An evolutionary approach for structural reliability

  • Assessment of failure probability, especially for a complex structure, requires a considerable number of calls to the numerical model. Reliability methods have been developed to decrease the computational time. In this approach, the original numerical model is replaced by a surrogate model which is usually explicit and much faster to evaluate. The current paper proposed an efficient reliability method based on Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and multi-gene genetic programming (MGGP) as a robust variant of genetic programming (GP). GP has been applied in different fields; however, its application to structural reliability has not been tested. The current study investigated the performance of MGGP as a surrogate model in structural reliability problems and compares it with other surrogate models. An adaptive Metropolis algorithm is utilized to obtain the training data with which to build the MGGP model. The failure probability is estimated by combining MCS and MGGP. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method were investigated with the help of five numerical examples.

  • Recent shortening of hospitalization has partly led to the transition of health care services from hospitals to communities in cardiovascular (CVD) care. Home healthcare nursing is an alternative modality of care for chronically ill CVD patients. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has been redefined as a "secondary prevention center", consisting of: patient assessment; nutritional counseling; blood pressure and diabetes management; tobacco cessation; psychosocial management; and physical activity counseling. Improvement in health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is a major goal of the CR that integrates physical, psychological and social dimensions of care. The review of evidence on effects of CR on HRQOL may allow home healthcare nurses to provide better comprehensive care for CVD patients. There is evidence on beneficial effects of CR on HRQOL in patients with myocardial infarction (MI) as well as patients with chronic heart failure. Specifically, home-based CR, which is more cost-effective than hospital-based CR, has been reported to produce comparable improvements in HRQOL with hospital-based CR in MI patients. In conclusion, a newly-designed, home-based CR may be required to be applied to Korean home healthcare nursing system for improving HRQOL.

학술적 기업가의 벤처기업 창업활동 지원 모델 (The Role of Academic Entrepreneurs and the Venture Business Supporting Model)

  • 본 연구는 학술적 기업가의 역할을 중심으로 학술적 기업가의 벤치기업 창업활동을 지원하기 위한 산 학 관 협력모델의 구성을 탐색하였다. 벤처기업 창업 인프라 제공 주체는 정부, 대학, 벤처캐피탈기관 등이 대표적이며, 그 가운데 대학, 특히 학술적 기업가들의 역할이 가장 중요하다. 이와 같은 학술적 기업가의 성공적 창업은 기초환경요인의 유효성 여부에 크게 좌우된다. 대학은 학술적 기업가들의 창업동기와 제약 요인을 바탕으로 정책, 절차, 그리고 보조금 지원 등 공식적 지원프로그램을 통해 경제개발에 기여할 수 있는 연구를 수행하도록 지원할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 기술이전시스템 추측, 협동 교육시스템 도입, 벤처기업 창업보육시스템 구축, 그리고 학술적 기업가 활동 지원문화 조성프로그램 등을 마련해야한다. 이에 본 연구는 학술적 기업가의 창업동기를 바탕으로 창업활동을 하나의 과정으로 간주하고 창업지원 주체별 역할에 근거하여 학술적 기업가의 창업활동을 지원하기 위한 산 학 관 협력 모델을 탐색하였다.

시뮬레이션 기반 간호교육이 간호학생의 지식과 임상수행능력에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of a Simulation-Based Education on the Knowledge and Clinical Competence for Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effect of simulation-based education relevant to the care of patients with acute renal failure (ARF) for third-year nursing students. Methods: This study was a non-equivalent control pre-posttest design. Based on the clinical situation scenarios pertaining to patients with ARF, a simulation-based learning module was developed using Human Patient Simulator version 6 (HPS6) manufactured by Medical Education Technologies Inc. The pretest was conducted so as to evaluate the difference in prior knowledge and clinical competence between two groups. The control group consisted of 91 students during the 2010 academic year and the experimental group consisted of 94 students during the 2011 academic year. Data were analysed using SPSS/win 10.1. Results: In the experimental group, knowledge related to care for ARF patients was not significantly increased; however, clinical competence improved significantly for the experimental group. Conclusion: In conclusion, the simulation-based education program was effective in contributing towards the development of clinical competence. Increased development of clinical competence is vital for today's clinical environment where nursing professionals need the necessary knowledge, thinking, and performance skills to meet the needs of the hospital and their patients.

