  • Augmented reality (AR) is the technology in which a virtual image made by computer is integrated with the real world. Food is one of the most popular products purchased online. In this study, we investigated how the presentation of food images with AR affects purchase intention and user engagement. We hypothesized that purchase intention was increased more by AR food images than by static food images. We also examined whether user engagement mediates the relationship between image presentation format and purchase intention. To test this hypothesis, participants in one group saw AR food images, and participants in another group saw static food images on an iPad. All participants then answered questions about user engagement and purchase intention. As predicted, participants who saw an AR food image reported higher user engagement and higher purchase intention than did those who saw a static food image. The indirect effect of user engagement was also significant, and the link between image presentation format and purchase intention was fully mediated by user engagement. We also found that aesthetic appeal, one of the sub-factors of user engagement, fully mediated the link between image presentation format and purchase intention. Thus AR images of food images were aesthetically more appealing, which led to higher purchase intention. These findings suggest that AR technology can be used effectively as a way to advertise food.

  • In this paper, we introduce a method which enhances the azimuth resolution to obtain the high-resolution SAR image. We used ${\omega}-k$ algorithm to obtain the SAR image and extrapolation using auto-regressive(AR) method to enhance the azimuth resolution in the 2-D frequency domain. The AR method is a linear prediction model-based extrapolation technique. In the result, we showed the performance comparison with respect to the target range and the prediction order of Burg algorithm which is one of AR method.

  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm for the AR(Augmented Reality) system, which is robust to the brightness change of light. In the proposed method, the histogram specification is achieved using the sample histogram, obtained from the frames in which the target objects could be detected successful. And When the object key-points couldn't be detected by the displacement of camera positions, the positions of non-detected key-points ware estimated using the linear KF(Kalman Filter). When the proposed algorithm is applied in the AR systems, the object key-points can be detected three times as much as the existing others. In addition, to prove the more efficiency of the proposed algorithm, we implemented the AR game, and could know that the performance is the more advanced than the others. The proposed algorithm can be used for the AR environments, which high efficiency is required such as the AR game, or the implementation of AR systems which are robust to the change of lights, etc.

  • In order to increase the practical usability of the virtual reality(VR)-based BIM object in the construction site, the difference between the virtual image and the real image should be resolved, and when it is applied to the construction schedule management function, it is necessary to reduce the image gap between the virtual completion and the actual completion. In this study, in order to solve this problem, a prototype of 4D model is developed in which augmented reality (AR) and 3D printing technologies are linked, and the practical usability of a 4D model linked with two technologies is verified. When a schedule simulation is implemented by combining a three-dimensional output and an AR object, it is possible to provide more intuitive information as a tangible image-based schedule information when compared to a simple VR-based 4D model. In this study, a methodology and system development of an AR implementation system in which subsequent activities are simulated in 4D model using markers on 3D printing outputs are attempted.

  • In this paper, under the assumption of the symmetry point spread function, antireflective boundary conditions(AR-BCs) are considered in connection with the fast truncated Lagrange(FTL) method. The FTL method is proposed as an image restoration method for large-scale ill-conditioned BTTB(block Toeplitz with Toeplitz block) and BTHHTB(block Toeplitz-plus-Hankel matrix with Toeplitz-plus-Hankel blocks) linear systems([13, 17]). The implementation and efficiency of the FTL method in the AR-BCs are further illustrated. Especially, by employing the AR-BCs, both the continuity of the image and the continuity of its normal derivative are preserved at the boundary. A reconstructed image with less artifacts at the boundary is obtained as a result.

  • Recently, with having a great interest of the general public for the AR (Augmented Reality) technology, there have been lots of study to improve efficiency of a construction equipment with applying the AR technology to a construction equipment. The clear extrinsic calibration is essential to applying AR technology at the construction site without any error which came from superimposition between 'Real world' and 'Virtual world'. However, on the construction site, the clear extrinsic calibration is not possible, because of lack of time and budget for the specific survey, also, the huge error of the outdoor tracking system such as gyro, GPS system and so on. In this study, we do research about seamless superposition with unclear extrinsic calibration and the image process method for making AR navigator operating in the excavator. Based on this study, we figure that we can fully develop the AR navigator for the excavator. Furthermore, thereby operating AR navigator at many construction sites, we expect that the efficiency of the excavator will be improved. In addition, we can develop AR navigator for not only a excavator but all about construction equipment.

  • Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies can interact intuitively using virtual 3D images. Information signs on buildings that are frequently used by the public play a very important role in conveying information. However, the current information sign has different understanding and interpretation, and it is difficult to communicate quickly and intuitively for interaction. The purpose of this study is to increase the efficiency of information signing through information provision using mobile augmented reality. The InfoAR app not only guides you to the destination of the building, but also acts as a marker for the logo image. The logo image created based on the feature points recognizes the information of the destination. It is converted to AR through a mobile app, allowing users to easily find their destination by obtaining specific information. In addition, it presents interactions that can enlarge, reduce, move, and rotate information about virtual objects augmented through a function called AR. In the future, if user convenience and usability of the interface are added, research is conducted, and the level of completion is improved, such as using VR contents and promotions and business cards, it is expected that highly useful contents will be produced.

  • In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments for virtual prototyping, the user interacts with virtual products by manipulating tangible objects with his or her hands, but the user often encounter awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by augmented virtual objects, which reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. In this paper, we present how to resolve such hand region occlusion in order to enhance natural interaction and immersive visualization. In the AR environment considered, we use two types (product-type and pointer-type) of tangible objects for tangible user interaction with a virtual product of interest. Holding the tangible objects with his or her hands, the user can create input events by touching specified regions of the product-type tangible object with the pointer-type tangible object. We developed a method for resolving hand region occlusion frequently arising during such user interaction, It first detect hand region in a real image and refines the rendered image of the virtual object by subtracting the hand region from the rendered image, Then, it superimposes the refined image onto the real image to obtain an image in which the occlusion is resolved. Incorporated into tangible AR interaction for virtual prototyping of handheld products such as cellular phones and MP3 players, the method has been found by a preliminary user study that it is not only useful to improve natural interaction and immersive visualization of virtual products, but also helpful for making the users experience the products' shapes and functions better.
