  • With the exploration of digital academic information, it is certainly required to develop more effective academic contents recommender system in order to accommodate increasing needs for accessing more personalized academic contents. Considering historical usage data, the academic content recommender system recommends personalized academic contents which corresponds with each user's preference. So, the academic content recommender system effectively increases not only the accessibility but also usability of digital academic contents. In this paper, we propose the new journal recommendation technique based on information of journal subscription and web usage logs in order to properly recommend more personalized academic contents. Our proposed recommendation method predicts user's preference with the institution similarity, the journal similarity and journal importance based on citation relationship data of references and finally compose institute-oriented recommendations. Also, we develop a recommender system prototype. Our developed recommender system efficiently collects usage logs from distributed web sites and processes collected data which are proper to be used in proposed recommender technique. We conduct compare performance analysis between existing recommender techniques. Through the performance analysis, we know that our proposed technique is superior to existing recommender methods.

  • This paper investigates the empirical implications. The research question of this study is to verify the influences of psychological and environmental factors toward performance satisfaction and durability of learning in E-Learning University. For empirical verification, a survey was conducted targeting 500 students in E-learning Universities. The results show that actional environment on academic satisfaction in learning is the most important factor followed by physical environment, internal motivation, and academic burnout. The effect of psychological factors on learning persistence was important in the order of academic vision, internal motivation, actional environment and physical environment. The effect of academic satisfaction on learning durability proved to be statistically significant. The results suggest that actional environment should be considered with top priority to increase the academic satisfaction. learning satisfaction, academic vision, and academic satisfaction to enhance students' intention to continue studies are important. Academic burnout has a negative effect on both academic satisfaction and learning persistence, suggesting that this aspect should be properly addresses. The effects of student background variables in E-learning were explored.

  • The study examined information retrieval tools as predictors for information resources utilization, four research questions, and four hypotheses were made to guide the study. A descriptive survey was adopted for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select sample of 393 from a population of 557 academic staff registered in the University of Port Harcourt library. The questionnaire was adopted as a data collection instrument titled Information retrieval as predictors for information resources utilization (IRPIRUQ). Data were analyzed using both simple and multiple regression while analysis of variance (ANOVA) associate with regression was used for testing the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The study revealed that information resources are under utilized as the OPAC and Online Databases are not easily accessed. Further findings showed that the academic staff made use of internet search engines more often than the OPAC and online databases. It was recommended among others that a new library software be installed in place of KOHA for wider connectivity and adequate distribution of software that will aid usage of the online databases and OPAC.

  • There are the national science and technology standard classification system used in Korea, the classification according to the standard classification system for educational organization units, and the Korean standard education classification by the National Statistical Office. It is not suitable for calculation or evaluation, and classification is still mixed depending on the purpose of use. Therefore, in this study, the current status of academic standard classification, issues related to the standard classification system such as research foundation associations and research institutes, and issues related to the academic standard classification through the analysis of existing prior research issues, etc. As a result of the research, first, it is necessary to maintain and strengthen the linkage of the academic classification system, such as maintaining the linkage between the relevant departmental classification systems and strengthening the linkage with the relevant classification system, as a result of analysis of major issues in the academic standard classification system, and the systematic improvement cycle of the revision process and management system and settings are required.

  • This study explores Facebook use in Vietnamese academic libraries by analysing libraries' posts on their Facebook pages and library users' interaction with those posts. A total of 260 posts on four academic libraries' Facebook pages were examined using the content analysis method. The findings reveal that Facebook was mainly used to encourage reading and to transmit announcements. Most of the academic libraries published one post a week. The photo was the most frequent media type of libraries' posts and gained a higher level of interaction than other posts. According to the research results, the user engagement was low, and the user interaction with libraries' posts generally was in the form of reaction. The findings can help better understand Facebook use in Vietnamese academic libraries and may assist libraries in creating a plan for using Facebook more effectively.

  • This study aims to suggest the ways to reinforce academic library's research support services for professors and researchers in Korea. For this purpose, this study collected the development plans of academic libraries in Korea, and analysed the plans for supporting research activities, and also analysed each library's homepage. And this research classified the research support services of academic libraries into eight types for further analysis. The types are 'subject guide', 'academic information literacy', 'research analysis service', 'research consulting', 'research ethics education', 'thesis writing guide', 'bibliography management program', 'interlibrary loan·original text copy'. As a result, it is shown that the most libraries emphasized 'custom-tailored user education' and marked it on development plan. As subsequent plans, libraries provided the action plans of 'expansion of scholarly DB instruction on each subject', 'expansion of custom-tailored research support services', 'construction of research support service system' one after another. This study suggests 'activation of subject guide service', 'expansion of academic information literacy programs for supporting research', 'introduction of research performance analysis services', and 'support for establishment of research ethics' as ways to strengthen academic libraries' research support services.
