  • In this paper, stochastic optimization algorithms of PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and APSO (Adaptive Particle Swam Optimization) are studied and compared. It is revealed that the APSO provides faster convergence and better search efficiency than the conventional PSO when they are adopted to find the global minimum of a two-dimensional function. The advantages of the APSO comes from the ability to control the inertia weight, and acceleration coefficients. To verify that the APSO is working better than the standard PSO, the design of a 10GHz microstrip patch as one of the elements of a high frequency array antenna is taken as a test-case and shows the optimized result with 5 iterations in the APSO and 28 iterations in th PSO.

  • MnAPSO-34 and Mn-impregnated SAPO-34(Mn-SAPO-34) sample were prepared with various manganese contents and studied by electron spin resonance(ESR) and electron spin echo modulation(ESEM). Electron spin echo modulation analysis of 0.07mo1 % Mn(relative to p) in MnAPSO-34 with adsorbed D$_{2}$O shows two deuteriums at 0.26 nm and two at 0.36 nm from Mn. This suggests that two waters hydrate an MnO$_{4}$ configuration with a D-O bond orientation for the waters as expect for a negatively charged site at low manganese content (0.1 mol%), the ESR spectra of MnAPSO-34 and MnH-SAPO-34 exhibit the same parameters(g 2.01 and A 89 G), but the spectra obtained from MnAPSO-34 samples are better resolved. The decomposition temperature of as-synthesized MnAPSO-34 were in the range of 200-600 $^{\circ}C$ of the morpholine which is 12 $^{\circ}C$ higher than that in as-synthesized MnH-SAPO-34. Infrared spectra showed that the position of a band at 3450 $cm^{-1}$ / shifted about 15 $cm^{-1}$ / toward higher energy in MnAPSO-34 versus MnH-SAPO-34. The modulation depth of the two-pulse ESE of MnAPSO-34 with adsorbed D$_{2}$O is deeper than that of MnH-SAPO-34 with adsorbed D$_{2}$O. Three-pulse ESEM of MnAPSO-34 and MnH-SAPO-34 with adsorbed deuterium oxide shows that the local environments of manganese in the hydrated samples are different, suggesting that Mn(II) is framework substituted in MnAPSO-34 since it obviously occupies an extraframework position in MnH-SAPO-34.

  • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive PSO(APSO) algorithm which changes parameter values with every recursion based on the conventional particle swam optimization(CPSO). In order to solve the optimization problem, the proposed APSO algorithm is applied to some functions, such as the De Jong function, Ackley function, Davis function and Griewank function. The superiority of the proposed APSO algorithm compared with the genetic algorithm(GA) is proved through the numerical experiment. Finally we applied the proposed algorithm to developing a function for personal magnetic field exposure based with real datas which are acquired based on the consumer research and field measuring instrument.

  • Effects of Co/Al and Si/Al molar ratios of cobalt incorporated SAPO-34 catalysts (CoAPSO-34) on their catalytic lifetime were investigated in dimethyl to olefin (DTO) reaction. The property of CoAPSO-34 catalysts was characterized using XRD, SEM, $^{29}Si$ MAS NMR, and $NH_3$-TPD techniques. First, the lifetime of CoAPSO-34 prepared by varying Co/Al molar ratios was improved than that of using the SAPO-34 catalyst, and the optimal Co/Al molar ratio was 0.0025. The total acid site amounts increased from 0.432 to 1.111 mmol/g with increasing Si/Al molar ratios from 0.05 to 0.20 while fixing a Co/Al molar ratio of 0.0025. However, the catalysts with too high acid site amounts were deactivated rapidly with blockages of the pores due to the fast accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the cage. Therefore, the CoAPSO-34 catalyst with a proper Si/Al molar ratio of 0.10 was the most superior in terms of the lifetime, which was improved by about 87% as compared with that of the SAPO-34 catalyst.

