In this research, isothermal conduction calorimetry analysis has been conducted to investigate the reactivity of alkali activated slag binders. In order to secure the reactivity and workability of alkali activated slag binders, experiences with various types and concentrations of alkali activators were performed. Isothermal conduction calorimetry were measured with different alkali activators and mass ratio of $SO_3$ to binders as variables, and sodium tripolyphosphate ($Na_2P_3O_{10}$) and hydrated sodium borate ($Na_2B_4O_710H_2O$) were used to control setting time. As a results, alkali activated slag binders required alkali activators with 4 to 5 percent of concentration to accelerate the formation of calcium silicate hydrate(C-S-H) by alkali-activation, and overall heat generation rate delayed as accumulated heat decreased due to the high $SO_3$ contents. Moreover, the use of hydrated sodium borate as setting retarder causes elongated setting time due to delaying heat generation, so it can be considered that setting retarder played an important role in delaying total heat generation rate.
The data collected to date indicate that sleep-related breathing disorders, including sleep-disordered breathing(sleep apnea) and underlying respiratory system diseases, are one of the important risk factors for cardiovascular dysfunction. Sleep-disordered breathing(sleep apnea) is now recognized as one of the leading causes of systemic hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure, and stroke. Sleep may exert a profound effect on breathing in patients with underlying respiratory system disease including bronchopumonary diseases, chest wall abnormalities, central alveolar hypoventilation syndromes or respiratory neuromuscular disorders. Chronic hypoxia and hypercapnia in these patients may accelerate the development of long term cardiovascular complications such as cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, and right heart failure(cor pulmonale). Several recent studies reported that sleep-related breathing disorders are associated with long-term cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Careful assessment of respiratory and cardiovascular function in these patients is critical. Aggressive and highly effective treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders using tracheostomy, mechanical ventilation, nasal continuous positive airway pressure therapy(nCPAP), intercurrent oxygen therapy or other interventions can reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular dysfunction and the long-term mortality.
The present study concerns quantitative assessment of chloride extraction, repassivation and structural behavior of concrete. Concrete specimen ($160{\times}160{\times}1000mm$) was fabricated with 3 steel bar located in the middle with 20 mm of the cover depth, containing 5.0% of chloride to accelerate corrosion process, then to be subjected to electrochemical treatment. The current density accounted for $750mA/m^2$ at 2, 4 and 8 weeks. As a result, it was found that an increase in the duration of the treatment resulted in an increase in the chloride extraction, accounting for 64.7-83.7% for the specimen at 8 weeks treatment. It implies that a portion of bound chlorides would turn free to be removed, considering the binding capacity of cement about 50-60% to total ones. Even after the treatment, the corrosion was still active; the corrosion rate was $6.5mA/m^2$ and 330 mV vs. SCE in the potential. For structural behavior, the maximum load was increased by corrosion on the steel bars, which was subsequently lowered by the treatment, but still higher than for control.
At present, there are several problems related with sand mat which is used as a way to accelerate consolidation settlement, to act like an underground drainage layer and to increase trafficability simultaneously. First of all, the unbalance of the demand and supply of sand is one of the biggest problems, which causes not only price rise but also delay of the term of the total construction work. Secondly, the damage of ecosystem and scenery is triggered by thoughtless sand dredging or mining. So, the need that sand mat should be replaced with a new environmentally friendly material has been increased. Fiber mat may be one of the proper materials that suits the need. Therefore, we intended to compare the drainage properties of sand mat with those of fiber mat by experimental model tests. On the basis of the test results, fiber mat took shorter period of consolidation than sand mat and the amount of settlement in the farmer showed a little bit bigger than in the latter. As a conclusion, the substitutability of sand mat with fiber mat could be placed highly in view of drainage efficiency. Furthermore, when fiber mat is used, it has an advantage that spoiled soil of the construction site or nearby site can be used for the purpose of increasing trafficability in addition to a role of drainage layer.

"To be, or not to be?" This question is not only Hamlet's agony but also the dilemma of mitochondria in a cancer cell. Cancer cells have a high glycolysis rate even in the presence of oxygen. This feature of cancer cells is known as the Warburg effect, named for the first scientist to observe it, Otto Warburg, who assumed that because of mitochondrial malfunction, cancer cells had to depend on anaerobic glycolysis to generate ATP. It was demonstrated, however, that cancer cells with intact mitochondria also showed evidence of the Warburg effect. Thus, an alternative explanation was proposed: the Warburg effect helps cancer cells harness additional ATP to meet the high energy demand required for their extraordinary growth while providing a basic building block of metabolites for their proliferation. A third view suggests that the Warburg effect is a defense mechanism, protecting cancer cells from the higher than usual oxidative environment in which they survive. Interestingly, the latter view does not conflict with the high-energy production view, as increased glucose metabolism enables cancer cells to produce larger amounts of both antioxidants to fight oxidative stress and ATP and metabolites for growth. The combination of these two different hypotheses may explain the Warburg effect, but critical questions at the mechanistic level remain to be explored. Cancer shows complex and multi-faceted behaviors. Previously, there has been no overall plan or systematic approach to integrate and interpret the complex signaling in cancer cells. A new paradigm of collaboration and a well-designed systemic approach will supply answers to fill the gaps in current cancer knowledge and will accelerate the discovery of the connections behind the Warburg mystery. An integrated understanding of cancer complexity and tumorigenesis is necessary to expand the frontiers of cancer cell biology.

Histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) feature is widely used in vision-based pedestrian detection. The interpolation is the most important technique in HOG feature calculation to provide high detection rate. In interpolation technique of HOG feature calculation, two nearest orientation bins to gradient orientation for each pixel and the corresponding weights are required. In this paper, therefore, an efficient gradient orientation bin and weight calculation circuit for HOG feature is proposed. In the proposed circuit, pre-calculated values are defined in tables to avoid the operations of tangent function and division, and the size of tables is minimized by utilizing the characteristics of tangent function and weights for each gradient orientation. Pipeline architecture is adopted to the proposed circuit to accelerate the processing speed, and orientation bins and the corresponding weights for each pixel are calculated in two clock cycles by applying efficient coarse and fine search schemes. Since the proposed circuit calculates gradient orientation for each pixel with the interval of $1^{\circ}$ and determines both orientation bins and weights required in interpolation technique, it can be utilized in HOG feature calculation to support interpolation technique to provide high detection rate.
Since there are many variables such as various poses, illuminations and occlusions in a face detection problem, a high performance detection system is required. Although CNN is excellent in image classification, CNN operatioin requires high-performance hardware resources. But low cost low power environments are essential for small and mobile systems. So in this paper, the CPU-FPGA integrated system is designed based on 3-stage cascade CNN architecture using small size FPGA. Adaptive Region of Interest (ROI) is applied to reduce the number of CNN operations using face information of the previous frame. We use a Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) to accelerate the CNN computations. The accelerator reads multiple featuremap at once on the FPGA and performs a Multiply-Accumulate (MAC) operation in parallel for convolution operation. The system is implemented on Altera Cyclone V FPGA in which ARM Cortex A-9 and on-chip SRAM are embedded. The system runs at 30FPS with HD resolution input images. The CPU-FPGA integrated system showed 8.5 times of the power efficiency compared to systems using CPU only.

The precipitation of calcium phosphate on implant surface has been known to accelerate osseointegration and to enhance osseous adaptation. The present study was performed to examine whether the precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy could be affected by the immersion in NaOH solution and heat treatment. Ti-6Al-4V alloy plates of $15{\times}3.5{\times}1mm$ in dimension were polished sequentially from #240 to #2,000 emery paper and one surface of each specimen was additionally polished with $0.1{\mu}m$ alumina paste. Polished specimens were soaked in various concentrations of NaOH solution(0.1, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, 7.0, 10.0 M) at $60^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours for alkali treatment, and 5.0 M NaOH treated specimens were heated for 1 hour at each temperature of 400, 500, 600, 700, $800^{\circ}C$. After the alkali and heat treatments, specimens were soaked in the Hank's solution with pH 7.4 at $36.5^{\circ}C$ for 30days.The surface ingredient change of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was evaluated by thin-film X-ray diffractometer(TF-XRD) and the surface microstructure was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM), and the elements of surface were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The results were obtained as follows ; 1. The precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy was accelerated by the immersion in NaOH solution and heat treatment. 2. In Alkali treatment for the precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy, the optimal concentration of NaOH solution was 5.0 M. 3. In heat treatment after alkali treatment in 5.0 M NaOH solution, the crystal formation on alloy surface was enhanced by increasing temperature. In heat treated alloys at $600^{\circ}C$, latticed structure and prominences of calcium phosphate layer were most dense. On heat treated alloy surface at the higher temperature(${\geq}700^{\circ}C$), main crystal form was titanium oxide rather than apatite. The above results suggested that the precipitation of calcium phosphate on the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloy could be induced by alkali treatment in 5.0 M-NaOH solution and by heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$.

This paper proposes a method to accelerate the evolution speed of individuals through hybrid reproduction of monogenesis and gamogenesis. Monogenesis as a reproduction method that bacteria or monad without sexual distinction divide into two individuals has an advantage for local search and gamogenesis as a reproduction method that individuals with sexual distinction mate and breed the offsprings has an advantages for keeping the diversity of individuals. These properties can be properly used for improvement of evolution speed of individuals in genetic algorithms. In this paper, we made relatively good individuals among selected parents to do monogenesis for local search and forced relatively bad individuals among selected parents to do gamogenesis for global search by increasing the diversity of chromosomes. The mutation probability for monogenesis was set to a lower value than that of original genetic algorithm for local search and the mutation probability for gamogenesis was set to a higher value than that of original genetic algorithm for global search. Experimental results with four function optimization problems showed that the performances of three functions were very good, but the performances of fourth function with distributed global optima were not good. This was because distributed global optima prevented individuals from steady evolution.

Bacillus subtilis JM3 protease from naturally fermented anchovy sauce was partially purified in 40-60% ammonium sulfate fraction. To accelerate fermentation of anchovy sauce, 2 and 4% crude B. subtilis JM3 proteases were added to 6 month-ripened anchovy sauce, and their hydrolysis degrees and amino-nitrogen contents were investigated at different storage times. Low molecular weight (LMW) peptide was purified by ultrafiltration ana gel permeation chromatography from anchovy sauce manufactured with B, subtilis JM3 protease. Anchovy sauces with 2 and 4% proteases increased hydrolysis rate by 27 and 32%, respectively. Amino-nitrogen contents of anchovy sauces fermented with 2 and 4% proteases were twofold higher than that of control. Control showed five peptide peaks on Bio-Rad P2 gel permeation chromatography spectrum, whereas anchovy sauces with 2 and 4% B. subtilis JM3 proteases showed six and seven peaks, respectively. ACE inhibitory activity was highest in peak 6 (43.75%) of anchovy sauce with 2% protease, followed by peak 5 (34.82%) of control. DPPH radical-scavenging effect was higher than 50% in all samples. Cytotoxicity was highest in peak 3 (44.12%) of control, fellowed by peak 5 (42.04%) of anchovy sauce with 4% protease.
