산업단지 유형에 따른 교통사고 특성 비교 분석 (Comparative analysis of Traffic Accidents Characteristics using Various Types of Industrial Complexes)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to identify the characteristics affecting traffic accidents that have occurred in 564 industrial complexes nationwide from 2011 to 2015. METHODS : The traffic accidents were specified using various factors such as industrial complex type (national VS. general), industrial complex degradation (old VS. non-old), location of complex (capital VS. non-capital), and traffic law violation (speeding, signal violation, and median invasion). The average number of crashes and accident ratio (fatal, severe, and both) in terms of characteristics of industrial complexes were calculated. With a sample of crashes of the industrial complexes for 5 years, statistical significances were tested to analyze and compare the differences based on industrial complex and traffic law characteristics using parametric and non-parametric methods. RESULTS : From statistical results, it is observed that the crash frequency occurring in old industrial complexes is three times higher than that in non-old industrial complexes. Old industrial complexes located in a capital area, old national industrial complexes, and old general industrial complexes are considerably related to higher crash frequency, but the fatal accident ratio appeared to have no statistical difference across industrial complex characteristics. Severe crashes are more likely to occur in non-old industrial complexes on an average. CONCLUSIONS : It is necessary to eliminate potential threats to roads and traffic in the same manner as illegal parking in industrial complexes through the restoration of old industrial complexes. To improve the efficiency of road infrastructure, efforts should be made to improve traffic safety in accordance with industrial characteristics such as planning and operation of relevant local government programs.

고속도로 선형조건과 GIS 기반 교통사고 위험도지수 분석 (호남.영동.중부고속도로를 중심으로) (A GIS-based Traffic Accident Analysis on Highways using Alignment Related Risk Indices)

  • 본 논문에서는 GIS(Geographic Information System:지리정보체계)를 기반으로 도로의 선형조건을 이용하여 고속도로의 사고위험도를 파악하고 평가할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. 고속도로 평면곡선부에 대한 다양한 사고분석을 통해 도로의 선형조건이 교통사고에 미치는 영향을 규명하였으며. 이 결과를 토대로 사고예측모형을 구축하였다. 특히 사고영향인자를 규명하는 데에 있어서는 도로선형요소의 상호작용과 선형의 연속성을 반영함으로써 보다 현실적이고 객관적인 예측모형을 구축할 수 있도록 하였다. 아울러 사고예측모형의 추정결과와 사고자료를 토대로 고속도로의 선형조건에 따른 종합적인 사고위험도지수를 설정하고 이에 대한 평가기준을 마련하였다. 한편 주어진 도로선형조건에 따라 사고발생가능성을 예측하고 사고위험도를 평가하는 일련의 과정을 GIS와 결합하여 프로그래밍 함으로써 해당구간의 사고율 사고위험도지수, 위험도평가등급이 자동적으로 결정될 수 있게 하였을 뿐만 아니라 관련정보 및 평가결과를 시각적으로 제공하여 이용자가 보다 쉽게 이해하고 편리하게 사용할 수 있는 사고위험도 평가 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 사고예측모형과 이를 토대로 설정한 사고위험도지수 및 위험도평가등급은 안전하고 비용-효율적인 도로설계에 도움을 줄 수 있을 뿐 만 아니라, 사고취약구간에 대한 대책 마련에도 이바지 할 것으로 기대된다.

시내버스 운전자의 고령화에 따른 교통사고 저감대책 마련에 관한 실증적 연구 (Measures of Reducing Traffic Accidents by Aging Bus Drivers)

  • 시내버스 준공영제 시행은 시내버스 운전자의 신분안정과 근무환경, 복지의 향상을 가져왔다. 이러한 혜택은 시내버스 운전자의 이직을 방지하여 시내버스 운전자들의 연령이 증가하고 있다. 시내버스 준공영제 시행 후 시내버스 교통사고 중 사망사고가 증가하는 등의 부작용이 사회적 문제로 부각되고 있다. 이러한 시내버스 준공영제로 인한 문제점을 최소화하기 위하여 시내버스 교통사고의 저감대책 마련 시 운전자의 연령 증가와 이로 인한 고령운전자의 운전행동 특성을 반영한 교통사고 저감대책 마련의 필요성이 최근 부각되고 있다. 기존의 고령운전자의 교통사고저감 대책 마련은 단순한 정책방향이 대부분이었다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 실제교통사고 야기자인 고령운전자와 비고령운전자를 대상으로 설문조사와 함께 운전정밀적성검사를 통하여 운전행동특성을 파악하였다. 그 결과 고령운전자의 운전행동특성을 정확하게 알 수 있었다. 또한, 구조방정식을 통한 고령운전자 행동 특성 분석모형 결과를 통해 고령운전자의 교통사고 저감대책을 마련, 제시 할 수 있었다.

