  • This study compared and analyzed existing research on dispersion models and selected the EPA's Industrial Source Complex(ISC) model as a model suitable for the domestic petrochemical industry for 3-dimensional simulation and developed a simulation system applying. 3-dimensional algorithm with this ISC dispersion model as a basis As a result of this study, the 3D dispersion model based on ISC can help estimate a exact accident damage zone, make a emergency plan and control a ignition source.

  • The crawler crane, which consists of a lattice boom, a driving system, and movable vehicle, is widely used in a construction site. It needs to be installed an overload limiter to prevent the overturning accident and the fracture of structure. This research is undertaken to provide the relation formula for designing the overload limiter as follows: First the relation formulas between the wire-rope tension and the hoisting load or the overturning ratio according to the luffing angle and length of a lattice boom are established. Secondly the derived formulas are corrected by using the compensated angle considering the deflection of boom through the finite element analysis. The stiffness analysis is carried out for 30-kinds of models as a combination of 6-kinds of luffing angle and 5-kinds of length of boom. Finally the shape design of a stick type load cell, which is the device to measure the wire-rope tension, is performed. 5-kinds of notch radius and 5-kinds of center hole radius are adopted as the design parameter for the strength analysis of the load cell.

  • The marine traffic congestion has increased due to the expansion of vessel traffic volume in Korean coastal waterway these days. Heavy traffic could bring serious marine casualties which cause the loss of human lives, properties and marine pollution in coastal area. In this paper, the probability analysis of marine casualties in Korean coast. To achieve this aim, clears up the cause of accident and examines closely the mutual relations among marine casualties, weather condition, and marine traffic volume. These casualties are classified into several patterns or the point of view of ship's size, ship's type and ship's age and its characteristics of each pattern are described In detail.

  • In the nuclear power plant, emergency core coolant system(ECCS) is furnished at reactor coolant system(RCS) in order to cool down high temperature water in case of emergency. However, in this coolant system, it occurs thermal stratification phenomena in case that there is the mixing of cooling water and high temperature water due to valve leakage in ECCS. This thermal stratification phenomena raises excessive thermal stresses at pipe wall. Therefore, this phenomena causes the accident that reactor coolant flows in reactor containment in the nuclear power plant due to the deformation of pipe and thermal fatigue crack(TFC) at the pipe wall around the place that it exists. Hence, in order to fundamental identification of this phenomena, it requires the experimental research of modeling test in the pipe flow that occurs thermal stratification phenomena. So, this paper models RCS and ECCS pipe arrangement and analyzes the mechanism of thermal stratification phenomena by measuring of temperature in variance with leakage flow rate in ECCS modeled pipe and Reynold number in RCS modeled pipe. Besides, results of this experiment is compared with computational analysis which is done in advance.

  • This paper presents the analysis results for the core degradation processes and the fission product release of the PHEBUS FPT0 experiment using MELCOR1.8.3. The objective of this study is to assess models associated with the core damage and fission product behavior in MELCOR. The calculation results were much improved through sensitivity studies. Thermal/hydraulic behavior in the core and the circuit was well predicted under the intact core geometry. In non-eutectic model case. the UO$_2$ dissolution model in the MELCOR always showed such a tendency that the resulting dissolved UO$_2$ mass was small at the highly oxidized condition due to the model logic. Total H$_2$ generation mass was underpredicted because the stiffner was not modeled and the liner in the shroud was not allowed to be oxidized in MELCOR. Some difficulties were found in modeling the activation product were solved by manipulating the RN input associated with the initial fission product inventory. These problem were occurred because there are no control rod model in MELCOR. Generally the fission product release ratio showed a similar trend compared with the measured data except the activation product. which have no model to simulate in MELCOR.

Unmet Need and Inappropriate Use in Emergency Ambulance Service (응급 환자 이송서비스의 적절성: 미충족 의료와 부적절한 이용)

  • Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of an emergency ambulance system and to investigate socio-economic and clinical characteristics associated with emergency ambulance service. Methods: Based on 2011 Korea health panel, unmet need and inappropriate use of emergency ambulance service were measured by Gibson in 1977. Furthermore, the factors associated with unmet need and inappropriate use of emergency ambulance service were identified by Fisher's exact tests and multiple logistic regression models. Results: Unmet need, defined as the proportion of emergency patients who clinically need ambulance transportation but do not receive it, was found to be 59.8%. Inappropriate use, defined as the proportion of emergency patient receiving ambulance care who did not clinically need it, was found to be 37.2%. There were statistically significant differences between appropriate and inappropriate groups in overall variables of socio-economic and clinical characteristics. Specifically, gender, age, relationship to household, and reasons of visiting emergency department (accident/disease) were statistically significant factors associated with appropriate use of emergency ambulance service. Conclusion: Unmet ambulance need is a useful measure for patients needs assessment, and inappropriate ambulance use is a valid criteria in judging the efficiency of emergency ambulance system. To improve and understand emergency ambulance system, unmet need and inappropriate use of emergency ambulance service should be more concerned.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the needs for children's health promotion education programs as perceived by child care center teachers and mothers. Methods: This study conducted a survey of 88 child care center teachers and 70 mothers of preschool children in Seoul from January 4 to February 5, 2016. This study aimed to characterize the current conditions of health promotion education for preschool children and the needs for health promotion education as perceived by child care center teachers and mothers of preschool children. Results: Areas of high need for health promotion education included lifestyle improvements for preventing diseases in children and awareness of the importance of health in educational objectives, standardized educational manuals, health educators as educators, child care centers as educational places, local health centers as educational support organizations, regular class hours as educational time, role play for training, and actual models in the educational medium. The educational subjects for which a high need was reported included safety and accident prevention, the role of smartphones and TV watching in mental health, and personal hygiene and disease prevention. Conclusion: These findings suggest that it is necessary to develop a health promotion education program for preschool children.

  • 항공기반시설(공항, 기상 서비스, 항로 항행시설)에 대한 보안사고 대응을 위한 보안체계는 수립단계에서부터 착수하여 분석이 진행됨에 따라 세부적인 평가가 수행되어야하며, 시설변경이 발생하는 경우 변경된 시설에 대하여 재평가를 하여야 한다. 또한 항공기 운용과정에서 발생 가능한 각종 사고에 대한 사전 예방 및 정비를 위해서도 체계적인 보안성 평가가 필수적이다. 보안성 평가에는 계획(Plan), 활동(Do), 그리고 평가(Check), 조치(Action)업무가 네트워크 구조로 통합되어 적용되며, 과거의 사용 또는 경험에 따라 세분화된 보안성 평가 요구조건을 구분하여 적용한다. 특히 항공기반시설에 대한 보안성 입증과 안전한 운항을 보장하기 위하여 실시간 지원체계와 국가 차원에서 이를 관리하여야 한다. 이는 공공의 안전을 확보하기 위한 것으로서, 민간항공업체는 해당 법규, 표준서 및 지침 등에 따라 최소한의 보안성을 입증하여야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 항공기반시설에 대한 보안사고 대응을 위한 보안체계를 위해 설정된 보안의 목표를 충족하고 있는지를 확인 평가하고, 분석 등을 고려하여 종합적인 보안성 평가기법을 적용할 수 있도록 하는 보안체계 네트워크 모델에 대해 제시하고자 한다.

Analysis of Loss of Condenser Vacuum Accident using a Conservative Approach with a Best-Estimate Code (최적코드를 이용한 복수기진공상실 사고의 보수적 해석)

  • A methodology to determine the most conservative initial condition based on random sampling of operation parameters is established, in which a best-estimate computer code is adopted to minimize the conservatism in code models. To validate the applicability of the suggested method, safety evaluation for a transient of loss of condenser vacuum in a pressurized water reactor is performed. One-hundred different initial conditions are generated by MOSAIQUE program automatically and the peak pressure for the most conservative case is determined from transient analyses. The safety margin obtained with the new approach is almost equivalent to the values determined with the existing methodologies. It is found that the time and human resources required for the safety evaluation could be reduced with the suggested approach.

  • Safety' can be used in a variety of ways and may also have different meanings when used in theoretical field and routinely used. In this paper, the 'safety' means that human injury, fire or physical accident condition does not occur while used by the end-user. The meaning of safety may be different by era and culture. Even in contemporary era, the meaning can be used differently by country, region and culture. As the rights of consumers are increasingly reinforced, we can expect the acceptable risk or safety level can rise higher. In this paper, the R-map of Japan and the European risk assessment guidelines (RAPEX) were reviewed considering domestic incidents database status and its applicability. Because it is difficult to make a model based on a R-map, a revised model was developed mainly based on European Assessment Model with a combination of the important characteristics of Japan model R-map. Also utilizing this revised model, the availability as a new risk assessment model was confirmed by comparing the test results for the same scenarios to the other risk assessment model (RAPEX/RAG).
