The study utilizes remote sensing as the main monitoring means. With different spatial high-resolution, multichannel ASTER remote sensing image as the main information in Beijing city zone; with regional border and statistical data as auxiliary factor a study between the thermal space distribution character and the underground medium is analyzed based on the GIS logical algorithm and synthetic analysis technology. Results show thermal forming mechanism and the rule of distribution is mainly related to the underground medium and the change of the city distribution. Different underground medium has different degree and intensity influence on the thermal space distribution. Furthermore, urban greenbelt and water areas can reduce the thermal effect and large-scale greenbelt creates green island effect. In addition, Road net, residential area, population density, heat resources and so on have some positive effect on the thermal distribution, which increase the local temperature and intensity on the other hand. It is important to study the thermal distribution and its related factors, which contributes to the plan, construction and development of the city.
The purpose of this study is to present a standardized scheme for providing agriculture-related information at various spatial resolutions of satellite images including Landsat + ETM, KOMPSAT-1 EOC, ASTER VNIR, and IKONOS panchromatic and multi-spectral images. The satellite images were interpreted especially for identifying agricultural areas, crop types, agricultural facilities and structures. The results were compared with the land cover/land use classification system suggested by National Geographic Information based on aerial photograph and Ministry of Environment based on satellite remote sensing data. As a result, high-resolution agricultural land cover map from IKONOS imageries was made out. The classification result by IKONOS image will be provided to KOMPSAT-2 project for agricultural application.
Using a field spectrometer having a spectral range of 0.4$\mu\textrm{m}$~2.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ with a spectral resolution of 1nm, the researchers measured the reflectance of granite, andesitic rocks, sedimentary rocks, and pyrophyllite ore in the Ungsang area, Kyungsang Basin, South Korea. Spectral characteristics of the geological media were investigated from the analysis. The in-situ measured sites were selected in well exposed rock outcrops. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, rocks were sampled and remeasured under natural solar condition. The reflectance of field data was measurd at three sistes for granite, six sites for andesitic rock three sites for sedimentary rocks, and two sites for pyrophyllite ore. The vibrational absorption bands for pyrophyllite are detected in the spectral range of 2.0$\mu\textrm{m}$~2.5$\mu\textrm{m}$. The absorption band for granites in study area is not distinctive. The reflectance measured under normal field conditions showed strong absorption at wavelengths of 1.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 1.9$\mu\textrm{m}$ due to the effect of moisture in the atmosphere. After the bands of 1.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 1.9$\mu\textrm{m}$ were removed, Hull Quotient method was applied to characterize absorption bands. The reflectances of field data were calculated to estimate the band ratio corresponding to the Landsat TM and EOS Terra ASTER. The researchers suggest here that the TM band2, band3, band4, and band7 or ASTER band2, band3, band4, and band9 are the best combination for discriminating outcrops. The researchers tested and demonstrated using a Landsat TM image in the study area. For geologic applications, decorrelation stretch is also an effective tool to enhance the exposed rock mass in images.
This study evaluated the applicability of spacebourne datasets to the flood analysis in an ungauged watershed where is no discharge measurements. The Duman River basin of North Korea was selected as a target area which was flooded by recent Typhoon Lionrock. Topographical parameters for flood analysis were estimated from the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM). GDEM includes the shortcomings of information on river cross-section, and conducted 2 dimensional flood analysis when considering virtual river cross-section and not considering it. As a result of comparative analysis, an error occurs in the inundation area and depth, but when used carefully, it is considered that the satellite image can be used for creating flood hazard map and utilizing information for response and preparation.
Plenty of works have indicated that single image super-resolution (SISR) models relying on synthetic datasets are difficult to be applied to real scene text image super-resolution (STISR) for its more complex degradation. The up-to-date dataset for realistic STISR is called TextZoom, while the current methods trained on this dataset have not considered the effect of multi-scale features of text images. In this paper, a multi-scale and attention fusion model for realistic STISR is proposed. The multi-scale learning mechanism is introduced to acquire sophisticated feature representations of text images; The spatial and channel attentions are introduced to capture the local information and inter-channel interaction information of text images; At last, this paper designs a multi-scale residual attention module by skillfully fusing multi-scale learning and attention mechanisms. The experiments on TextZoom demonstrate that the model proposed increases scene text recognition's (ASTER) average recognition accuracy by 1.2% compared to text super-resolution network.

