The use of data mining methods for dystocia detection in Polish Holstein-Friesian Black-and-White cattle

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the usefulness of artificial neural networks (ANN), multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), naïve Bayes classifier (NBC), general discriminant analysis (GDA), and logistic regression (LR) for dystocia detection in Polish Holstein-Friesian Black-and-White heifers and cows and to indicate the most influential predictors of calving difficulty. Methods: A total of 1,342 and 1,699 calving records including six categorical and four continuous predictors were used. Calving category (difficult vs easy or difficult, moderate and easy) was the dependent variable. Results: The maximum sensitivity, specificity and accuracy achieved for heifers on the independent test set were 0.855 (for ANN), 0.969 (for NBC), and 0.813 (for GDA), respectively, whereas the values for cows were 0.600 (for ANN), 1.000 and 0.965 (for NBC, GDA, and LR), respectively. With the three categories of calving difficulty, the maximum overall accuracy for heifers and cows was 0.589 (for MARS) and 0.649 (for ANN), respectively. The most influential predictors for heifers were an average calving difficulty score for the dam's sire, calving age and the mean yield of the farm, where the heifer was kept, whereas for cows, these additionally included: calf sex, the difficulty of the preceding calving, and the mean daily milk yield for the preceding lactation. Conclusion: The potential application of the investigated models in dairy cattle farming requires, however, their further improvement in order to reduce the rate of dystocia misdiagnosis and to increase detection reliability.

  • 본 논문에서는 고속 무선 홈 네트워크를 위한 UWB 기술 기반 WiMedia Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) 프로토콜에서 실시간 트래픽을 위한 공평한 QoS 제공 방법에 초점을 맞추어 현재 D-MAC 프로토콜의 문제점을 제시하고, 공평하고 분산적인 타임슬롯 자원 할당 방법을 제안하며, 그 성능을 분석한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 타임슬롯 자원 할당 방법은 Satisfaction of QoS (SoQ) 알고리즘을 각 단말 디바이스에서 분산적으로 실행함으로써, 현재 트래픽 부하 상태에 대한 최적의 타임 슬롯들을 디바이스들에게 할당하여 공평하고 적응적인 QoS 제공을 가능하게 한다.

기후변화에 따른 대청호 유역의 물 순환 및 토양 유실량 영향 (Impact of Climate Change on Water Cycle and Soil Loss in Daecheong Reservoir Watershed)

  • The study was aimed to assess the expected impact of climate change on the water cycle and soil losses in Daecheong Reservoir watershed, Korea using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) that was validated for the watershed in a previous study. Future climate data including precipitation, temperature and humidity generated by introducing a regional climate model (Mesoscale Model Version 5, MM5) to dynamically downscale global circulation model (European Centre Hamburg Model Version 4, ECHAM4) were used to simulate the hydrological responses and soil erosion processes in the future 100 years (2001~2100) under the Special Report on Emissions Scenario (SRES) A1B. The results indicated that the climate change may increase in the amount of surface runoff and thereby sediment load to the reservoir. Spatially, the impact was relatively more significant in the subbasin Bocheongcheon because of its lower occupation rate of forest land compared to other subbasins. Seasonally, the increase of surface runoff and soil losses was more significant during late summer and fall season when both flood control and turbidity flow control are necessary for the reservoir and downstream. The occurrence of extreme turbidity flow events during these period is more vulnerable to reservoir operation because the suspended solids that remained water column can be resuspended by vertical mixing during winter turnover period. The study results provide useful information for the development of adaptive management strategy for the reservoir to cope with the expected impact of future climate change.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11e MAC의 모니터링과 제어가 가능하도록 제작된 QWLAN(Quality Wireless LAN) 보드를 장착한 네트워크에서 적응적인 고선명 스케일러블 비디오(Scalable Video Coding: SVC) 스트리밍 시스템의 성능을 보여준다. 제작된 MAC 보드에서 실시간으로 측정된 MAC 파라미터들을 이용하여 예측한 가용 대역폭에 적응적으로 추출할 비디오 데이터를 결정한다. 이를 위하여, 기존 SVC 비디오 패킷 추출방식보다 R-D(Rate-Distortion) 곡선 관점에서 우수한 추출방식을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법을 적용한 실험을 통하여, 무선 채널 상황에 빠르게 적응하여 비디오 스트리밍의 품질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • 버스 전용차선 번호판 인식 시스템은 차량 검출 및 영상 획득 , 번호판 영역 추출 개별문자 추출, 문자인식 및 데이터 전송의 5가지 핵심부분으로 구성된다. 이 중에서도 번호판 추출의 정확성은 전체 시스템 인식률에 지대한 영향을 줄 수 있는 부분이며 다양한 날씨 및 주위 환경 변화에서도 정확한 추출을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 검출 시간의 단축을 위해 획득된 영상을 피라미드 구조로 만든 후 번호판 템플릿의 영역을 이진화하고 번호판의 분포를 가지는 후보영역을 추출한다. 추출된 후보 영역 중 번호판 문자 분포의 특성을 이용한 검증과정을 통해 최종영역을 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법을 버스 전용차선 도로에서 획득한 영상에 적용한 결과 다양한 날씨와 주위 환경변화에서도 번호판 영역이 정확이 추출됨을 확인하였다.

