  • The purpose of this study was to compare the lower extremity muscle activities according to the different longitudinal arch and treadmill inclination and to provide basic data on treadmill walking exercise. The selected 17 subjects who had not lower extremity injury and ROM limitation were recruited in this study. The longitudinal arch was divided into normal foot and flat foot. The inclinations of the treadmill were $0^{\circ}$, up hill $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, down hill $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$ and $15^{\circ}$. The electromyography was used to analyze the muscle activity of rectus femoris, biceps femoris, tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius lateralis and medialis. There were significant differences between the inclination $0^{\circ}$ and down hill $15^{\circ}$. There was no interactive effect of treadmill inclination on the longitudinal arch. The activity difference of lower extremity muscle was not conspicious. There existed the interactive effect between the longitudinal arch and muscle activity. The contrast test within subjects showed positively in the rectus femoris and gastrocnemius medialis, biceps femoris and gastrocnemius medialis. The different longitudinal arch did not influence on the effect(p>.05). There was significant difference between the normal foot and the flat foot. So it is necessary to carry out the long term study.

  • The four tolerant and one susceptible plant to oxyfluorfen were selected from 26 species and investigated for the inhibition of protox activity, the PPIX accumulation, and the activity of antioxidative enzymes by oxyfluorfen treatment. When treated, the oxyfluorfen-tolerant plant species showed a less decrease in fresh weight and height than the susceptible one. The susceptible barnyardgrass showed more inhibition of protox activity due to the treatment of oxyfluorfen than the tolerant species. Especially at the concentration of $10^{-6}M$, protox activity of the susceptible barnyardgrass was inhibited completely, but tolerant species maintained $25{\sim}45%$ of the activity. Under the light and dark condition, the susceptible barnyardgrass showed more PPIX accumulation than the tolerant.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the effect of antioxidant enzyme activity and radical scavenging activities of cucumber grown greenhouse. The analytic method of antioxidant activities were measured by estimating DPPH free radical scavenging, nitrite scavenging ability activity and ABTS radical scavenging ability. The DPPH free radical scavenging activity of Jangjukcheongjang was the highest in most of the growth stage. The Nitrite scavenging ability at pH 1.2 was more than 40% in all cultivars and growth stages. The ABTS radical scavenging ability of Jangjukcheongjang and Nulpureuncheongjang showed relatively little higher than Janghyeongnakhap and Sinjoeunbaekdadagi. The SOD activity showed higher activity than 95% in all cultivars and growth stages. The activity of CAT was highest in the Nulpureuncheongjang of 2 (12~16cm) growth stage, and the APX activity of Nulpureuncheongjang and Janghyeongnakhap showed a relatively high activity. The POX activity showed distinctly different trends depending on the growth stage, and that is, the activity at harvest stage was significantly reduced. These results suggest that the cucumber had the potent biological activities, and that in the future, the availability of cucumber will be increase in the field of high-value cosmetic and food products.
