Esthetic Implant Prostheses for Anterior Teeth (심미적인 상악 전치부 임플란트 보철물 만들기)

  • Anterior maxillary teeth play an important role in determining a person's first impression and facial profile. Implant surgery in esthetic area requires more careful diagnosis, treatment planning, surgery, and prosthetic restoration than in posterior area. To avoid complications in surgery and prosthetic restoration for implants in esthetic area, accurate diagnosis and appropriate case selection become very important. If you have decided to restore the area with implant prosthesis, you have to know exactly where to place an implant. I will discuss the ideal implant position in terms of mesio-distally, apico-coronally, labio-palatally, and implant angulation. And I would like to point out the selection of fixture diameter & length for anterior implant. Finally, a clinical implant prosthesis case in maxillary central incisor will be shown. In conclusion, for superior esthetic outcome in anterior implant prostheses, we must understand the patient's anatomic condition and know our ability.

Day-Night Differences in Zooplankton Catches in the Coastal Area of Active Tidal Mixing (조류에 의한 혼합이 활발한 연안역에서의 동물 플랑크톤 채집량의 주야 차이)

  • For the test of zooplankton's ability to migrate vertically in the coastal area of active tidal mixing, day-night differences in zooplankton catches were examined. Some taxa such as large Copepods, My side, chaetognatha and Bivalve larva showed high abundances at surface layer at night suggesting the presence of vertical migration even in this shallow coastal area of active tidal mixing. Previously used methods of sampling were reviewed to find a proper sampling method in the Korean western coastal area.

  • Simple mass balance method was developed to estimate the contribution of two major fugitive dust sources in the Port of Incheon to a nearby residential area in this study. Using the relatively small number of TSP data as well as the data on mass fraction of Fe and organic materials in the sampled dust, our simplified method demonstrated its ability to estimate the contribution of each fugitive source to a specific location including the residential area with relatively reasonable accuracy. It is clear from this simple method can be applied to the situation where two major fugitive dust sources are responsible for the high TSP concentration around the source area and there are clear marker chemicals representing the characteristics of the fugitive dust sources.

  • To trace the flood inundation area around rural small stream, RADARSAT image was applied because it has the ability of acquiring data during storm period irrespective of rain and cloud. For the storm of 9 August, 1998 in Anseong-cheon watershed, three temporal RADARSAT images before, just after and after the storm were used. After ortho-rectification using 5 m DEM, two methods of RGB composition and ratio were tried and found the inundated area in the tributary stream, Seonghwan-cheon and Hakseong-cheon. The inundated area had occurred at the joint area of two streams, thus the floodwater overflowed bounding discharge capacity of the stream. The progression of damage areas were stopped by the local road and farm road along the paddy.

  • The use of modern pollen spectra for comparative interpretation of fossil pollen sequence requires the ability to distinguish different vegetation types by their pollen spectra, which may show similarities to fossil assemblages. Tertiary marine and non-marine sediments, the Yeonil Group, of the Yeonil area, Korea, was found thirty-two palynomorphic genera. One of the characteristic features of Yeonil geo-flora is predominance of coniferous trees over shrubs, herbs, and ferns. Miocene deposits of Yeonl area, Korea, ae differentiated with five zones. According to the pollen diagram it can be inferred the climate of the Tertiary Miocene of the Yeonil area, Korea.

Analysis of Teaching Behavior and Visual Attention according to Teacher's Career in Elementary Science Inquire-based Class on Respiration (탐구형 초등과학수업 '호흡' 차시에서 교사의 경력에 따른 교수행동 및 시각적 주의 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the teaching behaviors and visual attention according to teacher's career in Elementary Science Inquire-based Class. Participants were four elementary school teachers in Seoul. They were all in grade 5 and taught science. According to the experience of elementary science education, two novice teachers and two expert teachers were identified. Participants taught Respiration in the 'Structure and Function of our Body' in the elementary science fifth grade. The mobile eye tracker used in this study is SMI's ETG 2w, which is a binocular tracking system. In addition, a video camera was installed behind the classroom to record the entire class. We recorded all the contents of the recorded video and analyzed the results. In this study, the actual practice time, participant's visual attention, and decentralized attention ability were analyzed by class phase. The results of the study are as follows. First, there was a difference between planned class time and actual practice time. The novice teachers were having difficulty in reconstructing the contents of education, and the expert teachers were reconstructing the curriculum and interacting with the students with high understanding and application of the curriculum. There were many differences between the novice teachers and the expert teachers in the tour guidance to confirm student activities. Second, if we look at the visual attention on the area related to teaching and learning by class phase, the novice teacher concentrates all the steps in a specific area, expert teachers showed an equal visual attention to meaningful areas of teaching and learning activities. Third, there was a statistically significant difference in activities 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 2-2 when the participants' decentralized attention ability. Expert teachers frequently checked students' understanding and interests. There was a lot of interaction with students. It is also shown through the decentralized attention ability that the novice teachers concentrate on a specific area, and the expert teachers have a high degree of decentralized attention ability and visual attention evenly.

