  • The purpose of this study is to analyze traffic flow characteristics according to the market penetration rate (MPR) of autonomous vehicles (AV) on road sections where bus rapid transit (BRT) is actually operating. Furthermore, the maximum traffic volume was set through estimation of future traffic demand, and traffic flow characteristics were analyzed through traffic simulation for each scenario considering of a combination of BRT introduction and AV's MPR. To test statistical significance, Kruskal-Willis test and Jonckheere-Terpstra test were used to examine the impact of the market penetration rate of Autonomous vehicles on travel time and delay time etc. At the same time, the existence of the order relationship among travel time data according to the market penetration rate of autonomous vehicle was examined. As a result of the analysis, it was founded that the travel time significantly decreased as the MPR of AV increases in both intermittent flow and continuous flow environments. In particular, in the case of continuous flow, the law of increasing returns was satisfied in the effect of increasing travel speed and reducing travel time as the MPR of AV increases. The results of this study are expected to be used as a basic information for design plans for road reconstruction and space utilization after the commercialization of AV in the future.

  • In this paper, we introduce an interface for exploring music using emotional model. First, we survey arousal-valence factors of various music and calculate a correlation between audio fefatures of music and arousal-valence factors to build an AV model. Then, various music is aligned and arranged using the AV model and the user can explore music in this interface. To select the desired music more intuitively, we introduce new fade in/out function based on the location of the user's mouse point. We also offer several mode of selecting music so user can explore music using most suitable mode of interface. With our interface, the user can find the emotionally desired music more easily.

  • The object of this study was to develop a gene therapy strategy for ovarian cancer. We have previously shown that AV with a L-plastin (LP) promoter infects breast and ovarian cancer cells and expressed ${\beta}$-galactosidase cDNA in preference to normal fibroblast cells and hematopoietic cells. We now report on the cytotoxicity of Ad.LP.CD, an AV carrying a CD cDNA which converts the pro-drug, 5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC) into the toxic drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). Infection of Ad.LP.CD into either 293 cells or ovarian cancer cells generated the functional CD as measured by HPLC analysis. Using a ratio of AV to OVCAR3 cell of 100 and a 5-FC concentration of 100 ${\mu}$M, we achieve an over 95 % of cell growth inhibition. We are using flow cytometry analysis for ${\beta}$ -galactosidase and ovarian cancer associated folate receptor to screen primary ascites samples for infectivity after infection with an adenoviral vector, i.e., Ad.LP.LacZ. This vector system may be of value in the treatment of microscopic disease of ovarian cancer in the peritoneal cavity.

  • In the AV system, stereophonic system has been studied to produce a realistic sound effect. The width of stereo AV system speakers is narrow, to have the spatial impression of sound effect, widening the sound image is necessary. The direction of sound image depends on the phase delay and the sound pressure level difference between two channels. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between the phase delay and the direction of the sound image relating to the frequency of sound source. Also we experimented to directionally localize the sound image of the pure tone with shifting phases and controling sound pressure love between two channels when the sound is reproduced by two speakers to make a spatial impression of sound effect.

  • An avian rotavirus (AvRV-2) was isolated from feces of broilers suffering from acute gastroenteritis in 2011. It was the first avian rotavirus isolated in Korea. To investigate the molecular characteristics of AvRV-2, the VP4, VP6, VP7 and NSP4 gene nucleotide sequences were determined and compared with those of rotavirus strains available in the GenBank database. The phylogenetic tree of VP7 gene showed that AvRV-2 had a high degree of nucleotide sequence homology (93.4% to 94.7%) with those of rotaviruses belonging to genotype G19 cluster. The phylogenetic tree of the VP4 gene revealed a high degree of nucleotide sequence homology (95.8% to 95.9%) with genotype P[30] rotaviruses isolated from chickens. The VP6 and NSP4 gene nucleotide sequences showed the highest identities with those of avian strains with 95.3% to 96.4% and 90.3% to 92.2%, respectively. Genetic characterization of the VP4, VP6, VP7 and NSP4 showed that AvRV-2 strain was most closely related to chicken rotavirus strains from Germany and Japan. Comparative nucleotide sequences and phylogenetic analysis indicated that avian rotavirus isolated from broilers belonged to genotype G19P[30] and it was the first report on avian rotavirus infection in Korea.