  • 멀티미디어 어플리케이션들은 기존의 화일 서버 기법으로는 쉽게 제공하지 못하는 보장된 검색 및 전송률을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 CM(Continuous Media : 예를 들어 비디오) 서버를 위한 동적 협상 수락 제어(dynamic negotiated admission control)와 자원 스케줄링(resource scheduling) 기법을 제안한다. 이는 두 부분으로 구성되는데, 예약 기반 수락 제어 방법(reserve-baed admission control mechanism)과 동적으로 자원을 할당하는 스케줄러가 그것이다. 정적 스케줄러와 비교할 때, 제안된 기법은 경쟁하는 스트림들에게 이용가능 한 자원들을 효과적으로 공유할 수 있도록 해주며, 전반적인 QoS(Quality of Service)를 향상시키기 위해 자원의 재 할당을 요구하는 스트림들을 위한 스케줄러 초기화 협상(scheduler-initiated negotation)을 통해 높은 이용률을 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 기법을 사용하여 동시에 실행시킬 수 있는 클라이언트의 수를 증가시킬 수 있으며 혼잡한 트래픽 상태에서도 좋은 응답 비율과 향상된 자원 이용률을 얻을 수 있다.

An Efficient 4K and 8K UHD Transmission Scheme on Convergence Networks with Broadcasting and LTE by using Coordinated Multi-Point Transmission System

  • In this paper, an efficient 4K and 8K UHD(Ultra High Definition) transmission scheme is proposed on the convergence networks with broadcasting and LTE(Long Term Evolution) by using CoMP(Coordinated Multi-Point). A video data is compressed and divided into BL(Base Layer), E(Enhanced layer)1, E2 and E3 by scalable HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding). The divided layers can be combined by the scalable HEVC such as mobile HD, full HD, 4K and 8K UHD(Ultra High Definition). The divided layers are transmitted through the convergence networks with DVB-T2(Digital Video Broadcasting-$2^{nd}$ Generation Terrestrial) broadcasting system and LTE CoMP. This scheme transmits mobile HD and full HD layers through DVB-T2 broadcasting system by using M-PLP(Multiple-physical Layer Pipes), and adaptively transmits 4K or 8K UHD layer through LTE CoMP with MMT(MPEG Media Transport) server. An adaptive transmitting and receiving scheme in the LTE CoMP system provides 4K or 8K UHD layer to a user according to the user status. The proposed scheme is verified by showing the system-level simulation results which is better BER(bit-error-rate) performance than the conventional scheme. The results show that the proposed scheme provides the stable video contents to the user especially at the cell edge.