Evaluating Geomorphological Classification Systems to Predict the Occurrence of landslides in Mountainous Region (산사태 발생예측을 위한 지형분류기법의 비교평가)

  • This study aims at evaluating geomorphological classification systems to predict the occurrence of landslides in mountainous region in Korea. Geomorphological classification systems used in this study are Catena, TPI, and Geomorphons. Study sites are Gapyeong-gun, Hoengseong-gun, Gimcheon-si, Yeoju-si/Yicheon-si in which landslide occurrence data were collected by local governments from 2001-2014. Catena method has objective classification standard to compare among regions objectively and understand the result intuitively. However, its procedure is complicated and hard to be automated for the general public to use it. Both TPI and Geomorphons have simple procedure and GIS-extension, therefore it has high accessibility. However, the results of both systems are highly dependent on the scale, and have low relevance to geomorphological formation process because focusing on shape of terrain. Three systems have low compatibility, therefore unified concept are required for broad use of landform classification. To assess the effectiveness of prediction on landslide by each geomorphological classification system, 50% of geomorphological classes with higher landslide occurrence are selected and the total landslide occurrence in selected classes are calculated and defined as 'predictive ability'. The ratio of terrain categorized by 'predictive ability' to whole region is defined as 'vulnerable area ratio'. An indicator to compare three systems which is predictive ability divided by vulnerable area ratio was developed to make a comprehensive judgment. As a result, Catena ranked the highest in suitability.

Health Pattern of Elderly According to Age Group Who Living Alone in an Urban Area (일 도시 독거노인의 연령 군별 건강양상)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the differences of health patterns; health-related characteristics, health behaviors, health problems, and self-care levels of elderly, living alone in an urban area according to age roup. Method: The study design was a descriptive survey and the subjects were 1,800 elderly consisting of 937 young old, 704 middle old, and 159 old old. Data was collected from May to July 2003 using the structured questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics, $\chi$$^2$-test, Fisher's exact probability test, ANOVA and Scheffe test using SPSS/PC. Result: The health related characteristics which involved body mass index, mental status, use of assistant devices, perceived health, concern of health, and social support were different among the groups and more aggravated by aging. Health behaviors and health problems were also significantly aggravated in the old old group. The self-care levels measured by ADL, physical activity, and self-care ability scores were also significantly decreased in the old old group. Conclusion: For the level of health status, health behaviors and self-care ability were significantly decreased by aging, health care services for the elderly should be planned considering the difference in the health pattern by age group.

A Pedagogical Model Reflecting on Competency Analysis of of the Female Engineering Students in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (제 4차 산업혁명시대의 공과대 여학생 역량분석을 반영한 교수법 모델)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an educational model based on the capacity analysis of college students. In order to measure the learning ability of female science and engineering students, we used various tools to derive core competencies. The competency element of human resources implementation, the element of learning achievement area in the undergraduate education actual condition survey, and the analysis of the learning achievement elements of the engineering certification program were analyzed and the development of teaching method was searched to find ways to increase the competence of female students. In addition, we developed a model that can apply the development of pedagogy in the curriculum to the liberal arts, majors, and comparative courses, and presented the internship in field experience area, the improvement of on the spot learning, and teaching method and guidance to enhance the female students' competence. Also, as a case study of the proposed teaching method, new curriculum of 'Understanding of Big Data' which is the basis of the fourth industrial revolution technology in the second semester of 2016 was developed and applied to the education model. The results of this study are very positive, and we can expect the effectiveness of the new education model to enhance the learning ability and capacity of female students.

The Development of Aquatic Health Exercise Program for the Old (노인 건강운동 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aquatic health exercise program for the old. Methods: 20 healthy female with an average age of 71years($71{\pm}4.2$), were participated in this study. The aquatic health exercise program that include warm-up, stretching, strengthening exercise, WATSU and cool-down was performed in the pool two times a week for eight weeks(40min per one session). Body composition, strength of the both knee flexors and extensors, balance ability(sway area and path), whole body reaction time and flexibility(forward reaching test in long sitting) were measured before and after exercise. The data was analyzed with paired t-test to determine significant differences of all suggested factors between pre and post-exercise by make use of the SPSS(ver 10.0) package program. Results: The strength of the both knee flexors and extensors were increased significantly(right knee; p<0.01, left knee; p<0.05). Anteroposterior sway area (p<0.01), and sway path (p<0.001) of both leg were reduced significantly with eyes closed and opened. Whole body reaction time by optical stimulation was increased significantly (p<0.01) but whole body reaction time by auditory stimulation was no significant difference. The flexibility was increased significantly (p<0.01). Conclusion: Aquatic health exercise program can improve muscle strength, balance, whole body reaction, and flexibility.
