  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate influencing factors in self-efficacy among college students. Methods: The sample consisted of 553 college students in C & K cities. Self-report questionnaires were used to measure the variables. In data analysis, SPSS WIN 20.0 program was utilized for descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and regression analysis. Results: The mean score for Self-Efficacy was 66.62. Self-Efficacy was significantly different according to gender(t=2.076, p=.038), grade(F=11.077, p<.001), religion(F=4.666, p=.003), major(F=19.598, p<.001), economic status(F=6.570, p<.001), perceived health status(F=6.168, p<.001), and self-rated knowledge about health(F=12.936, p<.001). Multivariate analysis showed that major, self-rated knowledge about health, economic status, and perceived health status were significant predictors of self-efficacy and could explain 15.9% of total variability in this model. Conclusion: This study suggests that perceived health status and self-rated knowledge about health are significant factors in self-efficacy among college students. Therefore, the strategies of nursing intervention which improve these variables must be developed for college students.

Method: The subjects of this study were 158 part-time college students in Korea. Data were collected by using a self-reported questionnaire on-line. Analysis of data included descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and Cronbach's $\alpha$. Result: Statistically significant differences were evident in stress according to age, spouse, job, and income. Statistically significant differences were evident in perceived health status according to gender and job. Statistically significant differences were evident in Yangsaeng according to age, job, and income. Yangsaeng positively related to perceived health status and negatively related to stress. Conclusion: The Yangsaeng oriental health care regimen could lower stress levels and maintain a good health perception. Therefore, Yangsaeng could be recommended as a means of health promotion in Korean part-time college students.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationship of health status, aging anxiety, social networking, generativity, and happiness and to investigate the main factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults. Methods: The study collected data from a total of 153 middle-aged men and women aged 50 to 64 years old from a consumer panel of Macromill-Embrain, the biggest online survey provider in Korea. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. Results: The subjects' happiness mean score was 16.17±9.29. Statistically significant differences in happiness were found according to education (F=4.38, p=.014), economic status (t=5.13, p<.001), and religion (t=2.18, p=.031). Happiness was correlated significantly with health status (r=.41, p<.001), aging anxiety (r=-.62, p<.001), family support (r=.43, p<.001), friend support (r=.36, p<.001) and generativity (r=.63, p<.001). The factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults were generativity (𝛽=.37, p<.001), aging anxiety (𝛽=-.35, p<.001), family support (𝛽=.20, p<.001), and economic status (𝛽=.13, p=.033). The explanatory power of the model was 58.0%. Conclusion: This study will be used as basic data when developing a nursing intervention program for successful aging by identifying factors that affect the happiness of late middle-aged adults.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the educational landscape for students across the globe, leading to a shift towards long-term online learning. This study aims to examine the changes in the health status of college and university students before and after the transition to online classes. We conducted a survey questionnaire among 200 students enrolled at K University in Gangwon-do, including participants from both the Department of Visual Optics and the Department of Physical Therapy. The survey employed a 5-point Likert scale to evaluate a range of health-related factors, including physical and mental well-being, alterations in lifestyle, and academic performance. Both male and female students experienced a decline in physical strength and exercise during the online class period, while mental health and overall happiness showed improvement, particularly among female students. Notable shifts in lifestyle emerged, including an increased usage of electronic devices and enhanced familial connections. The study also shed light on intriguing trends related to academic accomplishments and adherence to official quarantine guidelines. In sum, the findings of this study offer valuable foundational information for the maintenance of students' well-being during online learning, as well as the development of effective strategies for online education in future academic settings.

  • The study set out to identify the number of types of parental attitude profiles and their characteristics, as perceived by adolescents. The study also examined whether predictor variables (parent life satisfaction and self-esteem) influence parenting attitude profiles and whether these profiles, in turn, influence adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The sample consisted of data on 2,590 adolescents and their parents from the 2018 Korean Children and Youths Panel Survey (KCYPS). The adolescents were in the first grade of middle school. Using Mplus, the author applied latent profile analysis to identify the parenting attitude profiles and predictor and outcome variables associated with these profiles. Three profiles were identified based on major features: (1) coercion-inconsistency (8.3%), (2) general (47.3%), and (3) warmth-autonomy support (44.4%). Parent life satisfaction and self-esteem predicted the classification of the profiles. Also, the parental profiles identified the level of adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The findings have important implications for family policies and practices given the significance of parent psychological status, particularly life satisfaction and self-esteem, on their adolescent children's academic engagement and academic helplessness.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between health status, health-promoting behavior, self-esteem and suicidal ideation among the elderly. Method: Subjects consisted of 115 elderly persons. Data were collected from January to March 2013, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis. Results: The mean scores for health status ($2.41{\pm}.68$), health-promoting behavior ($2.38{\pm}.43$), and self-esteem ($2.87{\pm}.69$) among the elderly fell in the average range, whereas scores for suicidal ideation ($.48{\pm}.36$) among the elderly fell in the below average range. Health status differed significantly according to age, educational level and economic status. Health-promoting behavior did not differ significantly based on these general characteristics. Self-esteem differed significantly according to age, job, and number of people living in the household. Suicidal ideation differed significantly based on age, educational level, and economic status. Significant correlations were found between health status, health-promoting behavior, self-esteem, and suicidal ideation. Conclusion: These findings indicate that perceived health status, health-promoting behavior, and self-esteem may be factors that need to be considered in order to decrease the prevalence of suicidal ideation among the elderly. These results can be used to develop a suicide prevention program for the elderly.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the academic librarians' perception of the current status and establishment of the development plans of domestic university libraries to suggest ways to increase usefulness of development plans. And this study sought ways to establish the academic library development plan that reflected the key components of the development plan. To this end, a survey was conducted on academic library librarians, and in-depth interviews were conducted with the persons in charge of the academic library development plan to supplement the limitations of survey. The results are as follows. First, the establishment of academic library development plans tend to be formal and passive, and has limitation in eliciting cooperation between external organizations and academic libraries. Second, most academic libraries do not disclose their development plans on their websites. Third, the awareness of the leaders of the academic library organization needs to be preceded, and a task force needs to be formed to establish development plan. As a result of the study, it is suggested that 'active changes in the perceptions and operation method within academic libraries', 'external disclosure of development plans and strengthening cooperation', and 'strengthening the initiative and role of librarians' are needed as improvement measures.
