  • Background: A limited hip rotational range of motion (ROM) has been considered to be one of characteristics of low back pain (LBP) in athletes. Although LBP frequently occurs in jiu-jitsu athletes, no previous has compared hip rotational ROM between jiu-jitsu athletes with and without LBP. Objects: The aim of the study was to compare ROM for hip internal rotation (IR) and external rotation (ER), and total hip rotation between jiu-jitsu athletes with and without LBP. Methods: Jiu-jitsu athletes were recruited for the LBP group ($n_1=15$) and control group without LBP ($n_2=15$). IR, ER, and total rotational range of hip joint were measured using a goniometer. Analysis of variance was used to compare the ROM between groups and sides. Results: The LBP group showed a significantly lower range of passive hip IR, passive total rotation, active IR, active ER, and active total rotation than the control group (p<.05). Dominant side of passive hip IR and active IR had a significantly lower ROM than non-dominant side (p<.05). In passive ER ROM, non-dominant side was significantly greater than dominant side (p<.05). Conclusion: Compared to jiu-jitsu athletes without LBP, athletes with LBP exhibit a loss of hip rotational ROM. Based on these results, clinicians and athletic trainers should measure hip rotational ROM when designing the management plan for jiu-jitsu athletes with LBP.

  • We performed systematic observations of the H $\small{I}$ $Br{\alpha}$ line ($4.05{\mu}m$) in 51 nearby (z<0.3) ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs), using AKARI near-infrared spectroscopy. The $Br{\alpha}$ line is predicted to be the brightest among the H ${\small{I}}$ recombination lines in ULIRGs with visual extinction higher than 15 mag. We detected the $Br{\alpha}$ line in 33 ULIRGs. In these galaxies, the relative contribution of starburst to the total infrared luminosity ($L_{IR}$) is estimated on the basis of the ratio of the $Br{\alpha}$ line luminosity ($L_{Br{\alpha}}$) to $L_{IR}$. The mean $L_{Br{\alpha}}/L_{IR}$ ratio in LINERs or Seyferts is significantly lower (~50%) than that in H $\small{II}$ galaxies. This result indicates that active galactic nuclei contribute significantly (~50%) to $L_{IR}$ in LINERs, as well as Seyferts. We also estimate the absolute contribution of starburst to $L_{IR}$ using the ratio of star formation rates (SFRs) derived from $L_{Br{\alpha}}$ ($SFR_{Br{\alpha}}$) and those needed to explain $L_{IR}$ ($SFR_{IR}$). The mean $SFR_{Br{\alpha}}/SFR_{IR}$ ratio is only 0.33 even in H $\small{II}$ galaxies, where starburst is supposed to dominate the luminosity. We attribute this apparently low $SFR_{Br{\alpha}}/SFR_{IR}$ ratio to the absorption of ionizing photons by dust within H $\small{II}$ regions.

  • This paper presents an inertia type of piezostack based active mount for unmanned aero vehicle (UAV) camera system. After identifying the stiffness and damping properties of the rubber element and piezostack a mechanical model of the active mount system is established. The governing equation of mount is them derived and expressed in a state space farm. Subsequently, a sliding mode controller which is robust to uncertain parameters is designed in order to reduce the vibration imposed according to the military specification associated with UAV camera mount system operation. Control performances such as acceleration and transmitted force are evaluated through both computer simulation and experimental implementation.

  • IR(Investor Relation) is an active management activity to provide well balanced information to investors which can reduce asymmetry of information between investors and management. This activity could contribute to the long-term development of corporation with increased mutual trust between investors and management. Consequently, in these days, ill is widely recognized as an effective measure of securing corporate transparency, maximization corporate value, and stock-holder oriented management. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of corporate IR activity on investment behavior as well as stock price. It is assumed that if asymmetry of information between investors and management is cured by active ill activity from a corporation, with more transparent and reliable information of the firm at hand investors would more actively involved in trading. Statistically speaking, I assumed that the more information provided by ill activities, the higher value of a corporation at the stock trading.

  • In this paper, an Impulse Radio-Ultra Wide band RF Transceiver for WBAN applications is implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The designed RF transceiver support 3-5GHz UWB low band and employs OOK(On-Off Keying) modulation. The receiver employs non-coherent energy detection architecture to reduce complexity and power consumption. For the rejection of the undesired interferers and improvement of the receiver sensitivity, RF active notch filter is integrated. The VCO based transmitter employs the switch mechanism. As adapt the switch mechanism, power consumption and VCO leakage can be reduced. Also, the spectrum mask is always same at each center frequency. The measured sensitivity of the receiver is -84.1 dBm at 3.5 GHz with 1.579 Mbps. The power consumption of the transmitter and receiver are 0.3nJ/bit and 41 mW respectively.

  • The correlation between black hole mass and stellar velocity dispersion provides an important clue on the black hole growth and galaxy evolution. In the case of AGN, however, it is extremely difficult to measure stellar velocity dispersions in the optical since AGN continuum dilutes stellar absorption features. In contrast, stellar velocity dispersions of active galaxies can be measured in the near-IR, where AGN-to-star flux ratio is much smaller. Expecting that more stellar velocity dispersion measurements will be available using future near-IR facilities, it is crucial to test whether the stellar velocity dispersions measured from the near-IR spectra are consistent with those measured from the optical spectra. For a sample of 35 nearby galaxies, for which optical stellar velocity dispersion measurements and dynamical black hole masses are available, we obtained high quality H-band spectra, using the TripleSpec at the Palomar 5-m Telescope, in order to calibrate the stellar velocity dispersions and define the $M_{BH}-sigma_*$ relation in the near-IR. Based on the spatially resolved kinematics, we correct for the rotation component and determine the luminosity-weighted stellar velocity dispersion of the spheroid component in each galaxy. In this presentation, we will show the comparison between optical and near-IR stellar velocity dispersion measurements and define the $M_{BH}-sigma_*$ relation based on uniformly measured stellar velocity dispersion in the near-IR.

  • Infrared (IR) target detection is one of the key technologies in Automatic Target Detection/Recognition (ATD/R) for military applications. However, IR sensors have limitations due to the weather sensitivity and atmospheric effects. In recent years, sensor information fusion study is an active research topic to overcome these limitations. SAR sensor is adopted to sensor fusion, because SAR is robust to various weather conditions. In this paper, a Boolean Map Visual Theory-Morphology (BMVT-M) method is proposed to detect targets in SAR and IR images. Moreover, we suggest the IR and SAR image registration and decision level fusion algorithm. The experimental results using OKTAL-SE synthetic images validate the feasibility of sensor fusion-based target detection.
