Solid phase extraction (SPE) purification method is the efficient and well-known tool for automated [$^{11}C$]acetate synthesis. A fully automated homemade module adopting the SPE method and 'pinch' valves was developed very economically with a universal interface board, a relay card and an open source programmable logic controller. The radiochemical yield of the optimized [$^{11}C$]acetate synthesis by this system was $58.8{\pm}2.1%$ (n=10, decay-corrected) from $15.5{\pm}0.19GBq$ of $[^{11}C]CO_2$ as starting activity, and total synthetic time was 15 minutes. HPLC analysis showed its high radiochemical purity as $97.4{\pm}1.1%$ without possible by-products.
Anxiety disorders are one of the serious problems which need proper therapy devoid of side effects of presently available medicines. The present study evaluates the anxiolytic and sedative activity of leaf galls of Piper nigrum Linn. in Swiss Albino mice. The pet. ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of leaf galls of Piper nigrum Linn were obtained by continuous soxhlet extraction. The prepared extracts were found to be safe up to 2000 mg/kg body weight of mice in the acute toxicity study. Each extract was assessed for anxiolytic activity in Swiss Albino mice by elevated plus Maze, open field test, rota rod test and phenobarbitone induced sleeping time test. In the Elevated Plus Maze test, the pet.ether extract and chloroform extract at a dose of 50 mg/kg b.w. orally, significantly (P < 0.01) increased the number of entries and time spent in open arm comparable with standard diazepam at the dose of 10 mg/kg. b.w. p.o. In the open field test, pet. ether extract (50 mg/kg b.w. p.o.) showed significant increase (P < 0.01) in ambulation and activity in the center. Chloroform extract (50 mg/kg b.w p.o.) was significant (P < 0.05) for both ambulation and center activity. Pet. ether extract (50 mg/kg b.w. p.o) also showed significant activity (P < 0.01) in rota rod test. All the results are comparable with standard diazepam at the dose of 1 mg /kg b.w, p.o. Moreover all the extracts showed significant (P < 0.01) increase in the phenobarbitone induced sleeping time among which pet.ether showed more prominent activity (36%) comparable with control. The results revealed that, the active pet.ether extract and chloroform extract of leaf galls of Piper nigrum Linn is worthwhile to develop the bioactive principle for anxiolytic activity.
The kinetics of the transesterification of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) with ethylene glycol (EG) was studied in a batch reactor. Bishydroxyethyl terephthalate (BHET), which is poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) monomer, can be produced by the transesterification reaction. Zinc acetate was used as a catalyst. Previous kinetic studies was carried out in a semi-batch reactor where generated methanol was removed so that reverse reactions were not considered in the kinetic expressions, resulting in inaccuracy of the kinetic model. Mathematical models of a batch reactor for the tranesterification reaction were developed and used to characterize the reaction kinetics and the composition distribution of the reaction products. More accurate models than previous ones were obtained and found to have a good agreement between model predictions and experimental data. Effect of process variables on the esterification reaction was investigated based on the experimental and simulation results.
The present study was aimed at investigating the hypouricemic and xanthine oxidase inhibitory activities of the various fractions of the hydromethanolic extract of the leaves of Coccinia grandis L. Voigt (Cucurbitaceae). The leaves of this species was used in traditional medicinal system for the treatment of gout, rheumatism, jaundice, bronchitis, fever, skin eruptions, wounds, etc. The degree of xanthine oxidase inhibition was determined in vitro by measuring the increase in absorbance at 295 nm associated with uric acid formation. Among the fractions tested, the chloroform fraction exhibited highest potency ($IC_{50}$$17.8\;{\mu}g/ml$). This was followed by the pet-ether ($IC_{50}$$29.7\;{\mu}g/ml$), ethyl acetate ($IC_{50}$$41.2\;{\mu}g/ml$) and residual ($IC_{50}$$47\;{\mu}g/ml$) fractions. The $IC_{50}$ value of allopurinol was $6.1\;{\mu}g/ml$. In addition, the hypouricemic and hepatic xanthine oxidase (XO)/xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH) inhibitory activities of the fractions were examined in vivo using oxonate (280 mg/kg, i.p.) induced hyperuricemic mice. At a dose of 200 mg/kg orally for 7 days, the pet-ether, chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions produced a significant (P < 0.01) reduction in serum urate level and also inhibited hepatic XO/XDH activities when compared to hyperuricemic mice. These inhibitory effects were weaker than that observed for the standard drug, allopurinol (10 mg/kg, p.o.). Lineweaver-Burk analysis of the enzyme kinetics indicated that the mode of inhibition was of a mixed type. These results suggest that the use of Coccinia grandis leaves for the treatment of gout could be attributed to its XO inhibitory activity.

