A study on the separation of heavy metals such as iron, copper, zinc and nickel from electroplating waste water has been investigated. The results showed that the PC-88A was more effective extractant for the extraction of zinc and the efficiency of zinc was to be about 100% at pH 2.5. And copper and nickel were extracted about 100% at pH 2 and more than 90% at pH 4~5 with LIX 84, respectively. On the other hand, in the case of solvent extraction of electroplating waste water(Acid-Alkali type) containing heavy metals, the ferric ion was first extracted at pH 2∼2.5 with 20% Naphthenic acid or 10% Versatic acid-10. And then, copper and zinc were extracted at pH 2 with 3% LIX 84 and at pH 2.5∼3 with 20% PC-88A respectively, remaining nickel in the raffinate. In this manner, the heavy metals in electroplating waste water could be effectively separated with solvent extraction method.
Compositions of protein and amino acid in the muscle of crucian carp, Carassius carassius, and snakehead, Channa argus, were determined by amino acid autoanalyzer, and the protein subunits composed of sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar proteins were also analyzed by sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The crucian carp muscle contained about $14.7\%$ of protein, and the protein was composed of $32.6\%$ in sarcoplasmic, $62.0\%$ in myofibrillar, $4.9%$ in alkali soluble and $0.6\%$ in stroma protein. The snakehead muscle, on the other hand, contained about $16.1\%$ of protein, and $30.7\%,\;64.1\%,\;4.7\%\;and\;0.4\%$ in the above order. The sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar proteins were composed of 10 and 19 subunits respectively, in the crucian carp, and 12 and 18 subunits in the snakehead. The total amino acid compositions in the muscle of the crucian carp and snakehead were found to be very similar except lysine and glutamic acid. The major amino acids of their muscle protein were lysine, glutamic acid, arginine and aspartic acid in order. In free amino acid content of the crucian carp, histidine occupied $52\%$ of the total free amino acid, and glutamic acid, glycine and taurine did $85\%$ in case of snakehead.
When radioactive wastewater was solidified treatment by cement, the drying rate of cement and the volume reduction ratio was decreased because of boric acid component in the wastewater. In order to supplement the demerit, effects of paraffin wax investigated in this study. Paraffin wax has a hydrophobic properties and a low affinity with inorganic materials. When the radioactive wastewater was tested by a small of wax, the compressive strength of solidified waste are decreased Therefore boric acid in radioactive wastewater are first treated by alkali salt and coated by the stearic acid. During the solidification step, The amount of paraffin wax addition get the result that the compressive strength of solidification with cement was the same as that with paraffin wax. The leaching properties of radioactive waste solidified was the same CFL (cumulative fraction leached), PR (penetration rate), effective diffusivity if paraffin wax content in solidified waste was 20% or 25%.
Polyamic acid (PAA) was prepared from cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (CBDA) and 4,4'-fiaminodiphenyl ether (DDE). In order to impart a photosensitivity to the PAA, diazonaphthoquinone (DNQ) derivative (DI) was added. However, the addition of the DI was not enough to inhibit the dissolution of the PAA for a aqueous alkal solution. Therefore, we had synthesized poly(amic acid ester)s by an adding 1,2-epoxy-3-phenoxypropane to the PAA. That is, an acidity of the PAA could be controlled by an esterification reaction of 1,2-epoxy-3-phenoxypropane with the PAA. Significant difference of a dissolution rate of the poly(amic acid ester) between an o(posed and unexposed area was observed at an acid content of 60% and less. Resolution of the positively patterned film showed about $25{\mu}m$ at the exposure dose of $200mJ/cm^2$.
As the usuage of tempered glass for touch panel increased rapidly with the development of industry, the amount of UV curable coating solution used to protect glass surfaces during a tempered glass manufacturing process increased as well. The UV curable coating has advantages compared to thermal curing such as shortened curing time and non-solvent. Appropriated polymer and monomer were used as an acid polymer to grant an alkali peeling ability. The monomers were 2-hydroxyl methylacrylate, 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate and dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate which have acryl groups of 1, 2, and 6, respectively. The combination of three different types of photoinhibitors were used and bisphenol A epoxy diacrylate was used as an oligomer. In this study, experiments were carried out by controlling the amount of photoinitiator, oligomer, and additive while maintaining the constant content of the acid polymer and the acrylic monomer. The changes in physical properties according to the additive content were investigated. It was found that the combination of photoinitiators was necessary to achieve the hardness above 4H and it was possible to control the delamination type of the coating film from a sheet to pieces by the addition of TPO as an initiator. The increase in oligomer contents increased the hardness and adhesiveness alongside dissection time. Talc content of 20 wt% showed the best results.
Partial hydrolyzing condition for low-molecularized alginate and rheological properties such as viscosity, solubility, emulsitying ability, oil absorption capacity, bile acids binding and metal ion binding of the low-molecularized alginates from the sea mustard ( Undaria pinnatifida) and giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) were investigated. Alginate from sea mustard was regularly hydrolyzed with the increase of HCl concentration in the range of 0.2 N to 0.5 N and with the prolonged reaction time at $100^{\circ}C$. The molecular weight of alginate was decreased to a part of 100 after hydrolysis for 50 min with 0.3 N HCl. The ratio of mannuronate to guluronate was increased with the acid hydrolysis and total yield was estimated to be $75\%\~80\%$. Low-molecularization of alginate was featured in the apparent decrease of viscosity, whereas solubility, emulsifying ability, and bile acids binding ability were increased with the low-molecularization. Oil absorption capacity of the acid$\cdot$alkali soluble alginate was slightly higher than that of the water soluble alginate. Metal ion binding capacity was the highest in acid$\cdot$alkali soluble alginate, and decreased with the low-molecularization.
