  • In the ATs(Auto-Transformers)-fed AC electric railroad system, the trolley wire with high power is supported with a messenger by the dropper. As the dropper maintains the height of the trolley wire and plays a role in distributing the supply power, it should be stabilized in that an electric and mechanical character accord ins the change of the open air circumstance and constructed easily. Consequently, this paper propose C5111 Sn(3.5$\sim$4.5%) and hexagonal round bolt for the way of the efficient stabilization as a result of the test that the correlation of the Sn content and the change of temperature affect a character of product.

  • 열차의 신호 시스템은 열차의 안전운행에 있어 매우 중요한 기술로, 고도의 기술적 능력과 경험이 요구되는 분야이다. 그 동안 당사에서 개발한 ATS(Automatic Train Stop)를 제외한 대부분의 철도 제어 신호 시스템은 국내에서는 개발이 잘 안되었고, 설사 개발되었다 해도 실제 운행 실적이 없다 하여, 철도나 지하철 및 경량 전철에 적용하는 데에 어려움이 많았다. 이에 본 논문에서는 당사의 기술과 외국의 협력업체의 기술을 결합하여 철도 신호 보안 시스템의 최적 구축 방안에 대해 연구하였다.

  • When power failure occurs at multi-housing complex, auxiliary generator or emergency generator starts to provide power to households. This power is connected to emergency power ELB(Earth Leakage Breaker) at home distribution panel board and supplies power only for emergency light in living room but for heating system, refrigerator and other inevitable apparatuses that are in need of uninterruptible power. Since those domestic appliance are fed from common power line, they are inoperable during power failure. Our research is to resolve this problem by developing compatible relay-drive common/emergency-power ATS (automatic transfer switch) for home distribution panel board. In case of power failure, it transfers automatically and commences to provide power from emergency generator. Through this, Consumers can reach satisfaction where common power loads operate without any problem under both ordinary and power failure condition.

  • 현재 기존선에 설치되어 있는 ATS 지상신호시스템은 고속화에 어려움이 있으며 만약 열차운행속도 180km/h급 틸팅차량이 안전하게 운행하고자 한다면, 첨단기술을 이용한 차상신호시스템이 도입이 필요하다. 지상신호시스템의 고속화 적용에 가장 큰 장애 요인으로 작용하는 기관사 시인성 연구 결과에서도 열차 운행속도 160km/h 까지는 가능하나 그 이상의 속도에서는 기관사의 피로도 및 오동작 확률이 높아지므로 기존선 고속화를 위해 신호시스템을 차상신호 시스템으로 개량하는 것이 적합한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문은 최고운행속도 180km/h급 틸팅차량 TTX(Tilting Train eXpress)에 적합한 차상신호장치의 기본설계방안을 제시한다.

  • In case of pn control chart often used in mass production system of plant industry and so on, we could evaluate it's performance by the approximation to normal distribution. It has many differences according to sample sizes and defective fraction, and have disadvantage that needs much samples to use the normal distribution approximation. Existent control charts can not detect the cause of process something wrong because it is taking the sampling intervals of fixed length about all times from the process. Therefore, to overcome this shortcoming we use VSI(variable sampling intervals) techniques in this paper. This technique takes a long sampling interval to have the next sampling point if the sample point is in stable state, and if the sample point is near control lines, it takes short sampling interval because the probability to escape control limit is high. To analyze performance of pn control charts that have existent fixed sampling intervals(FSI) and that use VSI technique, we compare ATS of two charts, and analyze the performance of each control chart by the sample sizes, process fraction defective and control limits that Ryan and Schwertman had proposed.

