  • While investigating the Lauricella's list of 14 complete second-order hypergeometric series in three variables, Srivastava noticed the existence of three additional complete triple hypergeo-metric series of the second order, which were denoted by $H_A$, $H_B$ and $H_C$. Each of these three triple hypergeometric functions $H_A$, $H_B$ and $H_C$ has been investigated extensively in many different ways including, for example, in the problem of finding their integral representations of one kind or the other. Here, in this paper, we aim at presenting further integral representations for the Srivatava's triple hypergeometric function $H_C$.

  • Calibrating toll roads of highway networks needs additional weights within volume delay functions not like other general highway lints. However, current methods assigning additional weights in the volume delay function of toll roads are not sufficiently enough to predict real toll road volumes measured, since it does not consider discounting rates and an extra charges. This study develops methods to improve relevant and reliable volume delay functions. Suggested ideas include a method of weighting volume delay functions considering a value of time of vehicle types, a method of weighting volume delay functions considering lane distributions of vehicles, and a method of weighting volume delay functions considering percentages of link lengths per a number of lanes of toll roads. It is found that the method of weighting volume delay functions considering lane distributions of vehicles show most reliable and appropriate results, while the first method shows overestimation and the third method does underestimation of highway link volumes. In terms of assignment methods, total OD equilibrium assignment shows better results than PCU based assignment.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of taping intervention in patients with stroke through a review analysis of taping interventions used to enhance physical function and activity in patients with stroke. We searched randomized controlled trials using electronic databases. We also manually reviewed sources to identify additional relevant studies. Taping intervention is an approach to treat individuals with impaired physical function and activity. Taping interventions affect body functions by providing increased muscle strength, proprioceptive sensation, and range of motion, as well as decreased rigidity and pain. Taping interventions also improve walking, balance and arm functions, such as physical activity. Taping intervention for patients with stroke has been shown to be highly effective and is therefore strongly recommended; however, it is suggested that it be further developed to improve its efficacy as an intervention method and to create additional taping methods.

  • Purpose This study aims to introduce a Smart-Platform for solving numerous problems in urban cities and improving citizens' convenience. This Smart-Platform is achieved by studying the City Data Hub technology to build and spread a Smart City Data Hub . Design/methodology/approach In this study, we analyzed the functions in detail and interlocking flows specific to the published City Data Hub module and designed a Smart-Platform with additional UI-based functions to improve users' convenience based on our previous experience. Findings The City Data Hub will provide a modular data hub platform functionality for application by different stakeholders. However, further research on detailed functionality and experience in interworking legacy systems will be required to apply the platform realistically. Therefore, we judged that this Smart-Platform, which supplements the City Data Hub with additional functions, would be useful for utilizing the City Data Hub in the future. Through the demonstration of the platform designed, it is also necessary to explore the direction of continuous development for the future.

  • This paper intends to present an application of isogeometric analysis in crack problems. An isogeometric formula is developed based on NURBS basis functions - enriched and adopted via X-FEM enrichment functions. The proposed method which is represented by the combination of the two above-mentioned methods, first by using NURBS functions models the geometry exactly and then by defining level set function on domain, identifies available discontinuity in elements. Additional DOFs are allocated to elements containing the crack and X-FEM enrichment functions enrich approximate solution. Moreover, a subelement refinement technique is used to improve the accuracy of integration by the Gauss quadrature rule. Finally, several numerical examples are illustrated to demonstrate the effectiveness, robustness and accuracy of the proposed method during calculation of crack parameters.

  • Design structure of a mobile phone has been changed to a converged style, which has so many functions. However, the converged mobile phone could not satisfy the users who want to use only specific functions, so with Axiomatic Design, we have studied for making a proposal to set up the new concept. The goal of this study is to derive a general solution with Axiomatic Design to verify the Independence. By enhancing the existing design model and differentiating the function of mobile phone, user will be able to choose desirable products, which have only specific functions and/or specific parts. First of all, we checked the Independence about the existing design model. Then, we developed the new design model with the idea that base mobile phone should have basic functions and additional functions can be separated, surely be connected when users want.

  • Objective: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate potential effects of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) on motor functions in postmenopausal women. Method: In this meta-analysis, 19 studies that examined changes in motor functions between postmenopausal women with and without HRT intervention were qualified. We additionally conducted moderator variable analyses including: (1) motor function type, (2) hormone type, and (3) duration of HRT intervention. Results: The random effects model showed no significant overall effects (SMD = 0.199; SE = 0.115; 95% CI = -0.026~0.425; Z = 1.730; p = 0.084; I2 = 93.258%). Additional three moderator variable analyses revealed no significant effect sizes indicating that specific HRT protocols did not improve different motor functions in postmenopausal women. Conclusion: These meta-analytic findings suggest that HRT had no positive effects on motor functions in postmenopausal women.

  • This paper presents a new stable composite control law for the flexible joint robot manipulators, which incorporate the additional stabilizing control law with sliding property. The singularly perturbated models include inertia moments functions of the deformations of actuator. The newly defined fast controller variable is computed from the corrected reduced-order model without additional computational loads. The simulations for 2 DOF flexible joint manipulator show that the proposed schemes are more stable than conventional one, and especially effective for the manipulator with high joint-flexibilities.