This study was carried out to select suitable plants for beach revegetation as a preliminary study for quantifying the effect of decreasing sand movement. After planting some herbal plants in field, monitoring of temporal change of vegetation coverage which was index of the growth rate was conducted. Through literature reviews, 24 candidate plants for beach revegetation were selected, then seven species of them, Peucedanum japonicum Thunb., Dianthus japonicus Thunb. ex Murray, Sedum oryzifolium Makino, Sedum takesimense Nakai, Sedum spectabile Boreau, Farfugium japonicum (L.) Kitam., Aster sphathulifolius Maxim. were picked through salinity tolerance experiments in laboratory. Seven species selected by salinity tolerance experiments and two additional herbal plants, Prunella vulgaris var. lilacina Nakai and Linaria vulgaris Mill., not the candidates, were nine final species which were planted in the beach around Osan port, Uljin, Korea. The changes of vegetation coverage of each species were investigated from photos periodically taken for about a year using image processing methods. As a result of the monitoring, Sedum takesimensei, Dianthus japonicus and Aster sphathulifolius were observed with high coverages during the whole monitoring while Prunella vulgaris var. lilacina and Linaria vulgaris were observed with low coverage during the same period. Consequently, Sedum takesimensei, Dianthus japonicus and Aster sphathulifolius were concluded as the most suitable plants for beach revegetation. Furthur study to quantify the effects of decreasing sand movement by the selected species is needed.

Chromatin configuration and microtubule assembly were determined in porcine maturing and activated oocytes following intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Microtubule localization was confirmed using a mouse monoclonal antibody to $\alpha$-tubulin and detected using a fluorescent labeled goat anti-mouse secondary antibody. DNA was stained with propidium iodide. The image of microtubules and chromatin was captured using laser scanning confocal microscope. In germinal vesicle stage oocyte, sperm chromatin remained condensation and sperm derived microtubules were not observed at 8 to 12 h after sperm injection. At 24 h after injection, the sperm nucleus developed to the metaphase chromatin along the metaphase structure of female nucleus. In some metaphase I stage oocytes, sperm chromatin decondensed at 8 h to 12 h after injection, sperm aster was seen soon after sperm injection. At 24 h after sperm injection into metaphase I stage oocyte, male chromatin developed to the metaphase chromatin while female chromatin extruded first polar body and formed the metaphase chromatin. At 12 to 15 h after sperm injection into preactivated oocytes, condensed sperm nucleus was located in close proximity of female pronucleus. However, the condensed nucleus did not fuse with female pronucleus. In preactivated ocytes, injected sperm remained condensation, a few sperm organized small microtubular aster. Instead, maternal derived microtubules were organized near the female chromatin, which seem to move condensed male chromatin near to the female pronucleus. These results suggest that sperm nuclear decondensing activity and nucleation activity of centrosome during fertilization are cell cycle dependent. In absence of male functional centrosome, female origin centrosome takes over the role of microtubule nucleation for nuclear movement.

This study is one of studies on the analysis of vegetation spatial image and visual preference of roadside slopes in Chi-Ri Mt. national park. In this article, we analized the soil characteristics and the actual vegetation within slopes and forest lands contiguous to those. The results obtained were summarized as follows; The physical and chemical properties of soil in forest lands were better than slopes and Cheoneun temple - Seongsam pass was the best fertilized among 3 sector. In the structure of woody plants in forest lands, the high importance value species were Pinus denciflora, Quercus aliena within Ukmojeong-Deokdong sector, Q. aliena, Q. varabilis, Q. serrata within Banseon-Seongsam pass sector, and P. denciflora, Q. dentata within Cheoneun temple-Seongsam pass sector. And also, Aster scaber, Arundinella hirta, Pteridium aquilinum were the high importance value herbs within all sector. In slopes, the species diversity indices of woody plants were low, but that of herbs showed slightly high. By the cluster analysis used in similarity index, it was observed that woody plants structure between slopes and forest lands made little, but the herbs made slightly higher than woody plants.

In this study the tidal area in Seo han bay, North Korea was detected and extracted by using various satellite images (ASTER, KOMPSAT EOC, Landsat TM/ETM+) and GIS spatial analysis. Especially, the micro-landform was classified through the spectral characteristic of each satellite image and the change of tidal flat size was detected on passing year. For this, the spectral characteristics of eight tidal flat area in Korea, which are called as Seo han bay, Gwang ryang bay, Hae iu bay, Gang hwa bay, A san bay, Garorim bay, Jul po bay and Soon chun bay, were analyzed by using multi band of multi spectral satellite images such as Landsat TM/ETM+. Moreover, the micro-landform tidal flat in Seo han bay, North Korea was extracted by using ISODATA clustering based on the result of spectral characteristic. In addition, in order to detect the change of tidal flat size on passing years, the ancient topography map (1918-1920) was constructed as GIS DB. Also, the tidal flat distribution map based on the temporal satellite images were constructed to detect the tidal flat size for recent years. Through this, the efficient band to classify the micro-landform and detect its boundary was clarified and one possibility of KOMPSAT EOC application could be also introduced by extracting the spatial information of tidal flat efficiently.