  • In 2002 Product Liability Act newly got into effect in Korea so that efforts for Product Safety got a new chance to promote safety standardization. Under the supervision of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (ATS) and the Korea Standards Association (KSA), the enterprise titled "Standardization of Product Safety" took the first step in 2000. Thenceforth a lot of standards and guidelines for product safety have been developed. The results of the enterprise were in the type of technical manual as well as report, technical guidelines, and specific technical safety standards. In this paper, the authors narrated those sequential efforts for Product Safety, and introduced the basic concept on which standardization of Product Safety Management System was conducted and individual safety standard has been developed. Based on this systematic concept, a global road-map as well as specific road-maps for developing safety standards in individual industry were supplied. Finally, suggestions for proceeding to the whole risk management system including other risky factors were appended.

  • Platform Screen Door(PSD) has been installed in train manual operation section(ATS/ATC) by SeoulMetro since 2005. PSDs are now operating at 17 stations in SeoulMetro lines. As a result, it increases the safety of passenger, makes a comfortable platform and saves the energy of air conditioning. For PSD operation, train shall stop within 600mm of the train stop reference point. In train manual operation section, the detection system of train position is required to notify the train driver of train position and to ensure the condition that train stops the correct position for PSD operation. To detect the train stop position, the optical sensor shall be installed at platform. However, in case of SeoulMetro lines, the detection criterions of the train correct position stop are different because of using various types of trains which have different size and shape of front cars. In this paper, to solve this problem, the precise detection algorithm of the train stop at the correct position is used, and Laser distance measure sensor is introduced to notify the distance form the reference point of the train correct stop to train driver. This system has been applying to Seoul Metro line total.

  • A horizontal tube furnace with a wide uniform-temperature zone was developed using isothermal characteristics of a heat pipe. The heat pipe heating system consists of a concentric annular shaped stainless-steel container, sodium as a working fluid and a screen mesh wick structure. The performance test of the heat pipe revealed that temperature changes along seven consecutive positions of the heat pipe outer wall were less than${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$, thereby ensuring the high isothermal property. The isothermal property of the heat pipe-adapted tube fumace was investigated and compared to a conventional non-heat pipe type tube furnace. The temperature distribution measurement showed that the uniform temperature zone, in which temperature change is less than${\pm}$1$^{\circ}$C, of the heat pipe employed tube furnace system was about three times longer compared to the conventional tube furnace system.

  • Recently the assurance of railroad safety is very important issue in KOREA because there are lots of changes in the railroad industries. The Railway Safety Act was established in order to cope with these changes effectively and prevent the railroad transportation accidents. According to this law, Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KOTSA) has been entrusted with 'Integrated Railroad Safety Audit (IRSA)'. Even though newly introduced IRSA is conducted smoothly, it is necessary to study the methodology and criteria of the state's safety audit system in other fields to improve the efficiency. In ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Safety Management Manual, a state's safety programme embraces those regulations and directives for the conduct of safe operations from the perspective of aircraft operators and those providing air traffic services(ATS), aerodromes and aircraft maintenance. The safety programme may include provisions for such diverse activities as incident reporting, safety investigations, safety audits and safety promotion. To implement such safety activities in an integrated manner requires a coherent SMS(Safety Management System). In this paper, to improve the efficiency of IRSA, we investigated the ICAO's the State's Aviation Safety Audit Systems and ICAO Safety Management Manual. And through the result of investigation, we proposed the improvement concept of IRSA.

  • Recently, localized heavy rain storms have been occurring frequently due to global warming, and it is difficult to shield a large number of facilities against disaster with limited manpower. The unmanned water treatment system uses five senses to analyze various judgment criteria, which are set according to field situations such as machine vibrations, the temperature of bearings, the sound of the operating machines, and the hydraulic pressure, current, and voltage of the hydraulic floodgates. It thus judges normal or abnormal operation status and conducts unmanned control of such machines. It automatically applies a system to the interruption of communications and therefore improves the reliability of its unmanned irrigation facilities. It maximizes the operational efficiency of managers responsible for various fields, enabling them to discharge water before the situation escalates to a crisis within the golden time, and to protect against damage to humans and property.
