This study aimed at analyzing the influence factors of the academic library on college's education and research performances. The researched subject was 144 colleges targeted for information disclosure by Center for Higher Education Information Disclosure. The conclusion of the present study is as follows. First, the educational performance in college showed the positive relation with 'library environment' variables except 'seating capacity per capita'. Second, the educational performance in college was positively related to the variable of 'library outcome' and particularly, it was directly influenced by circulation, visit, and interlibrary loan. Third, the research performance in college showed a positive correlation with 'library environment' variables except facility scale of library. Fourth, the research performance in college showed a positive relation with the variable of 'library outcome' and research performance excluding 'publication in domestic journals per capita' was positively influenced by 'document delivery services usage per capita' and 'commercial DB usage per capita' in common.

This study analyzes circulation patterns of books with checkout transaction count by 11 subject areas, 5 positions, and 5 divisions with a Use Factor developed by Bonn in an Academic Library. 20% of the loan books occupies more than half of circulation and these are regarded as core collection. It proposes a 'Loan books 20/50 rule' that 20% core collection accounts for 50% of its circulation. It analyzes the proportion of core collection from the aspect of each subject area with a use factor, monthly change trend and loan period. It also defines 'book usage' considering checkout frequency of each title and loan period. Circulation patterns of core collection are compared and analyzed in terms of both checkout frequency and book usage. Core collection occupies about more than half of both total checkout transactions and total book usages and they all show a Power Law distribution.

The purpose of this study is to examine the usage and user behaviors of undergraduate students and to suggest the ways to promote the usage of e-journals. The methods used in this study are survey questionaires and interviews who are taking a general education course or Library and Information Science courses offered in D University. The study collected the data regarding usage, user behaviors, service quality, user instructions and advertisement of e-journals. In addition, the study analyzed the library website and interviewed librarians. Based on the findings, the study suggested the ways to improve the level of e-journal usage.

This study analytically examined library anxiety that various users felt when they use public libraries, by measuring it on K-LAS. The findings show that the library anxiety is varied depending on users' age, gender, academic careers, usage purposes, frequency of use and size of libraries. It suggested the guidance and education about the use of libraries, environmental improvement based on the remodeling of libraries, wearing of nameplates written in big characters for identifying librarians and the education for users' understanding and the provision of device and equipment manuals according the levels of users' experiences, as measures for overcoming the library anxiety, enhancing usage satisfaction and activating usage.

The study examined information retrieval tools as predictors for information resources utilization, four research questions, and four hypotheses were made to guide the study. A descriptive survey was adopted for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select sample of 393 from a population of 557 academic staff registered in the University of Port Harcourt library. The questionnaire was adopted as a data collection instrument titled Information retrieval as predictors for information resources utilization (IRPIRUQ). Data were analyzed using both simple and multiple regression while analysis of variance (ANOVA) associate with regression was used for testing the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The study revealed that information resources are under utilized as the OPAC and Online Databases are not easily accessed. Further findings showed that the academic staff made use of internet search engines more often than the OPAC and online databases. It was recommended among others that a new library software be installed in place of KOHA for wider connectivity and adequate distribution of software that will aid usage of the online databases and OPAC.

Evaluation of an academic library is a key to its success. Library and Information Policy Bureau of the President of the Republic of Korea conducted a trial evaluation on academic libraries with a university evaluation index developed by KERIS in 2005. The committee decided to review its feasibility based on the feedbacks from the academic libraries after the trial. This study aims to address the indexing issues appeared during the trial and suggest a new evaluation index tailored to academic libraries. First, the evaluation field is condensed from 7 to 6 as "financing" and "infrastructure" are integrated into "budget and infrastructure." Secondly, both "user charter" and "planning" are removed from the "library management" field category. and "library self-assessment" is added instead. In "information resource" field, "non-books and etc." is added. Third, evaluation categories for "budget and infrastructure" field are altered to budget-related items and library equipment. Forth, "collection turnover rate" category is incorporated into "collection usage" in "information usage" field, and "library use rate" in "information service" field is moved to "information resource" field and renamed as "use rate."

The purpose of the study is to understand the present state of practical use of electronic journal usage statistics at the academic libraries. For this purpose the study performed an online questionnaire survey to the 63 academic libraries located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Based on the 48 responses, the study found out that the rate of satisfaction with the present usage data was low. Especially the rate of unsatisfaction with the absence of comparable data and the average usage rate of all the subscribing libraries appeared high. The study also examined 5 types of statistics for the evaluation of electronic journal.

This study suggests a scheme to activate an e-book service through the analysis on the cause of low usage of the services in academic libraries. The data analysis of e-book circulation records was performed for the purpose of preparing the scheme. Frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were used for basic data analysis. Also, t-test, ANOVA, non-parametric chi-square, and correlation analysis were used to examine whether there are any significant differences between treatment groups divided by gender and major.

There is a close relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement in international standards, working sections and the data items similarity in academic libraries. However, this co-relationship between statistics and measuring performance in the Korean academic library is not related to each other in terms of designing or usage. In order to prove this, the co-relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement has been researched based on applications of international standards and data. The international result shows 45% of overlapping in statistical and measuring performance indicators. However, there is only 14 to 26% of the co-relationship in existing statistics and performance measurement in Korea. A considerable improvement of the co-relationship between the indicators has newly been found. Therefore, in developing online system of academic library statistics, it is essential to provideinclusive information between indications of statistics and performance measurements.

At present we have access to a plethora of university journals. The purpose of this study is to estimate the use of these university Journals in research fields by focussing on the level of usage in each discipline in addition to the level of usage of each university journal in linguistics. The results indicate the level of academic use of each Journal in lingustics as well as of usage levels between disciplines. From these results, the follow-up measure is requested for differentiation and specialization of university journals.