  • This paper describes a new stochastic heuristic algorithm in engineering problem optimization especially in power system applications. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) called adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO), mixed with simulated annealing (SA), is introduced and referred to as APSO-SA. This algorithm uses a novel PSO algorithm (APSO) to increase the convergence rate and incorporate the ability of SA to avoid being trapped in a local optimum. The APSO-SA algorithm efficiency is verified using some benchmark functions. This paper presents the application of APSO-SA to find the optimal location, type and size of flexible AC transmission system devices. Two types of FACTS devices, the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and the static VAR compensator (SVC), are considered. The main objectives of the presented method are increasing the voltage stability index and over load factor, decreasing the cost of investment and total real power losses in the power system. In this regard, two cases are considered: single-type devices (same type of FACTS devices) and multi-type devices (combination of TCSC, SVC). Using the proposed method, the locations, type and sizes of FACTS devices are obtained to reach the optimal objective function. The APSO-SA is used to solve the above non.linear programming optimization problem for better accuracy and fast convergence and its results are compared with results of conventional PSO. The presented method expands the search space, improves performance and accelerates to the speed convergence, in comparison with the conventional PSO algorithm. The optimization results are compared with the standard PSO method. This comparison confirms the efficiency and validity of the proposed method. The proposed approach is examined and tested on IEEE 14 bus systems by MATLAB software. Numerical results demonstrate that the APSO-SA is fast and has a much lower computational cost.

  • This study presents an application of adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO) to solving the bi-level job-shop scheduling problem (JSP). The test problem presented here is $10{\times}10$ JSP (ten jobs and ten machines) with tribottleneck machines formulated as a bi-level formulation. APSO is used to solve the test problem and the result is compared with the result solved by basic PSO. The results of the test problem show that the results from APSO are significantly different when compared with the result from basic PSO in terms of the upper level objective value and the iteration number in which the best solution is first identified, but there is no significant difference in the lower objective value. These results confirmed that the quality of solutions from APSO is better than the basic PSO. Moreover, APSO can be used directly on a new problem instance without the exercise to select parameters.

  • This study has been focused on the influence of Fe(III) incorporation into framework of SAPO-34(FeAPSO-34s;/su/Fe = 40,20 and 5) on the catalytic performance of methanol conversion. By rapid crystallization method, the XRD,SEM,ICP,TG-DTA, and BET sufrace areas. With an increase in the Fe content incorporated to the framework, the crystallinity identified from the intensity of XRD peaks slightly decreased and the particle size observed from SEM photographs decreased also. On the other hand, the acid sites in crystal decreased kin the Fe-incorporated samples, and the selectivity to ethylene for FeAPSO-34 catalyst on methanol conversion was enhanced compared with the nonmetal incorporated(SAPO-34)

  • SAPO-34 catalysts were modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Pb to improve their catalytic lifetime and selectivity for light olefins in the conversion of dimethyl ether to olefins (DTO). Hierarchical SAPO-34 catalysts and PbAPSO-34 catalysts were synthesized according to changes in the molecular weight of PEG (M.W. = 1000, 2000, 4000) and the molar ratio of Pb/Al (Pb/Al = 0.0015, 0.0025, 0.0035), respectively. By introducing PEG into the SAPO-34 catalyst crystals, an enhanced volume of mesopores and reduced acidity were observed, resulting in improved catalytic performance. Pb was successfully substituted into the SAPO-34 catalyst frameworks, and an increased BET surface area and concentration of acid sites in the PbAPSO-34 catalysts were observed. In particular, the concentrations of the weak acid sites, which induce a mild reaction, were increased compared with the concentrations of strong acid sites. Then, the P2000-Pb(25)APSO-34 catalyst was prepared by simultaneously utilizing the synthesis conditions for the P2000 SAPO-34 and Pb(25)APSO-34 catalysts. The P2000-Pb(25)APSO-34 catalyst showed the best catalytic lifetime (183 min based on DME conversion > 90%), with an approximately 62% improvement compared to that of the unmodified catalyst (113 min).