Intensity estimation with log-linear Poisson model on linear networks

  • Purpose: The statistical analysis of point processes on linear networks is a recent area of research that studies processes of events happening randomly in space (or space-time) but with locations limited to reside on a linear network. For example, traffic accidents happen at random places that are limited to lying on a network of streets. This paper applies techniques developed for point processes on linear networks and the tools available in the R-package spatstat to estimate the intensity of traffic accidents in Leon County, Florida. Methods: The intensity of accidents on the linear network of streets is estimated using log-linear Poisson models which incorporate cubic basis spline (B-spline) terms which are functions of the x and y coordinates. The splines used equally-spaced knots. Ten different models are fit to the data using a variety of covariates. The models are compared with each other using an analysis of deviance for nested models. Results: We found all covariates contributed significantly to the model. AIC and BIC were used to select 9 as the number of knots. Additionally, covariates have different effects such as increasing the speed limit would decrease traffic accident intensity by 0.9794 but increasing the number of lanes would result in an increase in the intensity of traffic accidents by 1.086. Conclusion: Our analysis shows that if other conditions are held fixed, the number of accidents actually decreases on roads with higher speed limits. The software we currently use allows our models to contain only spatial covariates and does not permit the use of temporal or space-time covariates. We would like to extend our models to include such covariates which would allow us to include weather conditions or the presence of special events (football games or concerts) as covariates.

철도 건널목 사고의 발생빈도 특성분석 연구 (Analysis of the Characteristic of Railroad(level-crossing) Accident Frequency)

  • Railroad traffic accident consists of train accident, level-crossing accident, traffic death and injury accident caused by train or vehicle, and it is showing a continuous downward trend over a long period of time. As a result of the frequency comparison of train accidents and level-crossing accidents using the railway accident statistics data of Railway Industry Information Center, the share of train accident is over 90% in the 1990s and 80% in the 2000s more than the one of level-crossing accidents. In this study, we investigated time series characteristic and short-term prediction of railroad crossing, as well as seasonal characteristic. The analysis data has been accumulated over the past 20 years by using the frequency data of level-crossing accident, and was used as a frequency data per month and year. As a result of the analysis, the frequency of accident has the characteristics of the seasonal occurrence, and it doesn't show the significant decreasing trend in a short-term.

  • The airline industry has been growing steadily since 2016 with more than 100 million air passengers, renewing the largest number of air passengers every year. Increasing air demand leads to an increase in air traffic in limited airspace, increasing the likelihood of accidents between aircraft. Due to the massive human and material damage caused by a single mistake, aviation safety is being heavily focused around the world to efficiently use limited airspace. Studies related to various human factors are underway as most of the aviation accidents are found to be caused by human factors, but research on human factors by controllers is insufficient while they are active in terms of control and operation. Given that 82% of air accidents caused by controllers are caused by human error, the importance of management of human error and changes in perception are urgently needed. This study aims to understand the seriousness of the controller's human error by analyzing the accident cases caused by the controller's human error using TEM to identify threats and errors and derive common human factors.

