Polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) have received a lot of attention as a power source for both stationary and mobile applications due to their attractive feature. In general, the performance of PEFCs is highly affected by the property of the electrodes. A PEFC electrode essentially consists of a gas diffusion layer and a catalyst layer. The gas difusion layer is highly porous and hydrophobicized with PTFE polymer. The catalyst layer usually contains electrocatalyst, proton conducting polymer, even PTFE as additive. Particularly, the proton conducting ionomer helps to increase the catalytic activity at three-phase boundary and catalyst utilization. Futhermore, it helps to retain moisture, resulting in preventing the electrodes from membrane dehydration. The most widely used proton conducting ionomer is perfluorinated sulfonic acid polymer, namely, Nafion from DuPont due to its high proton conductivity and good mechanical property. However, there are great demands for alternative ionomers based on non-fluorinated materials in terms of high temperature availability, environmental adaptability and production cost. In this study, the electrodes with the various content of the sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) ionomer in the catalyst layer were prepared. In addition, we evaluated electrochemical properties of the prepared electrodes containing the various amount of the ionomers by using the cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy to find an optimal ionomer composition in the catalyst layer.
In this study, the effect of characteristics of colloidal silica, which was used as an additive in the compression/coating catalyst process, on activities and thermal stabilities of the catalysts was investigated. The shape, size, specific surface area and porosity, and composition of four different types of colloidal silica materials were analyzed, and the NOx conversion of V2O5/TiO2 catalyst prepared by these colloidal silica were studied. Properties of the catalysts prepared by colloidal silica depend on the nature of the colloidal silica used, in particular the alkaline substances such as Na in the silica were evaluated to be directly effect on the deNOx conversion of the catalyst. In addition, higher silica contents in the colloidal silica were found to improve the deNOx activity and thermal stability of the catalyst.

This paper presents an experimental analysis of the growth and oxidation processes of soot particles generated in an isooctane diffusive laminar flame due to incomplete combustion. The effects of iron-based diagnostics were employed to measure the elastic scattering light from soot particles in a flame at different flame heights, and the differential scattering coefficients were calculated through a calibration process. The growth and oxidation of soot particles in flame was investigated by comparing differential scattering coefficients, and the soot volume fraction was seen to decrease in the soot oxidation process. In the same manner, the differential scattering coefficients were calculated for iron-based fuel-additive seeded flame, and these coefficients were revealed to be smaller than those obtained in the fuel-additive unseeded flame. In addition, transmission through the radial direction of the flame was measured, and transmission in the soot oxidation regime was approximately 5% higher for the seeded flame. The propensity of the data coincided well with the differential scattering coefficients, and it can be concluded that the iron component of the fuel additive plays a crucial role as a catalyst, which eventually enhanced soot particle oxidation.

Carbon coils could be synthesized using $C_2H_2/H_2$ as source gases and $SF_6$ as an incorporated additive gas under thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system. Prior to the carbon coils deposition reaction, two kinds of samples having different combination of Ni catalyst and substrate were employed, namely, a commercially-made $Al_2O_3$ ceramic boat with Ni powders and a commercially-made $Al_2O_3$ substrate with Ni layer. By using a commercially-made $Al_2O_3$ ceramic boat, the synthesis of carbon coils could be enhanced as much as 10 times higher than that of $Al_2O_3$ substrate. Furthermore, the dominant formation of the microsized carbon coils could be obtained by using $Al_2O_3$ ceramic boat. The surface roughness of the supporting substrate of $Al_2O_3$ ceramic boat was understood to be associated with the large scale synthesis of carbon coils as well as the dominant formation of the larger-sized, namely the microsized carbon coils.

