되었다. 6) 퇴원 후의 외래 추적 결과, 지속적인 증상의 관해를 보인 경우는 5명(25%)이었고, 부분적인 증상을 가진 채 만성적으로 지속되는 경우가 10명(50%)이었다. 결 론:심각한 소아·청소년 강박장애약물 환아들의 임상상을 국내에서는 최초로 체계적으로 조사하였다. 그 결과, 높은 공존장애율, 높은 정신과장애의 가족력, 높은 항정신병약물 복용을 보이는 것으로 조사되었다. 증상면에서도 공격적-성적 강박사고의 비율이 높았으며, 숨쉬기, 움직이기 등의 특이한 강박행동이 발견되었다. 치료로서 사분의삼 정도의 환아들(75%)이, SSRI와 항정신병약물을 함께 복용하고 있었고, 치료 반응상 CGI에서 중등도 호전(moderate improved) 이상을 보이는 경우가 75%로 파악되었다.

청소년의 심리건강 영향요인: 음주의 매개효과 (Factors Affecting the Mental Health of Adolescents : Mediating Effects of Alcohol Drinking)

  • 이 연구는 청소년들의 우울, 스트레스 등 심리건강 폐해의 심각성을 인지하고 이에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 사회적 지지의 효과를 분석하였다. 가족, 학교, 친구관계 등의 사회적 지지와 청소년의 심리건강간의 구조적인 관계를 검증하고자 하였으며, 이 과정에서 문제음주의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 연구 자료는 제주도를 제외한 전 지역의 청소년을 모집단으로 하여 2010년 한국청소년정책연구원에서 시행한 "2010한국청소년건강실태조사"의 원자료에서 연구에 적합한 청소년 942명을 최종 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 연구결과, 가족 구성원의 바람직한 기능과 역할은 청소년의 심리건강을 증진시키는 효과가 있었다. 반면, 올바른 역할을 하지 못하는 가족은 청소년에게 문제음주를 유발시켜 우울, 스트레스, 분노 등 청소년의 심리건강에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 음주나 흡연을 하는 친구가 많을수록 문제음주를 유발해 심리건강을 악화시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 이 연구결과 생애주기적 관점에서 신체적, 정신적으로 외부 변화에 민감한 청소년들의 심리건강을 증진시키기 위해 가족, 친구관계 등 사회적 지지 시스템을 구축하는 것이 중요하다고 하겠다.

가출청소년에서 학대력과 정신병리와의 관계 (Relation between Abuse History and Psychopathology in Runaway Sheltered Adolescents)

  • Objectives : This study examined psychopathology, abuse history and the relation of them in sheltered runaway adolescents. The purpose is to investigate characteristics of adolescents who are in shelters according to abuse type and then to offer basic data which are needed in establishing comprehensive protection policy for runaway adolescents. Methods : One hundred twenty eighty adolescents who stay in the runaway shelters were asked to complete self-report questionnaires including basic sociodemographic data, Korean Youth Self Report (K-YSR), Minnestota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) and then examined the correlation of psychopathology and abuse in runaway adolescents. Results : In abused runaway adolescents, social performance scale of K-YSR was higher than school performance sealer and among scales of behavioral problem syndrome delinquent scale was highest. Scales of behavioral problem syndrome showed relatively significant correlation with abuse history. In MMPI scale of psychopathic deviate scale was highest, social introversion showed significant correlation with emotional abuse, and psychopathic deviate and hypomania showed significant correlation with physical abuse, neglect and sexual abuse. In SCL-90-R somatization scale was highest. Scales of somatization, hostility, and paranoid ideation scale were significantly high in adolescents with emotional abuse and neglect history, and scores of anxiety and depression scale were significantly high in sexually abused adolescents. Conclusion : Runaway adolescents who had abuse experience showed significantly higher level of psychopathology than general adolescents and there were various interrelations between them according to the presence and the type of abuse. More precise psychiatric evaluation and detailed treatment intervention for runaway adolescents are needed.

The Moderating Effect of Working Memory on the Relationship between Inattention and Aggressive Behavior in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

  • Objectives: Although aggressive behavior in children and adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has previously shown correlations with hyperactivity/impulsivity, few studies have examined its association with inattention or the effect of working memory on aggressive behavior. This study aimed to assess the relationship between inattention and aggressive behavior and the effect of working memory on the relationship between inattention and aggressive behavior in children and adolescents with ADHD. Methods: Thirty-one children and 26 adolescents with ADHD were retrospectively investigated. The subjects completed the Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition (K-WISC-IV), the Korean Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), and the Korean Children's Depression Inventory (CDI). Results: Inattention was positively correlated with aggressive behavior in children and adolescents with ADHD and working memory showed an insignificant correlation. However, working memory had a significant moderating effect on aggressive behavior by interacting with inattention. The moderating effect of working memory manifested when the working memory index score on the K-WISC-IV was 73.5 points or higher, and it had a significant effect on aggressive behavior. Conclusion: This study shows that the severity of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity should be addressed to provide appropriate treatment to children and adolescents with ADHD who exhibit aggressive behavior.

청소년의 주관적 건강 상태의 변화 궤적과 영향 요인: 잠재성장모형을 적용하여 (Analyzing Changes and Determinants of Self-rated Health during Adolescence: A Latent Growth Analysis)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine changes in the self-rated health of adolescents and to identify its predictors using longitudinal data from the KCYPS. Methods: A sample of 2,351 adolescents who were in the first grade of middle school in 2010 was analyzed. The study employed latent growth analysis using data from 2010 to 2016. Results: Results indicated that self-rated health of adolescents increased, following the form of a linear function. The analyses revealed that adolescent self-perception of health were conceptualized not only by their health-related behaviors, but also by personal, socioeconomic and psychological factors. Specifically, physical activity, passive leisure time activities, gender (initial: b=-.060, slope: b=.030), place of residence (initial: b=-.079), self-rated economic condition (b=.098), working status of mother (b=.016), monthly family income (b=-.001), aggression (b=.061), depression (initial: b=-.104, slope: b=.012), stress (initial: b=-.172, slope: b=.014, ego-resiliency (initial: b=.197, slope: b=-.021), and self-esteem (initial: b=.106, slope: b=-.017) had significant effects on the overall linear change of self-rated health (p<.05 for all estimators above). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that adolescents' self evaluation of their health is shaped by their total sense of functioning, which includes individual, health-related behavioral, socioeconomic, and psychological factors.

청소년의 신체활동과 주관적 행복감 간의 관련성 (Association between Physical Activities and Subjective Well-being among Korea Adolescent)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between participation in physical activities (PA) and subjective well-being. Methods: We analyzed the data from Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, 2013 containing 36,655 and 35,780 for male and female students respectively. Study variables included PA, participation in physical education class, participation in team sports and subjective well-being. Control variables were school type, socio-economic status, level of parent education, living with parent, academic performance, delinquent behaviors, depression and perceived health. For this study, descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: Among boys, after adjusting for control variables, PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 4 times: OR 1.306), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.140), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.206) were associated with subjective well-being. Among girls, control variables were adjusted. PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs over 4 times: OR 1.244), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.161), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.181) were associated with subjective well-being. Conclusions: Participation in physical activities may help adolescent promote their life satisfaction. Thus, education experts should develop various exercise curriculums to encourage participation in physical activities.