Objectives : The Lycoris squamigera Maxim has been used traditionally for treatment of various diseases. However, the studies on the effect of Lycoris squamigera Maxim have not been carried out. In the present study, extract of Lycoris squamigera Maxim were tested for their anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidation effect. Methods : The anti-inflammatory effect of the various solvent extract was studied in lipopolysaccharide (lps)-treated mouse macrophage cells. RAW 264.7 cells were pre-incubated with Lycoris squamigera Maxim extracts for 4h and treated with $1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ lps for 18h, and then the anti-inflammatory effects of extracts were determined. The anti-oxidation effect of extracts measured by DPPH method, reductive potential test, total phenolics test. Results : Extracted root's ethyl acetate layer showed a significant decrease in nitric oxide. And that layer (root's ethyl acetate extract) was showed decrease in TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration dependently. Separated from Root's ethyl acetate extract was fraction 1 has $0.1{\sim}5\;{\mu}M$ range, fraction 2 has $0.1{\sim}10\;{\mu}M$ range did not showed cytotoxicity. Anti-oxidation result as DPPH test showed the best was root ethyl acetate extract. Redusing power was made a comparison between fractions and standard. They were showed similar value. Fraction's total phenol containing result was better then standard. Conclusions : These results suggest that these extracts can be used as anti-inflammatory, anti-axidation materials.

This Study has treated the effects of fiber, surfactants, temperature, surfactant concentration, pH, electrolyte, fatty acid contents and mechanical force on the removal of particulate soil from fabric, vacuum cleaner dirt was used as model particulate soil. The fabrics were soiled with mixture of vacuum cleaner dirt and fatty soil, and washed in Terg-O-tometer. The detergency was evaluated by measuring reflectance of a fabric before and after washing. The results were as follows. 1. The fiber type showed a different pattern of soil removal with surfactants. In general, particulate soil removal increased in the following order Acetate>PET. Nylon>Cotton. Particulate soil removal, which is affected by the surfactant type, increased in the following order NPE $(EO)_{10}\leqq$Soap>SLS>DBS>Tween 80. 2. The influence of temperature on the particulate soil removal was very complex because efficiency of removal was varied with surfactant and fiber types. The washing efficiency of NPE $(EO)_{10}$ was highest at around $40^{\circ}C\;and\;60^{\circ}C$ with cotton and PET but the washing efficiency of DBS was the highest at $60^{\circ}C$ with cotton, decreased monotonously with increasing temperature with PET 3. The detergency of particulate soil increased with increasing surfactant concentration at relatively low concentration and then levelled off above some optimum concentration. 4. The removal of particulate soil increased with increasing pH and mechanical force. 5. Effect of electrolyte on the particulate soil removal was depended on the concentration of the surfactant. At low concentration of surfactant, addition of electrolytes improved soil removal but above the some concentration no effect was observed. At high concentration of surfactant, Vie., $0.6\%$ , the maximum washing effect is reached without added electrolyte. These result indicate that added electrolyte only influence the adsorption of surfactant on the soil and fiber 6. Fatty acid content in the soil did not influence on particulate soil removal without regard to surfactants.