  • In this paper, the authors propose a multi-transmission mechanism of heterogeneous network environment which is applicable to the SMART screen services over wire and wireless convergence network. This paper presents study results including a SMART screen handover algorithm among multiple collaborative devices under wire and wireless convergence and heterogeneous network environment, and a service operation and management system and a NAS system providing SMART services of AV streaming and contents files. These validate implementation feasibility of a call processing engine for seamless SMART screen collaborative services, AV streaming services and SMART screen collaborative services supporting mobility management and multiple users/multiple streams.

  • We have previously reported that 2.4 kb of L-plastin promoter (LP) could regulate the expression of adenoviral vector (AV) exogenous genes in a tumor cell specific manner. In the present study, we tested if the replication competent AdLPE1A vector results in a direct cytotoxic effect in hepatocelluar carcinoma (HCC) cells. In vitro cytotoxicity tests were carried out with replication-competent (AdLPE1A) and -incompetent (AdLPCD) LP-driven vectors. AdLPE1A is an AV in which LP was inserted 5' to the E1A and E1B genes. The AdLPCD vector contains LP and the E. coli cytosine deaminase (CD) gene in transcription unit. Exposure of cells to AdLPE1A generated a significant cytotoxic effect as compared to the control. Almost 90% of the cell had manifested the characteristic cytopatic effect on day 9 after infection of cells with 10 MOI of AdLPE1A. On the other hand, almost 35% of the cells were left when the cells had been treated with 100 MOI of AdLPCD together with 5-FC on day 9 when compared with the cells which had never been exposed neither 5-FC nor AdLPCD. These results showed that the replication competent AdLPE1A vector could kill the HepG2 cells directly by the oncolytic effect of the virus. The replication competent AV vector carrying viral E1A generated greater cytotoxic effect than the replication incompetent AV, which contains the CD prodrug activation transcription unit without E1A, in HepG2 cells.

  • In the presence of laccase, low molecular weight (M.W.) fractions from lignosulfonate (M.W. 97 kD) were produced. By Sephadex column chromatography, four lower M.W. fractions of 9 kD, 1.8 kD, 1 kD and 0.85 kD were identified. The addition of acetovanillone (AV) or acetosyringone (AS) enhanced to the degradation of lignosulfonate with fungal laccase. During this process, there were found new generation of lower M.W. fractions, e.g. approximately 20 kD, 1.8 kD, 1 kD and 0.85 kD for AV, and 20 kD, 3 kD, 1 kD and 0.85 kD for AS, respectively. The quantities of lower M.W. products (especially the fractions of M.W. 1 kD and 0.85 kD) were larger than those in the controls. Also, its degradation became more active in the presence of AS than AV. The presence of AS or AV seems to prevent the re-polymerization of degraded lignosulfonate by the laccase.

  • An important, albeit rare, cause of fetal bradycardia is long QT syndrome (LQTS). Congenital LQTS is an ion channelopathy caused by mutations in genes encoding cardiac ion channel proteins. Fetal onset of LQTS imposes high risk of life-threatening tachyarrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Here, we report the case of a female newborn with fetal onset of bradycardia and a 2:1 atrioventricular (AV) block. After birth, a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed bradycardia with QT prolongation of a corrected QT (QTc) interval of 680 ms and pseudo 2:1 AV block. Genetic testing identified a heterozygous Gly402Ser (c.1204G>A) mutation in CACNA1C, confirming the diagnosis of LQTS type 8 (LQT8). The patient received propranolol at a daily dose of 2 mg/kg. Mexiletine was subsequently administered owing to the sustained prolongation of the QT interval and pseudo 2:1 AV block. One week after mexiletine inception, the ECG still showed QT interval prolongation (QTc, 632 ms), but no AV block was observed. There were no life-threatening tachyarrhythmias in a follow-up period of 13 months.
