  • This paper tried to analyze the response of air traffic controller(ATC) against abnormal situations using survey based on cognitive strategies suggested by Malakis et al.(2010). The survey designed to empirically analyze the effect of the cognitive strategy factors on organizational effectiveness. The main purpose of this research was as follows: First, it was analyzed both the individual-scale and team-scale factors which constructed the cognitive strategy against abnormal situations. Secondly, how seriously impact the ATC's cognitive strategies on their organizational effectiveness. The organizational effectiveness was divided into such two latent variables as job absorption and job satisfaction. According to the a analysis, it was proven that premeditated act of ATC had a positive significant effect on team-scale cognitive strategies such as teamwork, communication and error management. Moreover, it was found out the team-scale cognitive strategies had also a positive significant effect on job absorption. On the other hands, individual-scale cognitive strategies had no or negative effect on job absorption. Job absorption was proven to have a significant effect on job satisfaction of ATC.

  • In this paper, modified power control algorithms are proposed for a satellite mobile communications system with ATC (ancillary terrestrial component). In order to increase system capacity and reduce the transmitting power of the user's equipment, we propose the modified power control scheme consisting of the modified closed-loop and open-loop power control. The modified CLPC (closed-loop power control) algorithm, combining the delay compensation algorithms and pilot diversity, is mainly applied to the ATC link in urban areas because it is more suitable to the short RTD (round-trip delay). In the case of rural areas where ATCs are not deployed or a signal is not received from ATCs, combining monitoring transmitting power equipment and OLPC (open-loop power control) algorithms using an efficient pilot diversity is mainly applied to the link between the user's equipment and the satellite. Two power control algorithms are applied equally to the boundary areas where two kinds of signals are received in order to ensure coverage continuity. The simulation results show that the modified power control scheme has good performance compared to conventional power control schemes in a GEO (geostationary earth orbit) satellite system with ATC.

  • Automatic Train Stop (ATS) is a device that automatically stops or decelerates a train when the train exceeds the permitted speed limits or violates the signal regulations. The railway signaling system has been evolved to an automatic train control system (ATC), and is being developed into Distance-to-Go and Communication Based on Train Control (CBTC). In spite of that, the ATS system is currently being operated in Seoul Metro (line 1 and 2) and most of railway lines in Korea as well as overseas. In this study, we presents the technical methodology to prevent human errors in order to secure the safety in operation of the ATS system.

  • Existing ATC/ATO/TWC system has a ATC(Automatic Train Control) antenna for receiving the speed code, a ATO(Automatic Train Operation) antenna for obtaining the exact distance to go to platform and TWC(Train and Wayside Communication) antenna for communication between on-board and wayside system. This paper proposes the ATO/TWC antenna with tele-powering module, telegram transmitter/receiver module. This antenna communicates with a passive type tag(wayside Precision Stop Marker) for the information of distance from the stop position and a active type tag for the door command and status in the platform.

  • The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design and testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic Train Operation), ATC(Automatic Train Control), and TWC(Train to Wayside Communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on Test line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems. This test line which is located in Sangju, have been constructed for testing 7 & 8 line of Seoul Metro railway.

  • In term of inaccuracy of information and increasing channel occupancy time, the use of voice communication in Air Traffic Control has many problems. In order to improve it, ICAO proposed digital communication and ADS-B system that is more effective for voice communication in ATC. For improvement of effectiveness to add additional parameter to designated ADS-B In-Out data group, many studies being performed. In this paper, we analysis voice communication for reduce the communication traffic in ATC and simulate to add aiming altitude parameter for comparative effect analysis of communication traffic between pilot and controller. The result of the analysis were successfully validated that reduction of communication traffic in ADS-B environments.

  • An aircraft in flight and ATC(: Air Traffic Controllers) working in the Ground Control Center carry out a voice communication using the radio. Voice signal to be transmitted from the aircraft is received to a plurality of terrestrial sites around the country at the same time. The ATC receives the various quality of voice signal from the aircraft depending on the distance, speed, weather conditions and adjusted condition of the antenna and the radio. The ATC carries out a voice communication with aircraft in the optimal conditions finding the best voice signal. However, the present system chooses the values of the CD(: Carrier Dectect) which is determined to be superior to, based on the input voice level, as optimal channel. Thus this system can not be seen to select the optimal channel because it doesn't consider the effect of the noise which influences on the communication quality. In this paper, after removing the noise in the voice signal, we could give the digitized information and an improved voice signal quality, so that users can select an optimal channel. By using it, when operating the training eavesdropping system or the aircraft control, we can expect prevention accident and improvement of training performance by selecting the improved quality channel.

  • The Air Radio Station plays a role in creating skyways for aircraft and helping them fly safely through aviation mobile communication facilities (U/VHF transceivers) and various navigation safety facilities. It is necessary to remove large trees and weeds around the aircraft because accurate and safe signals must be provided without interruption. During the mowing work for the efficient management of landscaping facilities, there have been cases in which noise is introduced by Lawn Mower, which hinders control work. Accordingly, in order to analyze how mower affects air mobile communication facilities, the interference effect on air mobile communication facilities was analyzed for four types of mower, two-stroke, and battery type. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the two-stroke mower greatly affects air mobile communication facilities.
