  • Several mathematical models describe the compressive behaviour of different types of concretes, but no specific one for foamed cellular concrete (FCC) has been developed. In this work, simple compression tests on FCC specimens of different mixes were conducted to study this material's compression behaviour curve until failure. Using continuous load and displacement measurement equipment, it was possible to obtain stress-strain curves up to peak for FCC of different strengths (from 1.20 to 47.34 MPa). Elastic modulus, compressive strength and failure strain values were also determined. Through the analysis of the mentioned curves, a mathematical model of them was obtained, through which it is possible to describe the compression behaviour of FCC up to failure. The comparison between the predicted curve against experimental data shows the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • The structural and electrical properties of $(1-x)Ba(Sm_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3-xBaTiO_3$; ($0{\leq}x{\leq}1$) ceramics were prepared by conventional ceramic technique at $1375^{\circ}C$/7 h in air atmosphere. The crystal symmetry, space group and unit cell dimensions were derived from the X-ray diffraction (XRD) data using FullProf software whereas crystallite size and lattice strain were estimated from Williamson-Hall approach. XRD analysis of the compound indicated the formation of a single-phase cubic structure with the space group Pm m. Dielectric study revealed that the compound $0.75Ba(Sm_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3-0.25BaTiO_3$ is having low and ${\varepsilon}^{\prime}$ and ${\varepsilon}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ a low $T_{CC}$ (< 5%) in the working temperature range (up to+$100^{\circ}C$) which makes this composition suitable for capacitor application and may be designated as 'Stable Low-K' Class I material as per the specifications of the Electronic Industries Association. The correlated barrier hopping model was employed to successfully explain the mechanism of charge transport in the system. The ac conductivity data were used to evaluate the density of states at Fermi level, minimum hopping length and apparent activation energy of the compounds.

  • Currently an automated methodology based on data mining techniques is presented for the prediction of customer load patterns in long duration load profiles. The proposed our approach consists of three stages: (i) data pre-processing: noise or outlier is removed and the continuous attribute-valued features are transformed to discrete values, (ii) cluster analysis: k-means clustering is used to create load pattern classes and the representative load profiles for each class and (iii) classification: we evaluated several supervised learning methods in order to select a suitable prediction method. According to the proposed methodology, power load measured from AMR (automatic meter reading) system, as well as customer indexes, were used as inputs for clustering. The output of clustering was the classification of representative load profiles (or classes). In order to evaluate the result of forecasting load patterns, the several classification methods were applied on a set of high voltage customers of the Korea power system and derived class labels from clustering and other features are used as input to produce classifiers. Lastly, the result of our experiments was presented.

  • Power plants maintenance data is to be sent to management server system via a communication network. In this case, reliable communication network is required. Transmission of the power plants maintenance data is used in the wired communication network or wireless communication network. PLC communication network is a kind of wired communication network. However PLC communication network is easily affected by noise. On the vulnerable areas in power line system, such as a mountain or rural areas, it is difficult to form a power line communication network. For a wireless communication, environment are also influenced factors in wireless communication. Harsh environmental factors are bring the communication characteristic degradation. In such areas it can be used a combination of two networks and in this way the complementary function can be achieved. Power plants are distributed in various regions across the country. The appropriate communication network is needed to maintain the power plant. This study investigated the effect of environment on the wired communication and wireless communication. It would examine a variable factor which is affect to the communication characteristic. We used PLC communication for wired communication network and ZigBee communication for wireless communication network. We investigated the characteristics of a single communication network and it raised the need for a complex communication technology to complement a single communication network.

  • Impedance and electrical conduction studies of $Ba(Nd_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ ceramic prepared using conventional high temperature solid-state reaction technique are presented. The crystal symmetry, space group and unit cell dimensions were estimated using Rietveld analysis. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the formation of a single-phase cubic structure with space group $Pm\bar{3}m$. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis and scanning electron microscopy studies were carried to study the quality and purity of compound. The circuit model fittings were carried out using the impedance data to find the correlation between the response of real system and idealized model electrical circuit. Complex impedance analyses suggested the dielectric relaxation to be of non-Debye type and negative temperature coefficient of resistance character. The correlated barrier hopping model was employed to successfully explain the mechanism of charge transport in $Ba(Nd_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$. The ac conductivity data were used to evaluate the density of states at Fermi level, minimum hopping length and apparent activation energy.

  • In this paper, functionality of soft computing algorithms such as Group method of data handling (GMDH), Random forest (RF), Random tree (RT), Linear regression (LR), M5P, and artificial neural network (ANN) have been looked out to predict the compressive strength of concrete mixed with marble powder. Assessment of result suggests that, the overall performance of ANN based model gives preferable results over the different applied algorithms for the estimate of compressive strength of concrete. The results of coefficient of correlation were maximum in ANN model (0.9139) accompanied through RT with coefficient of correlation (CC) value 0.8241 and minimum root mean square error (RMSE) value of ANN (4.5611) followed by RT with RMSE (5.4246). Similarly, other evaluating parameters like, Willmott's index and Nash-sutcliffe coefficient value of ANN was 0.9458 and 0.7502 followed by RT model (0.8763 and 0.6628). The end result showed that, for both subsets i.e., training and testing subset, ANN has the potential to estimate the compressive strength of concrete. Also, the results of sensitivity suggest that the water-cement ratio has a massive impact in estimating the compressive strength of concrete with marble powder with ANN based model in evaluation with the different parameters for this data set.

  • In this paper, we propose a LoRa communication module using the LoRa RF module of Murata Electronics is designed to configure the IoT digital meter remote meter reading and a method of configuring a remote meter reading network by collecting multiple meter data in a DCU (Data Concentrate Unit) to configure a network with LoRaWAN. The developed system can be installed more easily and economically in the network configuration than the existing system by allowing the meter to be directly connected to the network or matched with a DCU to connect to the network according to the configuration of the consumer. The developed system was constructed using a digital water meter as an example, but it can also be applied to remote meter reading of the metered values of other meters such as electricity, water, gas, hot water and calorie meters. The main development contents are the design, configuration, and construction of digital meters, LoRa modules and DCUs, and how to connect the LoRaWAN network and transmit meter data to the server. By networking these devices, the system is configured, and the actual LoRaWAN communication is tested and the result is shown.

  • A framework for multi-platform analytical and multi-component hybrid (testing-analysis) simulations is described in this paper and illustrated with several application examples. The framework allows the integration of various analytical platforms and geographically distributed experimental facilities into a comprehensive pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation. The object-oriented architecture of the framework enables easy inclusion of new analysis platforms or experimental models, and the addition of a multitude of auxiliary components, such as data acquisition and camera control. Four application examples are given, namely; (i) multi-platform analysis of a bridge with soil and structural models, (ii) multiplatform, multi-resolution analysis of a high-rise building, (iii) three-site small scale frame hybrid simulation, and (iv) three-site large scale bridge hybrid simulation. These simulations serve as illustrative examples of collaborative research among geographically distributed researchers employing different analysis platforms and testing equipment. The versatility of the framework, ease of including additional modules and the wide application potential demonstrated in the paper provide a rich research environment for structural and geotechnical engineering.