During the screening for anti-complementary activity from 10 kinds of edible mushrooms, an alkali extract of Agaricus bisporus showed the highest activity through the complement fixation test. The crude anti-complementary material(AB-0) from Agaricus bisporus was obtained by the alkali extraction using 1 N NaOH containing 5% urea$(65^{\circ}C)$, followed by methanol reflux, dialysis and lyophilization. The fraction AB-O showed potent anit-complementary and anti-tumor activity against sarcoma-180 injected mice. The fraction AB-0 was divided into 5 fractions(AB-20, AB-40, AB-60, AB-80, AB-A) by gradual acetone precipitation. Among them fraction AB-20 having the highest activity and yield was found to contain 39% carbohydrate and 46% protein. The anti-complementary protein-bound polysaccharide AB-20 consisted of glucose, arabinose, xylose, galactose and mannose in a molar ratio of 6.49 : 1.98 : 1.24 : 1.00 : 0.71, respectively and its main component amino acids were alanine(20.59%), isoleucine(16.85%), glutamine+glutamic acid(14.12%) and leucine (13.83%). The anti-complementary activity of AB-20 was decreased greatly by periodate oxidation, but decreased slightly by pronase digestion. This indicates that polysaccharide moiety is corelated with the anti-complementary activity and that protein is also involved in the activity.

To furnish basic data for the utilization of leaf mustard as a raw material of salted and fermented vegetable food, major chemical compositions of Dolsan Leaf Mustard (DLM) were investigated. The moisture and ash contents of DLM were 87.5% and 1.4%, respectively. Compared with other Korean traditional or Japanese leaf mustard, DIM contained more crude protein (3.8%) but less crude fat (0.3%) and crude fiber (1.3%). As an alkali food, leaf and leat stalk had pH of 5.7 and 5.8, titratable acidity of 687 and 318mg/100g and alkalinity of 2.5 and 5.2, respectively. The major free sugar in DLM was glucose and fructose was also detected in a small amount. The contents of total and reducing sugar in leaf and leaf stalk were 574, 352, 820 and 538mg%, respectively. Total amino acid contents of leaf and leaf stalk were 8.0 and 2.5% on wet basis. Although the amino acid compositions of leaf and leaf stalk were different each other, glutamic acid and proline were the major amino acids in both of the leaf and leaf stalk. Significantly higher amount (ca.10.3-fold) of free amino acid was present in leaf (3074mg%) than in leaf stalk (298mg%). Glutamic acid and aspartic acid were the major free amino acids and essential amino acid contents in leaf and leaf stalk were 869 and 68mg% being 22.9 and 28.3% of total free amino acids.
The oxalate precipitation of lanthanide and actinide by oxalic acid was investigated in the simulated radioactive liquid waste, which was composed of 17 elements of alkali, alkaline earth(Cs, Rb, Ba, Sr), transition metal(Zr, Fe, Mo, Ni, Pd, Rh), lanthanide(La, Y, Nd, Ce, Eu) and actinide(Np, Am) in nitric acid solution. The effect of concentrations of nitric acid and ascorbic acid on the precipitation yield of each element in the simulated solution was examined at 0.5 M oxalic acid concentration. The precipitation yields of the elements were usually decreased with nitric acid concentration, nevertheless, the precipitation yields of lanthanide and actinide were more than 99%. Palladium was precipitated due to the reduction of Pd(II) into Pd metal by the addition of ascorbic acid in the oxalate precipitation and then, the precipitation yields of Mo, Fe, Ni, Ba decreased by 10~20% with concentration of ascorbic acid. The reductive precipitation of Pd(II) into Pd metal by the addition of ascorbic acid into the simulated radwaste occurred at below 1 M nitric acid concentration and its yield showed maximum at the ascorbic acid concentration of 0.01~0.02 M. The hydrazine suppressed the reductive precipitation of Pd by the ascorbic acid.
Aspen wood (Populus tremuloides, L.) was biotreated with Ceriporiopsis subvermispora for 1, 2, 4, and 6 weeks to observe the physical/chemical modification of wood components. Milled wood lignins (MWLs) isolated from each decayed wood were analyzed by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and nitrobenzene oxidation (NBO). As fungal treatment was progressed, lignin contents continuously decreased up to 20% after 6-week treatment. The lignin polymer could be fragmented to low-molecular phenolics, which make an enhancement of alkali solubility. Holocellulose contents were not affected severely during the period of fungal treatment, only reduction of 5~6% compared to the control. Xylose contents were decreased gradually from 23.4% to 18% after 6 weeks, whereas alpha-cellulose remained almost unchanged. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) indicates that molecular weight of lignin undergoes a slight decrement for 4 weeks of fungal treatment. Nitrobenzene oxidation revealed that total yield of NBO products of lignins were lowered ca 20% after fungal treatment. Sum of syringaldehyde and syringic acid are remarkably decreased. However, increment of sum of vanillin and vanillic acid was surprisingly observed. These results work as indirect evidence that a specific lignolytic reaction, maybe selective demethoxylaytion of S-lignin, can occur during fungal treatment of aspen wood by C. subvermispora.
