The Impact of Senders' Identity to the Acceptance of Electronic Word-of-Mouth of Consumers in Vietnam

  • Studies related to Electronic Word-of-Mouth (eWOM) show that the acceptance of eWOM information is an important factor in customer purchase decisions. When consumers accept eWOM information, they tend to use that information in considering before making purchase decisions. In Viet Nam, there are few studies about eWOM information, especially on the acceptance of eWOM information. Research is conducted to test the influence of consumers on the perception of the senders' identity to the acceptance of online reviews (a kind of eWOM) in Viet Nam - a case study in Ho Chi Minh City. Using adjustment techniques, inspecting the scales and a theoretical model represent the relationship among the influential factors. The research is based on a sample of 522 consumers who use the Internet to search for product reviews before buying and used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the relationships among the variables. The research results show that the scales of the variables: Message Quality, Source Credibility, Perceived Message Usefulness, Perceived Senders' Identity, Perceived Message Credibility, Message Acceptance attain the validity and reliability in the research. The research contributes to the understanding of the determinants that influence the acceptance of eWOM information, which are informational factors, and factors related to consumer skepticism.

  • 최근 소비자들은 온라인상에서 다양한 온라인 구전정보를 접하고 있으며, 이러한 온라인 구전정보는 소비자 태도(구매의도)에 중요한 영향을 미치고 있다. 본 연구에서는 특정 대상이 아닌 일반적인 온라인 구전(eWOM) 특성이 신뢰에 미치는 영향과 신뢰가 구전수용, 구전수용이 구매의도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 온라인 구전 특성으로써 정보 특성을 동의성과 최신성, 커뮤니티 특성은 유대강도와 상호작용으로 구분하였다. 본 연구의 공헌은 첫째, 정보동의성은 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 정보최신성과 커뮤니티 특성(유대강도, 상호작용)은 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있다. 셋째, 신뢰는 구전수용에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있다. 마지막으로 구전수용은 구매의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

중국 패션상품 소비자들의 인터넷구전과 만족도에 대한 연구 (A Study on e-WOM and Satisfaction of Chinese Online Fashion Product Shoppers in Their 20s)

  • This study examined the e-WOM acception and transmission motive of Chinese online fashion product shoppers in their 20s and analyzed the effect of acception and transmission motive factors on acception and transmission behavior. This study investigated the effect of acception and transmission behaviors on purchase satisfaction. Analysis was conducted with data collected from 373 Chinese individuals in their 20s. Data were analyzed with factorial analysis, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, chi-square test, paired t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ using SPSS 18.0. The results were: 1. The factor analysis of e-WOM acception motive extracted two factors: risk reduction and confidence. The factor analysis of e-WOM transmission motive extracted three factors: Compensation/pleasure, advice, and emotion expression. 2. The two motives of e-WOM acception affected acception behavior. Confidence motive affected acception behavior more than risk reduction motive. The three motives of e-WOM transmission motives affected transmission behavior. Transmission behavior affected by advice, compensation/pleasure, and emotion expression in order of significance. 3. e-WOM acceptance behavior affected purchase satisfaction more than transmission behavior.

온라인 구전정보특성과 정보신뢰성이 지각된 정보유용성과 정보수용성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of e-WOM's Information Characteristics and Reliability of e-WOM's Information on e-WOM's Perceived Usefulness and Acceptance)

  • Today, the development of internet brings many changes in formation exploration and acceptance. Not only the customers can come into contact much information about the firm and its product by quick and easy search, but also they produce information by themselves or can spread the information via the internet. Nowadays, customers are progressive information explorer and producer on online. In this sense, this study examined the effects of e-word-of-mouth information characteristics on the consumer's perceived usefulness and perceived acceptance of e-word-of-mouth information in the food service industry in order to suggest directions to enhances marketing strategies for marketer. The research model for this study was designed based on the hypothesis that the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information and credibility of the information influenced both the user's perceived usefulness and acceptance. Based on total 277 customers obtained from the empirical research, this study reviewed validity, reliability and fitness of research model. The analysis results on these factors are as follow. First, the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information; vividness, consensus, direction had an influence on the customer's perceived usefulness. Second, the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information; vividness, consensus, direction had an influence on the customer's perceived acceptance. Third, the reliability of information had an influence on the customer's perceived usefulness and the credibility of e-word-of-mouth information perceived acceptance. Fourth, the customer's perceived usefulness had an influence on the customer's perceived acceptance.