In this paper, by using the electrophoresis, preparation of YBCO superconducting wire deposited on metal Ag base wire was studied with its Properties. YBCO Powder could be prepared by solid state reactions with calcining and sintering processes. Superconducting wire prepared on metal Ag wire used as cathode of deposition base could be also fabricated in the YBCO/acetone-dispersed solution to obtain several tens of re thick films. And then it could be used as superconducting wire for measurement after calcination, sintering and oxygen absorption processes. In the process of film deposition, a catalyst I$_2$added into the suspension solution was very useful for preparing thick film of YBCO, and BaF$_2$ of additive material was also necessary for preparing crack-free wire of YBCO superconductor. As a result, YBCO superconducting wire added 2~3wt.% of BaF$_2$\ulcorner with catalyst, 12 had better deposition condition for uniform and dense YBCO wires, and critical current density, Jc was calculated at the value of 1,458A/$\textrm{cm}^2$(more than 10$^{3}$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ ,77K, o[T]) of 30${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick sample by 4 point prove method.
This study shows an air-purification test by the UV lamp on which TiO2 catalyst is deposited with glass fiber in the reactor chamber. This test was based on the fundamental data of air-purifier as assessing a removing ability on various contaminants such as CH3COOH, NH3, NO and SO2 as variation of the TiO2 coating, the wave of UV lamp, and the additive CaO. As a result, the highest decomposing removal ratio was shown when 5-times coated glass fiber was used. It can be due to the recombination reaction of electrons and electron-hole in the loaded CaO. Thus, the decomposing removal ratio increased as the recombination ratio decreased. In addition, it was confirmed that the decomposing removal ratio lowered when CaO was considerably deposited because it hided the lamp of OH-1 radical.
Reusing of electroless Ni-Cu-P waste solution was investigated in the plating time, plating rate, solution composion and deposit. Plating time of nickel-catalytic surface took longer than that of zincated-catalytic surface. Initial solution with 50f) waste solution additive at batch type was possible to reusing of waste solution. Plating time of initial solution at continuous type took longer 10 times over than that of batch type. Plating time of 50% waste solution additive at continuous type took longer 3.7 times over than that of batch type. Component change of nickel-copper for electroless deposition was greatly affected by depolited inferiority and larger decreased plating rate.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the thin fihn dielectric made of hybrid sol, which consist of barium titanate powder, polymeric sol and other polymers. This sol will be used dielectric applied to small, thin electric passive components such as MLCC(Multi Layer Ceramic Condenser), resister, inductor. This sol is composed of mixed fine barium titanate powder and polymeric sol including Ba, Ti-precursor, solvent, chelating agent, chemical reaction catalyst, the additive sols to improve fired densification and temperature reliability. First at all, we mixed hybrid sol to be dispersed and be stabilized by ball milling for 24hrs. By spin coating method, we makes thin film dielectric on the convectional green sheet for MLCC. After heat treatments, we analyzes the structure morphology, physical, electrical properties and X5R Temperature properties.

The effect of compositional and processing variables on a nitriding reaction of silicon powder compact and subsequent post sintering of RBSN (Reaction-Bonded Silicon Nitride) was investigated. The addition of a nitriding agent enhanced nitridation rate substantially at low temperatures, while the formation of a liquid phase between the nitriding agent and the sintering additives at a high temperature caused a negative catalyst effect resulting in a decreased nitridation rate. A liquid phase formed by solely an additive, however, was found to have no effect on nitridation for the additive amount used in this research. The original site of a decomposing pore former was loosely filled by a reaction product ($Si_3N_4$), which provided a specimen with nitriding gas passage. For SRBSN (Sintered RBSN) specimens of high porosity, only a marginal dimensional change was measured after post sintering. Its engineering implication for near-net shaping ability is discussed.
Reusing of electroless Ni-Cu-B waste solution was investigated in the plating time, plating rate, solution composition and deposit. Plating time of nickel-catalytic surface took longer than that of zincated-catalytic surface. Initial solution with 40% waste solution additive at batch type was possible to reusing of waste solution. Plating time of initial solution at continuous type took longer 6 times over than that of batch type. Plating time of 40% waste solution additive at continuous type took longer 2 times over than that of batch type. Component change of nickel-copper for electroless deposition was greatly affected by deposited inferiority and larger decreased plating rate.
