  • Remote sensing allows automatic and continual spatial data acquisition. However, it is powerless to accumulate spatial data from the past. On the other hand, social and human scientists have already created rich academic descriptions of the past with fragmentary images, but without accurate geo-references. Such a legacy of information will eventually become useless, regardless of its importance or the researcher's passion. There is thus an urgent need to help assemble the lifetime research results of social scientists, so that future generations can easily access them.

  • This study analyzes the factors on the determinants of research productivity. In addition, this study uncovers the relationships between research productivity and various explanatory variables, and between explanatory variables. As for research productivity, 3 indices were used such as the number of papers, patents, and a combination of them. The data is the 3-year average from 2010-2012 by 1,383 researchers from 6 disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, mechanical engineering, electricity and electronics, and chemical engineering, reported to the National Research Foundation of Korea. Personal factors such as sex, age, academic rank and location of affiliation show the group difference for productivity. In addition, most resource factors such as the number of graduate students and research funds showed the same result with personal factors. As for the determinants, master and doctoral students and government funds are the most powerful factors for research productivity, but industry funds for patent and overall productivity.

  • 'The Library and Information Science' originated from the 'Library Science'. A school of academic reputation of the West is calling nm of studies by the name of 'Library, Archives, and Information Science' and studying materials, knowledge and information of the library, archives, and information centers. I think that many of the researcher neglect basic studies of the library and information science. Therefore, I'd like to call attention to the fact.

  • This study examines unique manifestations of intergenerational conflict related to the acculturation process of immigrant families. No scale that measured the acculturation aspect of intergenerational conflict exsited. Thus, a new scale was developed to investigate this unique aspect among Korean American adolescents. The study design was cross-sectional, and employed a convenience sampling method. The participants were Korean American adolescents of junior and senior high school age, 14 to18 years old. The study was conducted at eleven Korean churches and one hakwon (private out-of-school studies .institute) in Fairfax County, Virginia. Korean American adolescents expressed that the issues related to education, such as academic pressures and high expectations, caused intergenerational conflict most frequently. Unlike findings from previous studies, the participants indicated that language differences between parents and children rarely caused intergenerational conflict. Contrary to previous findings, none of the characteristics variables, such as age, gender, length of residency and language preference, were significantly correlated with this unique conflict. This study provides a rare opportunity to enhance our understanding on how Korean American adolescents interact with their immigrant parents.

  • There is a strong correlation between library resources and research productivity, as measured by publications and researcher honors. Therefore, first-class information resources of the academic and research libraries are essential to a productive research infrastructure in Korea. The principal aim of this paper is to develop a structure and framework of KORLIN (Korean Research Library Network) for providing seamless access to the analogue and digital information resources of university and research libraries from workstations of researchers.

The Department for Children, Schools, and Families, in cooperations with other central government departments and professional organizations, are developing and implementing the strategy. The purpose of the strategy is to improve play opportunities for all children and young people in England by raising the value and status of play in every community. This study examines the strategy by focusing on firstly, the purpose, vision, and steps to be undertaken; secondly, the methods used and the participating organizations; and thirdly, the legal, social, and academic basis upon which the strategy is founded. By way of conclusion, the researcher argues that we need to consider and learn from the case of the UK to come up with desirable polices for children's education and well-being.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of aerobic exercise on health status with essential hypertension. Method: A non-equivalent control group design was used. For the experimental group, aerobic exercise was given by researcher at one health center in Daegu. Test for hypothesis was done by $X^2$-test t-test, paired t-test, and unpaired t-test. Result: There were significant differences in systolic, diastolic, and MAP between two groups. There were significant differences in body weight, BMI, and body composition between two groups. Hypothesis 3 was partially supported that the score of health status and physical function of experimental group were significantly higher than that of control group. Conclusion: Findings indicated that this study would contribute to application of aerobic exercise as nursing intervention for the people with high blood pressure.

Method: This study was designed one group pretest-posttest design. Tai Chi exercise was conducted by researcher and carried out for sixty minutes per one time and two times a week for six weeks. The subjects of this study consisted of 23 low back patients. Using the SPSS win 10.0 program was used for data analysis, which included frequency, percentage and paired t-test. Result: Tai Chi exercise decreased pain, improved balance and gait, increased physical function(back muscle strength, leg muscle strength and flexibility). Conclusion: The results suggested Tai Chi exercise can be effective nursing intervention to improve pain, balance, gait and physical function of patients with low back pain.