온라인 구전 여행정보의 신뢰와 구전효과 연구 (Credibility of e-WOM in Travel Industry, and Its Influence in WOM Effect)

  • 오늘날 인터넷의 대중화가 이루어지면서 소비자들은 온라인 게시판 등을 통해 다양한 구전정보를 손쉽게 접할 수 있게 되었다. 여행에 있어 관광객의 정보교류 및 획득이 수월해짐에 따라 온라인 구전(e-WOM: Eloctronic Word-of-Mouth)은 현대사회에 있어서 가장 영향력 있는 커뮤니케이션 수단 중 하나로 부상하였다. 이는 여행사 입장에서도 중요한 의미를 갖는다고 하겠다. 이에 본 연구는 서울과 수도권에 재학중인 330명의 대학생을 대상으로 온라인 구전에 대한 신뢰, 브랜드 태도, 구전수용, 구전활동, 여행상품 구매의도 간의 관계를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 온라인 구전의 신뢰는 브랜드 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 브랜드 태도는 구전수용, 구전활동 및 여행상품 구매의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 구전수용은 구전활동에는 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 판명되었으나 여행상품 구매의도에는 유의하지 않은 결과로 나타났다. 따라서 여행사는 자사의 홈페이지나 브랜드 커뮤니티를 통한 온라인 구전의 관리에 있어서, 신뢰를 기반으로 한 긍정적 브랜드 태도의 형성을 통해 고객이 이를 적극적으로 수용하고 널리 전파하도록 노력해야 함을 시사한다.

유행선도력에 따른 온라인 구전활동 (The Effect of Fashion Leadership on Word of Mouth Communications on the Internet)

  • This research investigates the effect of fashion leadership on Word of Mouth (WOM) communications on the Internet. This research categorizes consumers into groups by fashion leadership and compares the groups regarding the WOM behavior (degrees of WOM acceptance and delivery as well as the motivations of WOM acceptance and delivery). The subjects of the study were 325 males and females. Major statistical methods used for the study were factor analysis, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$'s test, and chi-square test. The results categorized consumers into five groups by fashion leadership (dual leaders, fashion innovators, fashion opinion leaders, fashion followers, and fashion laggards). There were significant differences among fashion leadership groups over WOM behavior (acceptance and delivery) and monthly clothing expenditures. Fashion dual leaders had a higher degree of WOM acceptance with motivation of fashion information acquisition and compliance, and they had a higher degree of WOM delivery through motivation of economic compensation, pleasure, and advice. In addition, they had a higher expenditure for clothing products. Fashion innovators had a lower degree of compliance in WOM acceptance. Fashion opinion leaders had a higher degree of WOM delivery through motivation from advice. Fashion followers delivered WOM through motivation of economic compensation and advice. Fashion laggards had a lower degree of WOM acceptance and delivery.

SNS 정보원 특성이 온라인 CSR 구전수용과 기업태도에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Information Source Characteristics of SNS on eWOM Acceptance of CSR Information and Attitudes to the Company)

  • Interest in and use of social media as a communication channel are consistently evolving; in addition therefore, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities have been often conducted on online channels such as social media due to the advantages offered by the rapid spread of information. Consumers can be persuaded differently and their cognition can be influenced depending on who delivers what message. This study examines the influence of information source characteristics on eWOM acceptance of CSR messages and attitudes toward a company. This study compares cases: when a company sends their CSR message versus when an individual (i.e., consumer's acquaintance) sends the company's CSR message. A total of 320 respondents were presented with online stimuli and responded to the questionnaire to identify this phenomenon. Vegan fashion (which refers to products made from raw materials without animal cruelty) was used as stimuli in this study because it is a representative example of CSR activities. As a result, when consumers are exposed to CSR messages online, perceived expertise, trustworthiness and attractiveness of information source affect consumer's electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) acceptance and attitude toward a company. However, only trustworthiness influences eWOM acceptance in cases of a corporation information source. This study confirms the differences in eWOM acceptance and in attitudes to the company depending on to whom the messages were sent and with what content.