뇌파 바이오피드백훈련 간호중재가 학교 청소년 정서행동문제 관심군의 자기조절에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Brain-wave Biofeedback Training Nursing Intervention upon Self-regulation of Emotional Behavior Problem in Adolescents at School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of brain-wave biofeedback training nursing intervention (NFT) upon enhancing self-regulation response in adolescence with emotional behavior problems in school. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was conducted. The participants were assigned to the experimental group (n=24) or the control group (n=24). The experimental group additionally received NFT. The NFT was conducted 10 sessions for 30 minutes per session with the band reward and inhibit training which matched their Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG), participant's demand and chief complaint. Data were collected with QEEG and heart rate variability (HRV) in physiological response, self-efficacy in cognitive response, depression in emotional response, impulsivity and delay gratification in behavioral response of self-regulation. Results: The general characteristics and the pre-test scores of two groups were all homogeneous. The experimental group was reported to be significantly higher in QEEG homeostasis, HRV homeostasis, self-efficacy, and delay gratification than the control group. The experimental group was reported to be significantly lower in depression and impulsivity. Conclusion: The results indicate that NFT using brain cognitive neuroscience approach is effective in enhancing self-regulation response. Therefore, this nursing intervention using brain cognitive neuroscience approach can be applied as an effective self-regulation nursing intervention for adolescents with emotional behavior problems in communities for adaptive life.

Impact of Pulmonary Arterial Elastance on Right Ventricular Mechanics and Exercise Capacity in Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot

  • Background and Objectives: Pathophysiological changes of right ventricle (RV) after repair of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) are coupled with a highly compliant low-pressure pulmonary artery (PA) system. This study aimed to determine whether pulmonary vascular function was associated with RV parameters and exercise capacity, and its impact on RV remodeling after pulmonary valve replacement. Methods: In a total of 48 patients over 18 years of age with repaired TOF, pulmonary arterial elastance (Ea), RV volume data, and RV-PA coupling ratio were calculated and analyzed in relation to exercise capacity. Results: Patients with a low Ea showed a more severe pulmonary regurgitation volume index, greater RV end-diastolic volume index, and greater effective RV stroke volume (p=0.039, p=0.013, and p=0.011, respectively). Patients with a high Ea had lower exercise capacity than those with a low Ea (peak oxygen consumption [peak VO2] rate: 25.8±7.7 vs. 34.3±5.5 mL/kg/min, respectively, p=0.003), while peak VO2 was inversely correlated with Ea and mean PA pressure (p=0.004 and p=0.004, respectively). In the univariate analysis, a higher preoperative RV end-diastolic volume index and RV end-systolic volume index, left ventricular end-systolic volume index, and higher RV-PA coupling ratio were risk factors for suboptimal outcomes. Preoperative RV volume and RV-PA coupling ratio reflecting the adaptive PA system response are important factors in optimal postoperative results. Conclusions: We found that PA vascular dysfunction, presenting as elevated Ea in TOF, may contribute to exercise intolerance. However, Ea was inversely correlated with pulmonary regurgitation (PR) severity, which may prevent PR, RV dilatation, and left ventricular dilatation in the absence of significant pulmonary stenosis.

HEVC 구문요소에 적응적인 파이프라인-병렬 CABAC 복호화기 설계 (A Design of Pipelined-parallel CABAC Decoder Adaptive to HEVC Syntax Elements)

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 HEVC 구문요소들을 적응적으로 파이프라인 및 병렬 처리할 수 있는 CABAC 복호화기 아키텍처를 설계 및 구현하였다. CABAC는 높은 압축률을 제공하지만, 구문요소 단위 순차적 복호화와 문맥간 강한 데이터 종속성, 빈 단위 복호화 과정 때문에 고성능 복호화 처리를 어렵게 한다. CABAC의 복호화 처리 성능을 높이기 위하여 연속된 flag 타입의 구문요소에 대해서는 다음에 복호될 구문요소들을 선행 연산하여 적응적으로 파이프라인 처리하였고, 멀티빈으로 구성된 구문요소는 최대 3개 빈까지 병렬 처리하는 고성능 구조를 설계하였다. 또한 이진산술복호기를 가속화하기 위해 문맥모델 업데이트와 재정규화를 선행 병렬 연산하고, 복호화 결과값에 따라 선택해서, 이진산술복호기의 임계 지연시간을 개선하였다. 제안하는 HEVC CABAC 아키텍처는 최대 1.01bins/cycle의 처리 성능으로 기존 구조대비 약 2배의 가속화 성능을 갖는다. 65nm ASIC 합성 결과 224M bins/sec.의 복호화 성능을 보이며, QFHD영상의 실시간 처리를 가능하게 하였다.
