Design of a Load/store Unit for ARM-SMI Microprocessors (ARM-SMI용 Load/store Unit(LSU) 설계)

  • The superscalar architecture shows limit in performance improvement recently. While, SMT(Simultaneous Multi-Threading) architecture is receiving remark. The purpose of SMT architecture is to improve the performance of superscalar microprocessors by executing multi threads at the same time. In this paper, a load/store unit(LSU) suitable for ARM-compatible SMT microprocessors is presented. This LSU supports load instructions and store instructions of ARM ISA. This LSU keeps away the degradation of SMT by cache miss.

  • 본 논문에서는 바이너리 분석을 위한 ARM의 구조를 분석한다. 바이너리 분석이란 0과 1로 이루어진 이진 값의 의미를 분석하는 것을 말한다. 바이너리 코드를 역어셈블(Disassemble)하여 값으로만 존재하는 데이터가 어떤 명령어(Instruction)이며 어떤 피연산자(Operand)를 의미하는지 알 수 있다. 소스코드를 컴파일하여 실행파일이 생성이 되면 바이너리 값으로 구성되며 이 실행파일을 바이너리 파일이라고도 한다. 바이너리 파일을 분석하기 위해서 CPU의 명령어 집합 구조(Instruction Set Architecture)를 알아야 한다. PC와 서버, 모바일 등에서 많이 사용되고 있는 ARM 중에서 64비트를 지원하는 AArch64(ARMv8)의 명령어 구조를 분석하여 효율적인 바이너리 분석의 기반을 마련하고자 한다.

Verification Platform with ARM- and DSP-Based Multiprocessor Architecture for DVB-T Baseband Receivers

  • In this paper, we introduce a new verification platform with ARM- and DSP-based multiprocessor architecture. Its simple communication interface with a crossbar switch architecture is suitable for a heterogeneous multiprocessor platform. The platform is used to verify the function and performance of a DVB-T baseband receiver using hardware and software partitioning techniques with a seamless hardware/software co-verification tool. We present a dual-processor platform with an ARM926 and a Teak DSP, but it cannot satisfy the standard specification of EN 300 744 of DVB-T ETSI. Therefore, we propose a new multiprocessor strategy with an ARM926 and three Teak DSPs synchronized at 166 MHz to satisfy the required specification of DVB-T.

  • 본 논문은 ARM7 TDMI 마이크로프로세서의 연산기능 중 구현되지 알은 나눗셈 연산 기능을 추가로 구현하였다. 이를 위해 ARM ISA(Instruction Set Architecture)에 부호를 고려한 나눗셈 명령어인 'SDIV' 명령어를 추가로 정의하였으며, 나눗셈 알고리즘 Signed Nonrestoring Division을 수행할 수 있도록 ARM7 TDMI 마이크로프로세서의 Data Path를 재 설계하였다. 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 현재 ARM7 TDMI 마이크로프로세서의 정수 나눗셈 연산처리 방법과 제안된 구조에서의 정수 나눗셈 연산 처리 방법을 비교하였으며, 그 겉과 수행 cycle의 수가 40%로 감소되는 것을 확인하였다

  • Test Interface Controller (TIC) provided by ARM Ltd. is widely used for functional testing of System-on-Chip (SoC) adopting Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA) bus system. Accordingly, this architecture has a deficiency of not being able to concurrently shifting in and out the structural scan test patterns through the TIC and AMBA bus. This paper introduces a new AMBA based Test Access Mechanism (ATAM) for speedy testing of SoCs embedding ARM cores. While preserving the compatability with the ARM TIC, since scan in and out operations can be performed simultaneously, test application time through the expensive Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) can be drastically reduced.

A Disassembly Technique of ARM Position-Independent Code with Value-Set Analysis Having Symbol-Form Domain (기호 형태의 값-집합 분석을 이용한 ARM 위치 독립적 코드의 정교한 역어셈블리 기법)

  • With the proliferation of smart mobiles, disassembly techniques for position-independent code (PIC) composed of ARM architecture instructions in computer security are becoming more important. However, existing techniques have been studied on x86 architecture and are focused on solving problems of non-PIC and generality. Therefore, the accuracy of the collected address information is low to apply to advanced security technologies such as binary measurement. In this paper, we propose a disassembly technique that reflects the characteristics of PIC composed of ARM instructions. For accuratly collecting traceable addresses, we designed value-set analysis having symbol-form domain. To solve the main problem of disassembly, we devised a heuristic using the characteristics of the code generated by the compiler. To verify the accuracy and effectiveness of our technique, we tested 669 shared libraries and executables in the Android 8.1 build, resulting in a total disassembly rate of 91.47%.

  • 본 논문은 임베디드 장비에 사용되는 코어중 시장의 약 70% 이상을 점유하고 있는 ARM(Advanced RISC Machine) 코어에서의 BOF(Buffer OverFlow)에 대해서 논하고자 한다. 먼저, ARM 아키텍처에서 함수 호출시 스택의 변화에 대해서 기술하고 이 환경에서 시스템 공격 기법 중 가장 빈번한 BOF가 어떻게 이루어지는가에 대해서 설명한다. 그리고 ARM 아키텍처만이 가지는 특징을 이용하여 이에 대처하는 방법을 제안 한다.

Recognition of the 3-D motion of a human arm with HIGIPS

  • This paper gives an overview of HIGIPS design concepts and prototype HIGIPS configuration, and discusses its application to recognition of the 3-D motion of a human arm. HIGIPS which employs the combination of pipeline architecture and multiprocessor architecture, is a high-speed, high-performance and low cost N * M multimicroprocessor parallel machine, where N is the number of pipeline stages and M is the number of processors in each stage. The algorithm to recognize the motion of a human arm with a single TV camera was developed on personal computer (NEC PC9801 series). As a constraint condition, some simple ring marks are used. Each joint of the arm is attached with a ring mark to obtain its centroid position when the arm moves. These centroid positions in the three-dimensional space are linked at each of the successive pictures of the moving arm to recover its overall motion. This algorithm takes about 2 seconds to process one image frame on the general-purpose personal computer. This paper mainly discuses how to partition this algorithm and execute on HIGIPS, and shows the speed up. From this application, it is clear that HIGIPS is an efficient machine for image processing and recognizing.

  • This paper focuses on the implementation of hand held typeARM11 Platform for gas sensor based on Embedded Linux OS. The S3C6400, which is ARM11 architecture based, is the key component of the ARM11 Platform, Bluetooth is adapted to consist the network for the wireless transmission of environmental data between a sensor node and hand held type ARM11 Platform. Linux is ported to the Platform, QT/embedded is used for the application development.

  • Coordinate measuring machines(CMMs) are used to obtain the dimensional information with micron accuracy. This paper is concerned with the development of the horizontal arm type coordinate measuring machine using open architecture controller. The coordinate measuring machine considered in this paper consists of three orthogonal axes in the x, y and z directions. Open architecture controller IS used to implement a measuring system which can be fulfill to various needs of endusers of coordinate measuring machines. The open architecture controller presented here is embodied in personal computers. The programs and man-machine interfaces(MM1) are developed for various measuring conditions. Through the computer simulation based on the mathematical models of the coordinate measuring machine, control parameters are optimally tuned.