The Influences of Restaurant Consumers' Electronic Word-of-Mouth(E-WOM) Information Communication on Product Perception Risk, Benefit and WOM Effect

  • Purpose - This study is intended to look into the influences of restaurant consumers' e-WOM information communication on product perception risk, benefit and WOM effect. Research design, data, and Methodology - To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to 426 restaurant consumers. Results - The findings are as follows. First, the influence of e-WOM on product perception risk showed that WOM information sender characteristics, WOM information recipient characteristics and online community had a statistically significant positive influence on product perception risk. Second, the influence of e-WOM on product risk benefit showed that WOM information sender characteristics, WOM information recipient characteristics and online communication had a statistically significant positive influence on product risk benefit. Third, WOM risk perception had a statistically significant positive influence on WOM acceptance. Fourth, WOM risk benefit had a statistically significant positive influence on WOM effect. Conclusions - As for the above-mentioned findings, the communication between e-WOM sender and recipient had a positive influence on the product evaluation and attitude change in the restaurant industry, and the WOM effect had an influence on the financial performance and non-financial performance. The communication attaches importance to a direct using and tasting experience due to the nature of restaurant industry when it is simultaneously performed as a positive mechanism between sender and recipient through each channel of these factors. But the e-WOM culture can lead to the WOM effect when both sender and recipient share the persuasive communicability in reality that diversifies communication methods, having a positive influence on the management performance.

The Effect of Online WOM of Menu Product Consumers on Product Perception Risk and WOM Effect

  • Purpose: This study examined marketing value as online word-of-mouth media in the foodservice industry, and it did research on online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) communication marketing schemes using mass communication in the industry. The study is also intended to investigate the impact of electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) information and communication on product awareness risks, benefits, and word-of-mouth (WOM) impacts on restaurant consumers. Research design, data, and methodology: The analysis was conducted on a valid questionnaire of 425 menu product consumers. The survey was conducted for two months in March 2019. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS and hierarchical regression analysis was applied. Results: It did empirical research on the reciprocal casual relations to online and the existing word-of-mouth communication that have to be preceded to understand characteristics of online word-of-mouth communication for the purpose of this study. The result is summarized as follows. First, the online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) effect on product recognition risk shows the statistically significant effect of information sender characteristics, information recipient characteristics, and online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) communication on product recognition risk. Second, the influence of online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on product risk benefits shows that the information sender characteristics, the information receiver characteristics, and online communications have a statistically significant effect on product risk benefits. Third, online word of mouth risk recognition had a statistically significant effect on word of mouth acceptance. Fourth, online risk benefit had a statistically significant positive effect on word of mouth (WOM) effect. Conclusions: The communication between online word of mouth (e-WOM) sender and recipient had a positive influence on the product evaluation and attitude change in the foodservice industry, and the word-of-mouth (WOM) effect affected financial and non-financial performance. The results mentioned above indicated that the communication between the sender of the information and the receiver of the information had a positive effect on the product evaluation and attitude change of the menu consumer, and the word-of-mouth (WOM) result affected the financial. Therefore, the online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) effect has a positive effect on the word-of-mouth (WOM) effect of menu products when performed simultaneously and positively between the information sender and the information receiver.

소셜 미디어를 통한 국제관광 서비스 구전정보의 수용요인에 대한 실증분석 (Factor Analysis of Word-of-Mouth Information Acceptance about International Tourism Service through Social Media)

  • 웹 2.0 기술이 발전함에 따라 소셜 미디어는 더욱 확산되고 있으며 이를 통한 정보공유와 전파는 더욱 쉽고 신속하게 실현되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 이런 환경에서 소셜 미디어의 구전정보에 대한 수용성을 연구하고자 한다. 세부적으로는 국제 관광분야의 소셜 미디어 구전정보를 수용하는 결정요인들과, 수용의 결과로써 밸생되는 구매의도에 관한 영향성을 연구하고자 한다. 국제 관광상품은 고비용의 서비스상품으로서, 미리 직접 경험할 수 없고 불확실성이 높기 때문에 다른 사람이 전달하는 구전정보에 관심을 갖게 되다. 본 연구에서는 구전 발신자의 특성과 소비자 특성의 두 가지 측면을 고려하여 구전효과에 미치는 영향을 연구하고자 한다. 세부적으로는 구전정보의 수용성 연구 개념을 구전 메시지의 특성, 구전 수신자의 동기 및 관여도, 구전 발신자의 전문성 측면에서 고찰하였다. 또한 수집된 385부 설문지를 대상으로 SPSS, AMOS를 이용하여 실증적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 구전정보가 중립적일수록, 발신자가 전문적일수록, 수신자의 실용목적이 높을수록 구전정보를 유의미하게 수용하는 것으로 도출되었다. 또한, 소비자들의 수용성이 높을수록 구전정보를 더욱 전파하며, 긍정적으로 구매의도를 밝히는 것으로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 소셜 미디어를 통한 구전정보의 수용과정을 설명하고자 하는 연구로써 향후 서비스 분야의 구전정보 확산과정에 대한 연구들이 기대된다.
