  • Brushless DC motors are widely used in many industrial fields as an actuator of robot and driving power motors of electrical vehicle. In this paper adaptive fuzzy sliding mode scheme is developed for velocity control of brushless DC motor. The proposed scheme does not require an accurate dynamic model. yet it guarantees asymptotic trajectory tracking despite torque variations. Numerical simulation and DSP-based experimental works for velocity control of brushless DC motor are carried out.

  • This paper investigates an improved stator flux linkage observer for sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives using a voltage-based flux linkage model and an adaptive sliding mode variable structure. We propose a new observer design that employs an improved sliding mode reaching law to achieve better estimation accuracy. The design includes two models and two adaptive estimating laws, and we illustrate that the design is stable using the Popov hyper-stability theory. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed estimator accurately calculates the speed, the stator flux linkage, and the resistance while overcoming the shortcomings of traditional estimators.

  • A DSP-based robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) which is robust to unknown parameter variations and speed measurement error is presented. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of slowly varying parameters are derived using the Lyapunov stability theory. For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters. a quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • Hydraulic excavators are the representative of field robot and have been used in various fields of construction. Since the excavator operates in the hazardous working environment, operators of excavator are exposed in harmful environment. Therefore, the hydraulic excavator automation and remote operation system has been investigated to protect from the hazardous working environment. In this paper, remote operation excavator system is developed using the mini hydraulic excavator and the tracking control system of each links of excavator is designed. To apply the tracking control system, the adaptive sliding mode control algorithm is proposed. It is found that the performance of the proposed control system is improved through experimental results of using the remote operation excavator system.

  • A nonlinear adaptive speed observer is designed for the sensorless control of induction motors. In order to design the speed observer, the measurements of the stator currents and the estimates of the rotor fluxes are used. The sliding mode cascade observer is designed to estimate the time derivatives of the stator currents. The open-loop observer is designed to estimate the rotor fluxes and its time derivatives using the stator current derivatives. The adaptive observer is also designed to estimate the rotor resistance. Sequentially, the rotor speed is calculated using these estimated values. It is shown that the estimation errors of the corresponding states and the parameters converge to the specified residual set. It is also shown that the speed controller using these estimates is performed well. The simulation examples are represented to investigate the validity of the proposed observers for the sensorless control of induction motors.

  • In this paper, a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics and control model has been developed for a virtual reality intelligent vehicle simulator. The simulator consists of low PCs for a virtual reality visualization system, vehicle dynamics and control analysis system a control loading system, and a network monitoring system. Virtual environment is created by 3D Studio Max graphic tool and OpenGVS real-time rendering library. A real-time vehicle dynamics and control model consists of a control module based on the sliding mode control for adaptive cruise control and a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics module based on the subsystem synthesis method. To verify the real-time capability of the model, cut-in, cut-out simulations have been carried out.

The proposed algoritm is estimated the rotor position and generator speed using adaptive sliding mode observer. The vector control of generator at the machine side converter and the converter at the grid side are controlled to obtain maximum torque and to regulate unity power factor respectively. • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for nonlinear systems without parameter projection method. By modifying the controller structure, the parameters of the estimated input gain function are guaranteed not being identically zero and it is shown that the control scheme will not cause any implementation problem even if the estimated value of input gain function is zero at any moment during on-line operations. Except for the input gain function which an approximate estimate for its lower bound is needed, the proposed control scheme does not assume a priori the exact values of the bounding parameters. Based on Lyapunov synthesis methods, the overall control system guarantees that the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero and that all signals involved in controller are uniformly bounded. This can be illustrated by the simulation results for an inverted pendulum system.
