Development of Camera System Board Using ARM (ARM을 이용한 카메라 시스템 보드 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In modern society, CCTV, which is the eye of surveillance, is being used to collect image data in various ways in daily life. CCTV is used not only for security, surveillance, and crime prevention but also in many fields such as automobile and black box. In this paper, we have developed a STM32F407 ARM chip based camera system for various applications. In order to develop camera system, modeling of camera system based on 3D structure was carried out in SolidWorks environment. The PCB board design was developed to extract the PCB parts from the camera system modeling files into iges files, convert them from the Altium Designer tool into 3D and 2D boards, After designing the camera system circuit and PCB, we have been studying the implementation of the stable system by using TRM (Thermal Risk Management) tool to cope with the heat simulation generated on the board.

A Multipurpose Design Framework for Hardware-Software Cosimulation of System-on-Chip (시스템-온-칩의 하드웨어-소프트웨어 통합 시뮬레이션을 위한 다목적 설계 프레임워크)

  • As the complexity of SoC (System-on-Chip) design increases dramatically. traditional system performance analysis and verification methods based on RTL (Register Transfer Level) are no more valid for increasing time-to-market pressure. Therefore a new design methodology is desperately required for system verification in early design stages. and hardware software (HW-SW) cosimulation at TLM (Transaction Level Modeling) level has been researched widely for solving this problem. However, most of HW-SW cosimulators support few restricted ion levels only, which makes it difficult to integrate HW-SW cosimulators with different ion levels. To overcome this difficulty, this paper proposes a multipurpose framework for HW SW cosimulation to provide systematic SoC design flow starting from software application design. It supports various design techniques flexibly for each design step, and various HW-SW cosimulators. Since a platform design is possible independently of ion levels and description languages, it allows us to generate simulation models with various ion levels. We verified the proposed framework to model a commercial SoC platform based on an ARM9 processor. It was also proved that this framework could be used for the performance optimization of an MJPEG example up to 44% successfully.

Development of RFID terminal for the Blind to Voice Guide Pharmaceutical E-pedigree (시각장애인을 위한 RFID 의약품 음성안내 단말기 개발)

  • We developed a RFID terminal to voice guide the blind who have difficulties in reaching out to the pharmaceutical information. In this work, we used RFID technology to instruct the pharmaceutical information to the blind. The voice guidance reader was made to read the RFID tag attached to the drugs and announced the pharmaceutical information matching to the tag specific ID. We had the reader to obtain the pharmaceutical information from the ezDrug site operated by Korea Food & Drug Association. The voice guidance reader was fabricated as necklace type for the easy carry, and we added mp3 player as dual uses. ARM series Cortex M3 chip was used for the reader's core chip and low power MFRC523 chipset of NXP was used to construct RFID circuit. MFRC523 chip uses low power to meet the mobile application. We used VS1003B MP3 Decoder IC to make the voice generation circuit and CC2500 chipset for the wireless communication to the pharmaceutical information server. We also developed the system that can support ISO 14443A type and ISO 14443B type so that the system can be used to extend to various RFID protocols. Utilization of this system can conveniently convey the pharmaceutical information to the blind and reduce the drug abuse.

  • Optimized algorithms and numerical expressions which had been verified through C program simulation, should be analyzed again with HDL (hardware description language) such as Verilog, so that the verified ones could be modified to be applied directly to hardware implementation. The reason is that the characteristics of C programming language design is intrinsically different from the hardware design structure. The hardware IP verified doubly in view of hardware structure together with algorithmic verification, was implemented on the Altera Excalibur FPGA device equipped with ARM9 microprocessor core, to a real chip prototype, using Altera embedded system development tool kit. The implemented finite field calculation IPs can be used as library modules as Elliptic Curve Cryptography finite field operations which has more than 193 bit key length.

  • In this paper, we present result of embedded system based H.264/SVC decoder circuit design and system implementation. To deal with the standardized H.264/SVC functionalities, the presented SVC decoder system is consist of hardware engine design and software with ARM core processor. In order to improve the feasibility and applicability, and reduce the decoder complexity, the implemented system is constructed with only the consideration of IPPP structure scalability without using the full B-picture architecture. Finally, we will show the decoding image result using the designed H.264/SVC decoder system.

  • This paper describes an AMBA-based IP to perform forward and inverse transform and quantization required in the H.264 video compression standard. The transform and quantization circuit was optimized for area and performance. The AHB wrapper was added to the circuit for the AMBA-based operation. The user of the IP can specify how long the bus may be occupied by the IP and also where the video data are stored in the external memory. The function of the proposed IP based on AMBA Specification was verified on the platform board with Xilinx FPGA and ARM9 processor. We fabricated an MPW chip using $0.25{\mu}m$ standard cells and observed its correct operations on silicon.

  • We present the implementation of MAC system for MBOA UWB SoC. The implemented MBOA MAC algorithm is not master control mechanism, but distributed network mechanism. Therefore, mesh network can be easily constructed because MAC consists of distributed network and administrates network. The ARM926EJ with cache is adopted for high performnace and AMBA bus is applied for system design and reuse. In addition, the system operating clock management algorithm is implemented for low power consumption. The dedicated DMA for MAC is designed between the system memory buffer and MAC hardware, and the dedicated DMA for USB 2.0 is also implemented between system memory buffer and host for high data transaction.

  • This paper introduces an embedded core test wrapper for AMBA based System-on-Chip(SoC) test. The proposed test wrapper is compatible with IEEE 1500 and can be controlled by ARM Test Interface Controller(TIC). We use IEEE 1500 wrapper boundary registers as temporal registers to load test results as well as test patterns and apply a modified scan test procedure. Test time is reduced by simultaneously performing primary input insertion and primary output observation as well as scan-in and scan-out.

  • EMAST(Embedded Mobile Automatic System for Telematics) is implemented in SoC using the CAN and ARM Processor. For the general usage, EMAST must satisfy the two condition. First, Mobile internal interface is to be designed to support Differential Transceiver, Optical Transceiver and Wireless Transceiver Second, it should be supporting the interface between terminals using EMAST and telematics networks. In this paper, we propose EMAST structure and the efficient interface structure between EMAST and each mobile units.

  • By using RFID technology in order to manage public traffic management, RFID system and middleware software with PXA255 ARM chip is developed and is capable of operating the traffic card. The developed RFID system consists of 13.56MHz RFID R/W, wireless LAN (IEEE802.11.a/b), Wibro (IEEE802.16), TFT-LCD to display information, and embedded system to collect a charge information, etc. By applying developed system, basic infra-structure capable of supporting various service of u-Traffic can be effectively applied.
