Early Surgical Intervention of Active Infective Endocarditis (심내막염 환자의 수술적 치료)

  • During one year period from Sep. 1986 to Sep. 1987, we have experienced 6 cases of infective endocarditis requiring surgical interventions. All 6 patients had class IV or V cardiac disability at the time of surgery. The indication for surgery was rapidly progressive congestive heart failure in all cases. Four patients underwent aortic valve replacement including one double valve replacement. Two other patients required other surgical procedures, removal of large left atrial vegetation mass in one patient and excision of destroyed pulmonary valve and aortic vegetation in the other patient. Two patients died; one of mitral annulus rupture after release of aortic clamp and the other of mediastinal bleeding 3 months after replacement of aortic valve. Three out of 4 survivors are in NYHA Class I and the remaining patient is in Class II. We emphasize that early operative intervention is life-saving in patients with persistent or progressive congestive heart failure, irrespective of the activity of the infective process or the duration of antibiotic therapy.

Design of Single-Stage AC/DC Converter with High Efficiency and High Power Factor for Low Power Level Applications

  • Design of single stage AC/DC converter with high power factor for low power level applications is proposed. The proposed converter gives the good power factor correction, low line current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulations. This converter also has a high efficiency by employing an active clamp method and synchronous rectifiers. To verify the performances of the proposed converter, a 90W-converter has been designed. The modelling of this proposed converter is power formed using an averaging technique and based on this model a detailed analysis is carried out. This prototype meets the IEC555-2 requirements satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor and high efficiency.

  • A ZVZCS(Zero-Voltage and Zero-Current-Switching) Three Level DC/DC Converter is presented to secondary auxiliary circuit. The converter presented in this paper used a phase shift control with a flying capacitor in the primary side to achieve ZVS for the outer switch. A secondary auxiliary circuit, which consists of one small capacitor and two small diode, is added in the secondary to provides ZVZCS conditions to primary switches, and aids to clamp secondary rectifier voltage. The auxiliary circuit Includes neither lossy component nor addition active switch, which makes the proposed converter efficient and effective. The principle of operation, feature, and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the experiment with a 500W 50kHz prototype converter.

  • 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터는 고효율, 간단한 구조의 특징으로 PC 파워 시스템, 서버 파워 시스템과 같은 어플리케이션에 많이 사용 되고 있다. 특히 더블 앤디드 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터는 작은 출력 필터와 고효율의 장점이 있으나, 변압기 오프셋 전류로 인해 변압기의 크기와 코어 손실이 증가하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 게이트 신호 조정을 통해 낮은 변압기 오프셋 전류를 갖는 새로운 더블 앤디드 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터를 제안한다. 따라서 변압기의 크기와 코어 손실, 1차측과 출력 인덕터의 전력손실이 감소함으로써 높은 전력밀도와 고효율을 달성하게 된다.

  • In response to this inverter microwave oven has been developed to improve high speed cooking time & energy saving performance. The voltage resonating inverter has a defect in switching element that works at 5 or 6times higher than input voltage. Especially, it is very difficult to choose the switching device is very high for the 220 (V) commercial voltage. In this paper, it is proposed the optimum method to realize the turbo 1200(W) output power for microwave oven that is employed the 900(V) IGBT with decreasing operating voltage of the switching component by making the 220(V), 1000(W) inverter through the active clamp voltage resonating inverter.

  • Recently, a fuel cell is remarkable for new generation system. The fuel cell generation system converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell generation is characterized by low voltage and high current. For connecting to utility, it needs both a step up converter and an inverter. The step up converter makes DC link and the inverter changes DC to AC. In this paper, full bridge converter and the single phase inverter are designed and installed for fuel cell. Simulation and experiment verify that fuel cell generation system could be applied for the distributed generation. In this paper, the 1.5kW active clamp current-fed full bridge converter employing MOSFETs is operated to discharge the battery whereas a voltage-fed half bridge converter employing IGBTs is operated to charge the battery.

  • In this paper, to analyze efficiency characteristic, one of important factors in design of DC-DC converter prototype, theoretically derived power loss of individual components generating in DC-DC converter and compared theoretical results with experimental results. For evaluation of results, active clamp type Forward DC-DC converter with synchronous rectifier was composed of experimental converter. Efficiency result measured in experimental converter was compared with theoretical efficiency result derived in this paper. In comparative result, a fact that derived theoretical value and experimental value comparatively correspond have been able to verify.

  • 본 논문에서는 큰 부하 변동에도 안정된 동작이 가능한 연료전지용 3상 전류형 능동 클램프 DC-DC 컨버터를 구현하였다. 무부하에서 부하변동에 따른 안정적인 출력 전압을 얻기 위해 연료전지용 3상 전류형 능동 클램프 DC/DC 컨버터에 플라이백 방식으로 입력 인덕터 2차측에 권선을 감아 출력 전압을 확립하였다. 고부하에서의 동작이 적합하도록 입력 인덕터를 교체해 기존 컨버터의 한계용량을 개선시켰다. 실험을 통해 낮은 직류 출력 전압에서 높은 직류 출력 전압으로의 변환시 무부하에서 부하 증가에 따른 안정적인 동작상태를 확인하였으며 출력전압 및 온도, 효율을 분석 하였다.

  • In this paper, a modular dc-to-dc converter, in order to apply to the control board of train vehicles, is presented. Forward converter with active-clamp reset circuit and synchronous rectifier(SR) is employed to achieve high efficiency. To reduce the size and height of the converter, low profile magnetic components are used. The design and performance of the modular dc-to-dc converter with experiments on a 50W(5V/10A) prototype for the 60V$\sim$140V input voltage range are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 전기자동차용 저전압 배터리 충전기(Low-voltage DC-DC Converter, LDC)에 적합한 입력 직렬-출력 병렬 구조의 능동 클램프 포워드 컨버터의 모델링 및 제어기 설계를 제안한다. 제안하는 컨버터는 모든 스위치에서 소프트 스위칭을 성취하기 때문에 높은 효율을 달성할 수 있다. 또한 누설 인덕턴스의 영향을 포함한 컨버터의 정확한 소신호 모델을 통하여 모델링 기반의 제어기 설계를 제시한다. 제어기의 시뮬레이션 및 3.2kW급 시작품의 실험을 통하여 제안하는 컨버터의 성능을 검증하였다.