거시적 교통류모형을 이용한 고속도로 돌발상황에 따른 탄소배출량 산정연구 (Estimating Carbon Emissions due to Freeway Incidents by Using Macroscopic Traffic Flow Models)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology for estimating additional carbon emissions due to freeway incidents. METHODS : As our country grows, our highway policy has mainly neglected the environmental and social sectors. However, with the formation of a national green growth keynote and an increase in the number of people interested in environmental and social issues, problems related to social issues, such as traffic accidents and congestion, and environmental issues, such as the impact of air pollution caused by exhaust gases that are emitted from highway vehicles, are beginning to be discussed. Accordingly, studies have been conducted on a variety of environmental aspects in the field of road transport, and for the quantitative calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, using various methods. However, in order to observe the effects of carbon emissions, microscopic simulations must use many difficult variables such as cost, analysis time, and ease of analysis process. In this study, additional greenhouse gas emissions that occur because of highway traffic accidents were classified by type (incident handling time, number of lanes blocked, freeway level of service), and the annual additional emissions based on incidents were calculated. According to the results, congestion length and emissions tend to increase with an increase in incident clearance time, number of occupied lanes, and worsening level of service. Using this data, we analyzed accident data on the Gyeong-bu Expressway (Yang-Jae IC - Osan IC) for a year. RESULTS : Additional greenhouse gas emissions that occur because of highway traffic accidents were classified by type (incident handling time, number of lanes blocked, freeway level of service) and annual additional emissions caused by accidents were calculated. CONCLUSIONS : In this study, a methodology for estimating carbon emissions due to freeway incidents was developed that incorporates macroscopic flow models. The results of the study are organized in the form of a look-Up table that calculates carbon emissions rather easily.

어린이 보호구역 주·정차 방지시스템 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Establishment of a Parking and Stopping Prevention System in Child Protection Zone)

  • 초등학교 주변에는 교통약자인 어린이 교통사고를 예방하기 위하여 어린이 보호구역내 스쿨존(school zone)을 지정하여 이 구역내에서는 차량 운행속도를 30km/h 미만으로 운행함에 따라 주·정차가 금지되어 있다. 하지만 우리나라는 OECD 국가 중 어린이 교통사고 사망률이 1위라는 불명예를 안고 있다. 이와 같은 배경하에 본 연구는 어린이 보호구역에서의 다양한 도로여건에 따라 불법 주·정차 차량으로 인한 운전자 시야확보 및 주행차량에 대한 인지의 어려움 등이 상존하고 있어, 이에 어린이 보호구역 내에 불법 주·정차방지 시스템을 구축함으로써 교통약자인 어린이들에 대해 교통사고방지와 운전자 안전운전에 대한 경각심 증진에 기여하기 위함에 연구의 목적을 두었다. 연구 방법으로는 주요선행연구와 문헌조사 및 분석을 바탕으로 주·정차방지시스템에 대한 구축방안을 제시하였다. 구축방안을 통해 교통사고 방지, 스마트한 운전자의 안전운행 유도, 보행자 안전의식 강화, 운전자의 안전의식 경각심 유도 등 효과를 기대할 수 있다.

고속도로 화물차 교통사고 건수 예측모형 및 안전등급 개발 연구 (Study on the Development of Truck Traffic Accident Prediction Models and Safety Rating on Expressways)

  • 본 연구에서는 전국 고속도로를 대상으로 화물차 교통사고에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인을 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위해, 고속도로 교통사고 자료들과 포아송 및 음이항 회귀모형을 이용하여 화물차 교통사고 건수 예측모형을 개발하였다. 모형에서 유의한 것으로 확인된 변수는 화물차 연속주행시간지수, 구간연장, 화물차 교통량, 구간내 교량 수, 졸음쉼터 개수이다. 또한, 구축된 예측모형을 이용하여 고속도로 구간별 안전등급(level of service of safety, LOSS)을 도출하였다. 이후 LOSS를 전국 고속도로 네트워크에 표출하여 고속도로 구간별 화물차 교통사고 위험도를 진단하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 모형과 LOSS는 고속도로에서의 화물차 교통사고 저감을 위한 정책수립의 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

철도안전의 6시그마 기법 적용방안 연구 (A Study on the Application of the Six Sigma Techniques to Railway Safety)

  • Using transportations like railway, aviations and roads has been increasing continuously. Traffic accidents have been increasing as well. To prevent or lessen these accidents become a big issue to solve. Therefore, more enforced safety levels are being required to meet. In railway field, continuous efforts of railway safety are being executed to prevent traffic accidents. In present, a railway accident has been decreasing since subway accident happened in Daegu Subway in 2003. However, safety levels in railway field have not yet achieved as much as in advanced countries. Basic concept for enforced safety level in railway system is to prevent or minimize accidents by managing systems like related facilities, management method, organization, education. This is the same concept to minimize error rate in six sigma theory. In this paper, we are to apply six sigma techniques used in manufacturing industry to railway safety and go through ways to make more efficient railway safety system.