어랑분포의 형상모수 변화에 따른 소프트웨어 개발 비용모형에 관한 비교 연구 (The Comparative Software Development Cost Model Considering the Change in the Shape Parameter of the Erlang Distribution)

  • 소프트웨어 개발과정에서 소프트웨어 신뢰성은 매우 중요한 문제 중에 하나이다. 소프트웨어 고장현상을 분석하기 위하여 비동질적인 포아송과정에서 고장 발생 추이를 의미하는 위험함수가 고장시간에 독립적으로 일정하거나, 종속적인 경우, 즉 비-증가 또는, 비-감소하는 속성을 가질 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 제품 테스팅 과정에서 고장 수명분포로서 어랑분포의 다양한 형상모수를 고려한 소프트웨어 개발 비용 분석에 대하여 연구되었다. 소프트웨어 고장현상을 분석하기 위하여 모수추정은 최우추정법이 사용되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 어랑분포의 형상모수를 고려한 소프트웨어 개발비용모형 분석을 위하여 소프트웨어 고장간격 시간자료를 이용하여 비교 및 평가하였다. 그 결과 형상모수에 따른 비용곡선을 비교 하였을 때 형상모형이 작을수록 비용이 많고 소프트웨어 최적 방출시간이 지연 됨을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구를 통하여 소프트웨어 개발자들에게 소프트웨어 형상모수에 따른 개발 비용을 탐색하는데, 기본적으로 도움을 줄 수 있는 사전정보의 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

마음챙김 관점에서 본 대학 정보화 프로젝트 (Implementing Academic Information Systems from a Mindfulness Perspective)

  • 대학은 지속가능성을 확보하기 위해 대학 정보화에 꾸준히 투자하고 있고, 이러한 노력 덕분에 학생들이나 교직원들은 언제 어디서나 대학의 정보시스템에 접속하여 효율적으로 업무를 처리할 수 있게 되었다. 최근 대학은 정보기술 수요 환경의 변화에 대응하여 다양한 서비스를 제공하기 위해 대학 행정 정보화 프로젝트에서 나서고 있다. 그 중 일부 대학은 계획한 성과를 달성하였지만, 새롭게 개발원 시스템의 이용을 중단하여야 할 것인가를 고민주중인 대학도 있다. 대학 정보화는 어느 정도의 실패 요인을 안고 출발하기 마련이다. 예측하지 못한 사태로 인해 난관에 봉착하기도 하고, 구성원물의 지혜를 모아 문제를 슬기롭게 극복하기도 한다. 마음챙김 이론은 이러한 시스템 개발 및 운영 과정을 심도있게 살펴볼 수 있는 관점을 제공한다. 본 연구는 대학 행정 정보시스템 개발 프로젝트 사례를 마음챙김 관점에서 분석하고, 그 파급효과와 시사점 등을 정리하였다.

창의수업활동이 대학생의 학업동기 및 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향: NFTM-TRIZ 창의 교육 모형을 기반으로 (Effects of Creativity Instruction Activities on Academic Motivation and Career Maturity of University Students : Based on NFTM-TRIZ Creativity Education Model)

  • 본 연구는 창의수업활동이 대학생의 학업동기 및 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향 및 변인들 간의 관계를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 한 학기 동안 NFTM-TRIZ 창의 교육 모형을 기반으로 한 창의 교양 수업을 수강한 대학교 1, 2, 3, 4학년 남 녀 학생들 73명이었다. 측정도구는 학업동기 검사의 자기효능감 척도와 실패내성 척도, 진로성숙도 검사의 태도척도를 활용하여 15주 수업 전후에 검사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석 프로그램은 SPSS 21.0을, 분석 방법은 백분율, t-검증, 피어슨의 적률상관계수를 사용하였다. 분석결과를 정리하여 제시하면 첫째, 창의수업활동은 대학생들의 학업동기와 진로성숙도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 특히, 자기조절 효능감과 과제선호수준, 진로 결정성과 타협성 등에서 유의미한 효과(p<.01)가 있었다. 둘째, 학업동기와 진로성숙도 두 변인 사이에는 유의한 정적 상관(p<.05)이 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 선행연구와의 관련성 및 시사점, 제한점 등을 논의하였다.

