In recent, rapid and accurate processing for logistics have been required, according as logistics has grown dramatically. Especially, identifying, locating, or tracking objects in ports are important, because ports are gateways to extended markets. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a smart tag system for ubiquitous port logistics. Our solution consists of three parts: an active RFID to identify objects, an electronic container seal to charge with security of containers, and a RTLS system to locate objects. Because identification technology for logistics can be read by heterogenous systems, compliance with the international standard is one of the most critical issues. This paper introduces the method to maintain compliance with ISO, and conducts some verifications. In addition, we analyze the system performance such as lifetime, identification rate, and time for multiple tag identification.
Recognition of real time locations of crews for a naval ship is important, not only for the operation efficiency but also for the safety of onboard crews in the ship. More than 100 crews are dwelling in a modem naval ship and they are involved in various duties. Moreover many visitors come in and out frequently while the ship is moored in a harbor. It sometimes requires considerable time and efforts to find a person for urgent mission. It would enhance the operational efficiency if locations of onboard crews are recognized and monitored in real time. An active type RFID tag, which has a specific ID number, is distributed to each crew member, which should be carried during his stay in the ship. A number of fixed type RFID readers are to be located at the major passages of the ship, which are connected to the main computer via Local Area Network. The location of a crew would be identified by the ID number of his RFID tag and the location of the RFID reader which detected the RFID tag. A middleware is needed to process the collected data in the main computer. The data is fed to application softwares, which actually display locations of the concerned crews. The software is coded using GUI (Graphic User Interface) for better user friendliness, which has the function of storing the location history of a crew, and sending warning messages to appropriate persons, if unallowable behavior is detected. An auxiliary naval ship is selected for an experimental application study of the proposed system. It turns out that the required budget and time for the realization of the system is within the allowable limits. But complementary measures to protect the privacy of onboard crews should be considered and adopted, before the application of the system is realized.

In maritime logistics, the technology for transmitting status information has been greatly developed, but it has not been available in general logistics environment or it is impossible to support two-way communication as it simply receives and transfers a container's information. In particular, to support two-way communication in all sections of the global maritime logistics, the address value, which can identify the tag, should be managed. In this context, to improve the 433 MHz-based RFID, the project called "DASH 7" has been conducted in recent years. However, it has stopped proceeding because of its slow progress, including the standardization and development of references. In this paper, we introduced an active IP-RFID system configuration for real-time communication in global maritime logistics using a two-way communication-which is characteristic of an IP-applying virtual address values in the RFID tag, and proposing its process and function. When you apply the IP-RFID system proposed in this paper, not only real-time status tracking in the maritime logistics area is possible, but it is also applicable for controlling the tag.

The ISO 18000-7 Active RFID standard, a single channel system operating in the 433Mhz, faces technical difficulties in supporting some recently introduced application demands because of its low transmission rates and radio interference between readers. We propose a new multi-channel active RFID system operating in the 2.4Ghz. The special feature of the proposed system is that a reader makes use of multiple interfaces to improve its performance like a multi-core processor. However if only a small part of interfaces are actually used, the performance improvement would not meet the expectation. To overcome this problem, a new multi-channel multi-interface active RFID protocol, which balances communication loads among all available interfaces, is necessary. 3 protocols, named as "Aggregated", "LP-Combined", "AP-Balanced", are proposed. Through simulation, we compare them for various conditions by changing number of tags, number of interfaces, tag data size. AP-Balanced shows the best performance and its performance increases almost linearly as the number of interface increases, which meets our expectation.