We fabricated high transmission and high scattering poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate)(EVA) films embedding $SiO_2$ nanoparticles to improve outcoupling efficiency in organic display. The 800nm diameter $SiO_2$ nanoparticles aggregated and formed $1.56{\mu}m$ (with ${\pm}0.853{\mu}m$ standard deviation) diameter microparticles in EVA. The total transmission of scattering film was 83.3% on Polyethylene terephthalate(PET), which was higher than reference 82.8% PET substrate. The diffuse transmission and haze of the $SiO_2$ embedded EVA film were 76.1% and 91.4%, respectively. The optimized condition was 1:1 weight ratio of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles to EVA in Tetrahydrofuran(THF) solution. When the ratio of $SiO_2$ was larger than 1, the total transmission decreased by the increase in backscattering of light due to high scattering. With the optimized condition, we could succeed to fabricate a large scale film(35m in length) with a roll-to-roll process.

Lyophilized DOTMP kits were prepared using DOTMP, ammonium acetate, and ascorbic acid. The $^{68}Ga$-DOTMP was prepared by incubating the kit dissolved in 0.5 ml of concentrated $^{68}Ga$ using NaCl method and 0.5 ml of DDW, at $100^{\circ}C$ for 7 min. The labeling yield was evaluated by two solvent systems of TLC. 1 MBq of concentrated $^{68}Ga$ was labeled with $0.8{\mu}g$ of DOTMP by high radiolabeling yield (>98%), which was determined by two TLC methods. The composition of the prepared freeze-dried vial is $400{\mu}g$ of DOTMP, 19.27 mg of ammonium acetate and 17.62 mg of ascorbic acid. ~555 MBq of $^{68}Ga$-DOTMP was prepared with excellent radiochemical purity (>98%) and it was stable for 4 hr at room temperature. In conclusion, Freeze-dried DOTMP kits for the convenient preparation of $^{68}Ga$-DOTMP have been developed. Availability of this kit is expected to stimulate the widespread use of $^{68}Ga$-DOTMP in the fields of nuclear medicine.

This study was carried to evaluate mechanical characteristics of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) fabrics (by Kawabata evaluation system(KES)) which was systematically treated with $O_2$ low temperature plasma and chitosan acetate solution. Furthermore, surface structure was investigated by SEM, AFM, air permeability and wettability. Tensile energy(WT), shear rigidity(G) and surface roughness(MIU) properties calculated by KES-FB have increased with increasing plasma treatment time, while bending rigidity(G) and energy of compression(WC) value were decreased compared with those of the untreated. SEM photographs showed the identification of chitosan coating but did not confirm the plasma etching structure. Air permeability was decreased according to plasma treatment time with increasing concentrations of chitosan. The water absorption rate made rapid progress by chitosan treatment.
Charcoal dyed fabrics have been widely used in home textiles and functional clothing due to their anti-statics, antibacterial, deodorization, far infrared emitting and anion releasing. Soybean fiber were regenerated from soybean. Soybean fiber have biodegradable, microbiocidal, non-allergic, and anti-ageing properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dyeing characteristics of soybean fabric using charcoal as colorants. Soybean fabrics were dyed with charcoal solution according to concentration of charcoal, dyeing temperature, and dyeing time. To improve washing fastness and investigate mordanting condition, soybean fabric and dyed soybean fabric with charcoal were mordanted by mordanting agents such as $CH_3COOH$(acetic acid), NaCl(sodium chloride) and $AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$(Aluminium Potassium Sulfate). Dyeability and color characteristics of charcoal dyed soybean fabric were obtained by computer color matching and SEM morphology analysis. Particle size of charcoal and color fastness were also investigated. The results obtained were as follows; Mean average diameter of charcoal was $1.39{\mu}m$. The dyeability of soybean fabric using charcoal as colorants was increased gradually with increasing concentration of charcoal dyeing solution and saturated at about 8%(o.w.b.). The optimum dyeing temperature and dyeing time were $90{\sim}105^{\circ}C$ and 60~90 minutes respectively. The overall wash fastness at dyeing concentration 2~4%(o.w.b.) and 6~10%(o.w.b.) were 4 degree and 3-4 degree respectively. The fastness to washing according to mordanting method indicated good grade result as more than 4 degree in all conditions. On the other hand, the staining of adjacent fabrics, i.e. PET, Acryl, Wool, Acetate, Nylon and Cotton was found to be of grade 4 or 4-5 in all conditions.