아버지와 어머니의 헬리콥터 부모역할이 고등학생의 진로준비 행동에 미치는 영향: 학업성패귀인과 진로결정자기효능감의 순차적 매개효과 (The Effect of Paternal and Maternal Helicopter Parenting on the Career Preparation Behavior of High-School Students: Sequential Mediation Effects of Academic Achievement Attribution and Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy)

  • This study examined the sequential mediation effects of academic achievement attribution and career decision-making self-efficacy on the effect of paternal and maternal helicopter parenting on high-school students' career preparation behavior. A total of 285 (119 male and 166 female) Korean high-school students in the second grade participated in the study. Research variables were measured using the Career Preparation Behavior Scale (Kim, 1997), Helicopter Parenting Scale (LeMoyne & Buchanan, 2011), Attribution Questionnaire (Weiner, 1979), and Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (Betz et al., 1996). To examine the sequential mediating effect, data analysis was performed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS MACRO (v4.2) Model 6. The results revealed no correlations between helicopter parenting and academic failure attribution. However, higher paternal and maternal helicopter parenting were found to indirectly reduce high-school students' career preparation behavior through lower internal academic success attribution (effort and ability) and higher external academic success attribution (task difficulty and luck), which reduced career decision-making self-efficacy. These findings can be employed to develop more effective intervention programs comprising career guidance for adolescents, which emphasizes the negative effect of helicopter parenting. This study expands the research field, as previous findings on helicopter parenting mostly focus on college students.

고등학생의 수학불안 및 공격성과 수학성취도와의 관계 연구 (A Study on the Relation between Mathematics Anxiety & Aggressiveness and Mathematics Proficiency of Highschool Students)

  • There has been a considerable number of studies on aggressive behaviors and violences, but it is hard to find one that gives us clear and satisfactory answers with transparent conclusions. Juvenile aggressiveness seems to be caused by unsatisfied desire in the problematic situations and emotional instability. The aim of this study is to find out how emotional instability - especially mathematics anxiety - is correlated with aggressiveness and how aggressiveness affects mathematics proficiency, and thus to help students improve their academic proficiency by finding out appropriate measures to take in case of aggressive behaviors of students. Main tasks of this study are as follows : 1. To find out any correlation between aggressiveness of the experimental students and their mathematics proficiency. 2. Is there any correlation between aggressiveness and mathematics anxiety\ulcorner 3. Is there any correlation between aggressiveness and academic proficiency\ulcorner The conclusion of this study is as follows : 1. There are some negative correlations between the degree of mathematics anxiety and mathematics proficiency. This is mainly because negative emotional state developed from one's uneasiness for fear of failure disturbs one's learning process and thus weakens the will for achieving the task. 2. While aggressiveness doesn't show any significant correlations with academic proficiency, it does have some with mathematics anxiety.

Assessment of Academic Utilization of Online Information Resources by Undergraduate Students in University of Nigeria, Nsukka

  • The aim of this paper was to determine the utilization of online information resources by undergraduate students in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It was undertaken specifically with the objectives of identifying the online information resources used; academic purposes for their use, extent, problems and strategies for improving the academic use of the resources by undergraduate students. Descriptive survey was used as the research design. The population of this study comprises of all 25,657 regular registered undergraduate students in University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The sample for this study comprises 2500 students which is 10% of the population. The results of the study shows that most of the online information resources are not used by the undergraduate students. Just a few of them are highly used. Some of the academic purposes for the use of the resources include to do course assignment and project works and to stay up-to-date on social events. The major problems responsible for the low utilisation of the resources include incessant power failure, limited available computers in the university library, and server's low bandwidth. Based on the findings, maintenance of uninterrupted power supply, provision of enough computers in the library; constant upgrade of server's bandwidth and many more were recommended as the strategies for improving the use of online information resources by undergraduate students in UNN. The implication of this study lies in the fact that solutions to the problems raised would be helpful to the university management, librarians and students in ensuring maximum and adequate provision and effective utilisation of online information a resources in the library.