In this paper, we analyze the active RFID system ISO/IEC 18000-7. In order to apply to USN, which consists active RFID tags and sensor nodes, we propose UWB-based Class 4 active RFID protocol using active RFID relay tag as relay AP. To compare the performance between the existing ISO/IEC 18000-7 system and the proposed system, we introduce sensitivity-based measurement of achieved coverage and system efficiency. Also, we analyze the performance of the proposed system and compare it with that of the existing system through MCL analysis and SLS analysis.
T4 endonuclease V (T4 endo V) [EC 3. 1. 25. 1], found in bacteriophage T4, is responsible for excision repair of damaged DNA. The enzyme possesses two activities: a cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer DNA glycosylase (CPD glycosylase) and an apyrimidic/apurinic endonuclease (AP lyase). T4 denV (414 bp cDNA) encoding T4 en do V (138 amino acid) was synthesized and expressed using either an expression vector, pTriEx-4, in E. coli or a baculovirus AcNPV vector, pBacPAK8, in insect cells. The recombinant His-Tag/T4 endo V (rHis-Tag/T4 endo V) protein expressed from bacteria was purified using one-step affinity chromatography with a HiTrap Chelating HP column and used to make rabbit anti-His-Tag/T4 endo V polyclonal antibody for detection of recombinant T4 endo V (rT4 endo V) expressed in insect cells. In the meantime, the recombinant baculovirus was obtained by cotransfection of BacPAK6 viral DNA and pBP/T4 endo V in Spodoptera frugiperda (Sf21) insect cells, and used to infect Sf21 cells to overexpress T4 endo V protein. The level of rT4 endo V protein expressed in Sf21 cells was optimized by varying the virus titers and time course of infection. The optimal expression condition was set as follows; infection of the cells at a MOI of 10 and harvest at 96 h post-infection. Under these conditions, we estimated the amount of rT4 endo V produced in the baculovirus expression vector system to be 125 mg/l. The rT4 endo V was purified to homogeneity by a rapid procedure, consisting of ion-exchange, affinity, and reversed phase chromatographies, based on FPLC. The rT4 endo V positively reacted to an antiserum made against rHis-Tag/T4 endo V and showed a residual nicking activity against CPD-containing DNA caused by UV. This is the first report to have T4 endo V expressed in an insect system to exclude the toxic effect of a bacterial expression system, retaining enzymatic activity.

Through the automatic sensing of the environment, USN technology can give the best services. In this work, we have developed an active RFID system and examined its performance. By implementing it into water quality sensors, we constructed a system that can detect diverse indoor/outdoor environment and provide information about the pollution level obtained from the temperature and PH sensors. Our RF system had an internal Print-on-PCB antenna for the miniaturization of the tag. We used a RF transceiver CC2510 chipset of TI company to realize the active RFID function. By using RSSI constants obtained, we performed the evaluation of real time location accuracy with a software written in Labview. Among 10 arbitrary locations, we obtained average measurement errors of 1.69 m in x axis and 1.66 m in y axis. This technology can be applied to logistics, environmental monitoring, prevention of missing children and various applications.

RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology is an automatic identification method using radio frequencies between RFID reader which collects the informatin and tag which transmits the information. RFID technology develops passive RFID which transmit the only ID to active RFID which transmit the additional information such as sensing information. there is ISO/IEC 18000-7 as typical standard of active RFID. it is single channel system of 433.92MHz and has limitation of collection of a number of tags. to overcome limitation of collection of many tags, we propose the new 2.4GHz active RFID technology which can use the multi-channel. if reader has multi-interface and uses another channel in each, reader could fast collect the tags. but, if a reader which has many interfaces collects tags through the specific interface, the performance may not improve any more comparing with a reader using single interface. in this paper, we show the fast collection through design and implementation of protocol for load balancing between interfaces in multi-interface RFID reader.

RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology is an automatic identification method using radio frequencies between RFID reader which collects the information and tag which transmits the information. RFID technology develops passive RFID which transmit the only ID to active RFID which transmit the additional information such as sensing information. However, ISO/IEC 18000-7 as active RFID standard has a problem which cannot use multiple channel. To solve this problem, we use the 2.4GHz bandwidth technology and we propose the dynamic channel allocation method which can efficiently allot a channel. we show the operation of the dynamic channel allocation method through design and implement with CC2500DK of Taxas Instrument.
In this study we develop core technology of Multi-Charmel Voice Guidance System based on active 2.45GHz RFID that can be used in the field of advertising. Through this, we can service more familiar with voice information to foreigners by own language in large scale international event. As an alternative to the current high-expensive voice guidance system in exhibition hall and provide more value added services to user. As the result, we present the configuration of integrated software platform which include media server, media client and receiver. It can be as a basis infra equipment for a signtseeing in RFID/USN environment. Additionally through tag information analysis about exposure of advertisement that is collected late, supposed system may achieve role as a new marketing tool.
