  • This paper presents a design of the accelerate circuit for the conversion of the vector font data into the bit-mapped image. Among the Bezier curve algorithm, the subdivision algorithm gives the good performance and easy hardware implementation. The sequencer is realized by the proprammable gate array and the processing unit is composed of EPLDs and TTL ICs.

  • There are many methods to accelerate for consolidation of the soft ground but, in this study, only preloading method was used to improve the soft ground. To measure the settlement of soft ground, surface-settlement plates were installed at several points. To examine settlement behavior of soft ground, back analysis was done using the measured results. In the back analysis, consolidation parameter( $c_{v}$) were obtained and it was compared with test result for undisturbed sample.e.

  • Most water cannon machines use compressed gas to accelerate a piston which extrudes water through a cumulation nozzle. Very high jet stagnation-pressures can be achieved by using a specially-shaped nozzle which is initially filled with air or vacuum. The objective of this study was to establish the basic technology of water cannon using exponential type nozzle. An experimental water cannon including high pressure components such as exponential nozzle and 300atm air resrvior were designed and tested. Parameters that influence the performance of the system and jet characteristics were examined.

  • For many products failures depend on age and usage and, in this case, failures are random points in a two-dimensional plane with the two axes representing age and usage. Models play an important role in decision-making. In this research, an accelerate failure test (AFT) model is proposed to deal with the two-dimensional data. The parameters are proposed to be estimated through maximum likelihood estimators.

  • Solvent effects on the reactions of DANSYL and BANSYL chlorides with substituted pyridines have been investigated using two parameters of Taft's solvatochromic correlation and four parameters of Kirkwood-Onsager, Parker, Marcus, Hildebrand equation. The acetonitrile molecules accelerate charge separation of the reactants and stabilize the transition state. The coefficient of the solvent parameters provide a good information to predict and to analyze the reaction mechanism. The nucleophilic substitution reaction of DANSYL and BANSYL chlorides with substituted pyridines are ruled by the contribution of the change in dipole moment term and polarity-polarizability term.

  • The JAXA's TechCLEAN project(2003-present) is summarized, with the interim technical achievements. TechCLEAN is collateral program with the NEDO engine project to accelerate R&D work of small passenger aircraft engine as well as to develop innovative environment technologies applicable to the future improvements. In the project NOx reduction, CO2 reduction and noise reduction are targeted. Component level researches and system demonstrator validation are planned with test facility renovation and demonstration base engines.

X-ray properties of PWNe measured with the NuSTAR telescopes

  • Young pulsar wind nebulae, powered by energetic central pulsars, are often observed as bright extended sources in the X-ray band. They are believed to accelerate electrons and positrons to very high energy and can possibly explain the positron excess observed by Fermi and AMS. The electron distribution in these PWNe can be best studied by X-ray satellites because emission in the X-ray band is produced by direct synchrotron radiation of the electrons and positrons. We present NuSTAR studies of PWNe and discuss the implication. Future studies to help further our understanding of particle acceleration will be briefly discussed.

PRECONDITIONED SSOR METHODS FOR THE LINEAR COMPLEMENTARITY PROBLEM WITH M-MATRIX

  • In this paper, we consider the preconditioned iterative methods for solving linear complementarity problem associated with an M-matrix. Based on the generalized Gunawardena's preconditioner, two preconditioned SSOR methods for solving the linear complementarity problem are proposed. The convergence of the proposed methods are analyzed, and the comparison results are derived. The comparison results showed that preconditioned SSOR methods accelerate the convergent rate of the original SSOR method. Numerical examples are used to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • Microglial cell can act for phagocytosis against abnormal particles in brain, which means that beta-amyloid produced from APP(amyloid precursor protein) can be phagocytosed by microglia when released. In contrast. when senile plaque has already been formed in brain cortex and hippocamphal region, microglia can also accelerate the AD pathogenesis due to chronic inflammatory action, which lead to neuron cell cytotoxicity.
