  • This paper first outlines the technology used in Power Line Communications(PLC) systems, and the political support being offered to the technology, from the point of view of its effect on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The radio spectrum needs protection from other interferers, and there is a regime in place to provide this interference avoidance/mitigation. Nevertheless, PLC has several features that mean that it is capable of creating such interference. These features are discussed, and some published field trial results are reviewed. Difficulties in achieving compatibility between the requirements for radio protection and the requirements for operation of the PLC system mean that there is no consensus as yet as to how PLC system components can be made compliant with EMC requirements. It is concluded that there is little prospect of an accommodation between the competing demands, so that if PLC is to become widespread it will be at the expense of the radio environment.

  • The scope of this study is focused on the survey of new logistics transportation systems in railroad and case studies of new systems such as piggyback system, bi-modal system swapbody, and double stack train(DST). Piggyback system, bi-modal system, swapbody, and double stack train are reviewed in term of technological validity and economic validity in Korea. Piggyback - trailer does pass loaded weight limits but does not pass train limits and can not utilize the existing freight cars. Piggyback - cargo trunk does pass all the criteria and could be developed by a domestic technology. But this study suggests to expand the length of train cars to 18.300mm for accommodation of two cargo trucks. Bi-modal system and swapbody do also pass. Double stack train could only pass the loaded weights and does not meet the train limit and the possibility of using existing freight cars. Domestic technology could not development DST, due to civil engineering construction limits and low standard height of electric line, which could not afford to operate DST.

  • Urban construction has numerous difficulties due to ground weakness and various complaints from third party, so it is not economically efficient and constructability is not favorable. Therefore, underground, which has good ground conditions, was used for construction field and facilities such as stations, and they are scaled up to enhance accommodation of facility limitation and function of stations. Large section tunnel station construction has numerous risk factors such as work boundary of excavation equipment, a relaxation of stress concentration, a safety plan of tunnel stability, and so on. Therefore, by using large section tunnel station stability analysis considering construction step, we expect to analyze the latent problem during construction, and to stabilize a future project plan of a large section structure design by using an auxiliary method and a support design.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the subjective ideas about the determinants of quality in ambulatory care unit among outpatients and medical staff of a university hospital, and to compare the differences of the ideas, between patients themselves and hospital staff. A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted covering 799 outpatients and 190 hospital staff in March, 1998. The questionnaire included general characteristics and 26 determinants of ambulatory care quality. The following are summaries of the findings: 1. Both of outpatients and hospital staff perceived, "Physician's knowledge" as the most important determinant of medical care quality. 2. In respect of 7 determinants related to physician's knowledge and skill, both outpatients and hospital staff perceived "physician's knowledge and skill" as important determinants. The scores of determinants such as, "Not doing unnecessary examinations", and "Assignment of adequate number of patients and duty schedule for the physician" were significantly different between outpatients and hospital staff. 3. In respect of 4 determinants related to doctor-patient relationship, both outpatients and hospital staff perceived "attention to patient's complaints" as the most important determinant. The scores related to the determinants such as "kindness of physician" and "explanation of treatment outcome" were significantly different between outpatients and hospital staff. 4. Among the amenities related determinants, "Modern facilities and equipments" were perceived as the most important determinant in both group. 5. In respect of 8 determinants related to non-financial accommodation, outpatients perceived, "Waiting hours for treatment" as the most important determinant, and hospital staff perceived, "Kindness of hospital staff". 6. In respect of 4 determinants related to financial accommodation, outpatients perceived, "Fare account of medical cost" as the most important determinant, and hospital staff perceived, "Increasing reimbursements". Further comprehensive research should be made on the evaluation of perceptions of medical care quality, both of outpatient and inpatient care, among patients and hospital staff. So good quality in medical care will be achieved based on clients' needs.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parent expectation and satisfaction with respect to pediatric inpatient care and to identify the variables related to parent satisfaction. Methods: The study was conducted in pediatric wards of a tertiary children's hospital in Korea. The participants were 361 parents of children who were inpatients. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire (The Pediatric Family Satisfaction Questionnaire) at the time of discharge. Results: The highest parent expectation domain was medical service. The parents were most satisfied with nursing service and least satisfied with general hospital service and accommodation. The parents expressed lower satisfaction with hospital facilities, equipment, noise, cleanliness, and communication by health care professionals. Parents with younger children reported higher expectation from the complete hospital service and those who had a longer length of stay reported higher expectation from the nursing service. Conclusion: To improve the quality of hospital services, we need to understand parent expectation and improve and provide clear communication. In addition, the general hospital service and accommodation should not be overlooked for improvement.

