  • Al is a active metal that owes its resistance to a thin, protective, barrier oxide surface layer, which is stable in air and neutral aqueous solution. Thus Al alloys are widely used in architectural trim. cold & hot-water storage vessels and piping. However Al and most of its alloy may corrode with some forms such as pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion and galvanic corrosion in the case of exposure to various industrial and marine atmosphere. Therefore a correct evaluation of corrosion resistance for their Al and Al alloys may be more important in a economical point of view. In this study. a relative evaluation of corrosion resistance for three kinds of Al alloys such as ALDC2, ALDC3, and ALDC8 series was carried out with electrochemical method. There is a tendency that corrosion potential is shifted to positive or negative direction by alloying components regardless of corrosion resistance. Moreover the data of corrosion properties obtained from cathodic Polarization curve, cyclic voltammogram and AC. DC impedance respectively showed a good correspondence each other against the corrosion resistance but variation of corrosion potential. passivity current density of anodic polarization curve and corrosion current density by Tafel extrapolation and Stern-Geary method didn't correspond with not only each other but also considerably the data of corrosion properties discussed above. Therefore it is suggested that an optimum electrochemical evaluation for corrosion resistance of Al alloy is to calculate the diffusion limiting current density of cathodic polarization curve, impedance of AC or DC and polarization resistance of cyclic voltammogram.

  • Ti-6Al-4V alloy have been used for dental implant because of its excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. However, the integration of such implant in bone was not in good condition to achieve improved osseointergraiton. For solving this problem, calcium phosphate (CaP) has been applied as coating materials on Ti alloy implants for hard tissue applications because its chemical similarity to the inorganic component of human bone, capability of conducting bone formation and strong affinity to the surrounding bone tissue. Various metallic elements are known to play an important role in the bone formation and also affect bone mineral characteristics. Especially, Zn is essential for the growth of the human and Zn coating has a major impact on the improvement of corrosion resistance. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a promising technology to produce porous and firmly adherent inorganic Zn containing TiO2(Zn-TiO2)coatings on Ti surface, and the a mount of Zn introduced in to the coatings can be optimized by altering the electrolyte composition. In this study, effect of Zn content on the corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy after plasma electrolytic oxidation were studied by SEM, EDS, XRD, AC impedance, and potentiodynamic polarization test. The potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance tests for corrosion behaviors were carried out in 0.9% NaCl solution at similar body temperature using a potentiostat with a scan rate of 1.67 mV/s and potential range from -1500 mV to +2000 mV. Also, AC impedance was performed at frequencies ranging from 10 MHz to 100 kHz for corrosion resistance.

  • In this report, we measured the impedance spectrum in TMR device, and the relaxation behavior of the real and imaginary impedance spectrum was analyzed by using the equilibrant circuit of tunneling capacitance ($C_T$) and tunneling resistance ($R_T$). The relaxation frequency was increased with AC voltage in both the parallel and antiparallel alignment of two magnetic layers. The $R_T$ with AC voltage showed the typical bias voltage dependence. However, the $C_T$ showed large value than the expected geometrical capacitance. The huge increase of $C_T$ was affecting as a limiting factor for the high speed operation of TMR devices. Thus, the supercapacitance of $C_T$ should be considered to design the high speed TMR devices.

  • The Langmuir adsorption isotherm at the $(Pt)/0.1M\;H_2SO_4$ electrolyte interface has been qualitatively analyzed using the ac impedance measurement and phase-shift method. The phase shift $(\phi)$ depends on both the cathode potential (E<0) and frequency (f) and is inversely proportional to the factional surface coverage $(\theta)$. At an intermediate frequency band (ca. $1\~100$ Hz), the phase-shift profile $(\phi\;vs.\;E)$ can be related to the fractional surface coverage $(\theta\;vs.\;E)$. The phase-shift profile $(\phi\;vs.\;E)$ can be used as an experimental method to estimate and analyze the Langmuir adsorption isotherm $(\theta\;vs.\;E)$. The equilibrium constant (K) and the standard free energy $({\Delta}G_{ads})$ of the adsorbed hydrogen atom $(H_{ads})\;and\;3\times10^{-4}$ and 20.1 kJ/mol, respectively.

A series of $Zn-TiO_2$ coatings are produced on Ti dental implant using PEO, with the substitution degree, respectively, at 0, 5, 10 and 20%. • A modified two-point impedance spectroscopy technique exploits the geometric constriction between an electrolyte and a cathode with an emphasis on semispherical-shaped electrolytes. The spatial limitation in the electrolyte/electrode interface leads to local amplification of the electrochemical reaction occurring in the corresponding electrolyte/electrode region. The modified impedance spectroscopy was applied to electrical monitoring of a YSZ ($Y_2O_3$-stabilized $ZrO_2$)/SSC ($Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3$) system. The resolved bulk and interfacial component was numerically analyzed in combination with an equivalent circuit model. The effectiveness of the "spreading resistance" concept is validated by analysis of the electrode polarization in the cathode materials of solid oxide fuel cells.

  • The harmonic impedance characteristic of a traction power supply system (TPSS) is necessary for taking actions to suppress the high-order harmonic resonances caused by AC electric locomotives. This paper proposes a controllable harmonic generating method (CHGM) for measuring the TPSS harmonic impedance by injecting harmonic disturbances of different frequencies and amplitudes into the TPSS. This method applies phase shifted pulse-width modulation (PSPWM) and ensures that the undesired sideband harmonics can be negligible while the desired harmonic is both controllable and adjustable. Multiple harmonics can be emitted at the same time. The implementation of the method is also presented. Simulations are carried out to validate the performance of the proposed method. Finally, experimental results on a 5 H-bridge converters platform verified the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

  • This paper analyzes impedance convergence characteristics and harmonics of electric locomotives operation and fault condition. To simulate the various fault and operation condition, AT feeding system and various locomotives are modeled using PSCAD/EMTDC. Analysis shows that impedance are converged into protection area in the case of short fault between catenary and rail or catenary and feeder line but in the case of disconnection fault, impedance is rater bigger so protective relay can't detect the fault. Therefore more analysis of overload and high impedance fault caused disconnection fault is needed.

  • We synthesized and investigated $(La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25})_{1-x}FeO_{3-\delta}$ perovskite oxides having different stoichiomety (x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) as cathode materials. SEM images and XRD patterns reveal that the synthesized powder has uniform size distribution and high degree of crystallinity. The electrochemical performances of the synthesized powders were investigated by AC impedance spectroscopy. Both the electric conductivity and the electrochemical performance showed the highest properties at the stoichiometry x = 0.02. Finally, we concluded that the variation of A-site deficiency results in the variation of the amount of oxygen vacancy and micro structure, which leads to the variation of electric conductivity and polarization resistance.
