  • The purpose of this study was to explore the academic achievements, learning attitudes, and career compromising processes for successful undergraduate students in the College of Engineering. To achieve this goal, research was conducted to analyze whether there was a strong major-career connection among Engineering students of Seoul National University. Afterwards, differences in levels of academic achievement, learning attitude, and academic aspiration were analyzed between students who had achieved a major-career match and students who had not. As a result, it was found that the level of major-career connection was highly correlated to the level of academic achievement; furthermore, learning attitudes were strongly related to the level of motivation towards a high academic achievement, and influenced future learning attitudes as well. These findings suggest that further academic support, career guidance, and major switching policies are needed for undergraduate students in Colleges of Engineering.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a teacher's leadership (initiating and consideration), class climate, and friendship on academic attitudes. In order to accomplish this, 1,533 elementary school students were recruited. Descriptive statistics and path analysis were employed to examine relationships. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, there were positive correlations between academic attitudes and the teacher's leadership, class climate, and friendship. Second, results of path analysis illustrated that a teacher's leadership consideration indicator had a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Furthermore, the teacher's leadership consideration indirectly affected academic attitudes through mediation of class climate and friendship. However, the teacher's leadership initiating indicator did not have a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitude. The indices of the best fit model for these variables were adequate (GFI, NFI, CFI > 0.90). This study shows that the teacher's leadership consideration is the significant predictor for elementary school students' class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Finally, the meaning and limitations of this research, and its implications on academic assistance and intervention, are discussed in detail.

Method: For the purpose of the study, the program was performed on 223 nursing students in Gyung-gi. An Aging Semantic Differential Scale was utilized to evaluate attitudes toward the elderly. The senior simulation equipment consisted of a special spacesuit, glasses, gloves, and sand bag. Before and after the experiment subjects filled out questionnaires. Result: The attitude score before the experiment was 4.13, which indicates a neutral attitude, Nursing students' attitudes toward the elderly related significantly to religion, living with grandparents, volunteer work for the elderly, and acquired knowledge. The Senior simulation enabled nursing students' attitudes to turn positive toward the elderly. Conclusion: Senior simulation can affect nursing students' attitude toward the elderly. There is a need to develop routine education programs to maintain the positive attitude.

  • This study explored the effects of self efficacy, classroom contextual characteristics and help-avoidance attitudes on academic help-seeking behavior. Participants were 210 4th grade students. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis through the SPSSWIN 12.0. Results showed that students' self efficacy, perception of teacher behavior and goal orientations were positively related to help-seeking behaviors. Help-avoidance attitudes were negatively related to help-seeking behaviors. Cognitive efficacy and social-emotional efficacy facilitated help-seeking behaviors. Help-seeking behaviors were influenced by teacher's supportive help and expectation. Mastery goal orientations and performance-approach goal orientations promoted help-seeking behaviors but performance-avoidance goal orientations impeded help-seeking behaviors. Autonomous intention attitudes expedited help-seeking behaviors but intention based on ability diminished help-seeking behaviors.

  • The study set out to identify the number of types of parental attitude profiles and their characteristics, as perceived by adolescents. The study also examined whether predictor variables (parent life satisfaction and self-esteem) influence parenting attitude profiles and whether these profiles, in turn, influence adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The sample consisted of data on 2,590 adolescents and their parents from the 2018 Korean Children and Youths Panel Survey (KCYPS). The adolescents were in the first grade of middle school. Using Mplus, the author applied latent profile analysis to identify the parenting attitude profiles and predictor and outcome variables associated with these profiles. Three profiles were identified based on major features: (1) coercion-inconsistency (8.3%), (2) general (47.3%), and (3) warmth-autonomy support (44.4%). Parent life satisfaction and self-esteem predicted the classification of the profiles. Also, the parental profiles identified the level of adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The findings have important implications for family policies and practices given the significance of parent psychological status, particularly life satisfaction and self-esteem, on their adolescent children's academic engagement and academic helplessness.

  • Purpose: This study was investigated the knowledge, attitudes, and educational needs of nursing students regarding the sexuality of elderly individuals. Methods: This was a descriptive study. Data were collected from April $1^{st}$ to $22^{nd}$, 2016. One hundred ninety-three nursing students in Daejeon city and Chungcheongnam-do were surveyed. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: Mean scores on the knowledge, attitudes, and educational needs measures were 15.74/29, 28.45/40, and 36.67/50 respectively. There were significantly differences in major variables according to needs for sexual education of the elderly. There were also significant differences in knowledge and educational needs depending on students' age and year in school. Higher levels of knowledge of sexuality were significantly correlated with more positive attitudes and higher educational needs. Positive attitudes were also correlated with higher educational needs. Conclusion: Nursing students showed a low level of knowledge and poor attitudes towards sexuality in the elderly. This suggests that there is a need for education on the sexuality of the elderly in the nursing curriculum. This education would guide nursing students to obtain correct knowledge and positive attitudes so that they would be able to provide effective and appropriate sexuality care for elderly patients.