  • Various experience keywords were derived through text mining analysis of two National Ecological and Cultural Exploration Routes. The results of this study were drawn as follows: The interaction between the experience keywords was analyzed by the degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality value calculated through the centrality analysis of the research site experience keywords. First, In the text mining analysis, 'walking' appeared as the top keyword in the I, II, and III periods of the two target areas. The keywords related to the stay type of "rental cottage" and "recreational forest" were derived for Masil Road in relation to accommodation facilities. However, the keywords related to the accommodation were not derived in Gubul Road. Second, as a result of the centrality analysis, the degree centrality of the keywords "walking", "sea", "look", "salt flats" of Masil Road and "walking", "lake" and "park" of Gubul Road was high. The keywords located at the center are "walking" and "sea" in the Masil Road, and "walking" in the Gubul Road. As an influential keyword, Masil Road is "experience" and Gubul Road is "history". Third, According to the results of the analysis, the keywords that appeared at the top of the Gubul Road are derived from the keywords related to the 1 ~ 8 course, and it is judged that the visitors are visiting the 1 ~ 8 course trail evenly. However, the Gubul Road only appears in the top keyword only for a few courses. Through this, it seems that three courses are intensively visited as the main course of 6 Gubul Road, 6-1 Gubul Road, and 8 Gubul Road.

  • The tourism industry is facing a crisis due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and it is vital to improving profitability to overcome it. In situations such as COVID-19, it would be more efficient to sell additional products other than guest rooms to customers who have visited to increase the unit price rather than adopting an aggressive sales strategy to increase room occupancy to increase profits. Previous tourism studies have used machine learning techniques for demand forecasting, but there have been few studies on cross-selling forecasting. Also, in a broader sense, a resort is the same accommodation industry as a hotel. However, there is no study specialized in the resort industry, which is operated based on a membership system and has facilities suitable for lodging and cooking. Therefore, in this study, we propose a cross-selling prediction model using various machine learning techniques with an actual resort company's accommodation data. In addition, by applying the explainable artificial intelligence XAI(eXplainable AI) technique, we intend to interpret what factors affect cross-selling and confirm how they affect cross-selling through empirical analysis.

  • Reunification and economic development are discussed as the national visions of the Korean Peninsula in the 21st century. In particular, the tourism industry must be included as one of goals pursued under these visions because tourism indeed seeks for the happiness and peace of human beings. Mt. Kumgang tour began on November 18, 1998 and a land route to Mt. Kumgang also opened on September 1, 2002. These historical events have brought huge changes in the tourism industry of South and North Korea, and over 1,000 tourists are enjoying the Mt. Kumgang tour everyday. Nevertheless, the Mt. Kumgang International Tourism Zone is still poor in tourist accommodations as well as tourism infrastructure. Legal and institutional systems as an international tourism zone have not been established, and incidental and convenience facilities are insufficient. All these problems make it difficult to operate the special zone. Thus, this study set the following objectives to solve these problems: Establish systematic theories on the Mt. Kumgang International Tourism Zone, analyze theories on external factors, factors affecting tourist accommodation expansion, and use the findings as basic materials for tourist accommodation expansion strategies.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of payment of accommodation charge to hotel customers and to analyze the differences in hotel choice factors according to the level of payment(low, medium and high prices) to present marketing measures for attracting customers by hotel price range. To achieve the purpose of research, a survey was conducted on hotel customers from February 1, 2020 to April 30, 2020. A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed, eliminating 45 inappropriate copies for analysis, and finally utilizing 305 questionnaires for analysis. According to the analysis, among the basic factors, the biggest difference between groups was hotel size, breakfast menu, restaurants, and auxiliary facilities. It was analyzed that there are differences between groups in the amenity section in the room factor and outside tourism programs in the incidental factor. The main factors were analyzed as the most important factor, although there were no differences between groups. Based on this, the marketing plan is proposed as follows. Low-cost hotels are targeted at women in their 20s with high school diplomas, and it is recommended to have low-cost price policies and promotions. Mid-priced hotels are targeted at men in their 40s with college degrees, and they should strive to operate shuttle buses, promote room prices, and educate employees. In the case of high-priced hotels, it was analyzed that overall service reinforcement, employee education, and viral marketing are important, targeting high school graduates in their 20s.
