The use of primitive cell volume and zero order Laue (ZOLZ) pattern is proposed to identify phase in a complex microstructure. Single convergent beam electron pattern containing higher order Laue zone ring from a nanosized region is sufficient to calculate the primitive cell volume of the phase, while ZOLZ pattern is used to determine the zone axis of the crystal. A computer program is used to screen out possible phases from the value of measured cell volume from convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern. Indexing of ZOLZ pattern follows in the program to find the zone axis of the identification from a single CBED pattern. An example of the analysis is given from the rapidly solidified $Al-Al_3Ti$ system.
The location of Cu(II) exchanged into measoporous aluminosilicate MCM-41(AlMCM-41) material and its interaction with various adsorbate molecules were investigated by electron spin resonance and electron spin echo modulation spectroscopies. Cu(II) is fully coordinated to adsorbates in a wide open mesopore of AlMCM-41 for the formation of favorable complexes. It was found that in the fresh hydrated material, Cu(II) is octahedrally coordinated to six water molecules as evidenced by an isotropic room temperature ESR signal. This species is located in a cylindrical MCM-41 channel and rotates rapidly at room temperature. Evacuation at room temperature removes some of these water molecules, leaving the Cu(II) coordinated to less water molecules and anchored to oxygens in an MCM-41 channel wall. Dehydration at 450$^{\circ}C$ produces one Cu(II) species located on the internal wall of a channel, which is easily accessible to adsorbates. Adsorption of adsorbate molecules such as water, methanol, ammonia, pyridine, aniline, acetonitrile, benzene, and ethylene on a dehydrated Cu-AlMCM-41 material causes changes in the ESR spectrum of Cu(II), indicating the complex formation with these adsorbates. Cu(II) forms a complex with six molecules of methanol as evidenced by an isotropic room temperature ESR signal and ESEM analysis like upon water adsorption. Cu(II) also forms a square planar complex containing four molecules of N-containing adsorbates such as ammonia, pyridine and aniline based on resolved nitrogen superhyperfine interaction and their ESR parameters. However, Cu(II) forms a complex with six-molecules of acetonitrile based on ESR parameters. Only one molecule of benzene or ethylene is coordinated to Cu(II).
The aluminum (Al)/copper oxide (CuO) complex is known as the most promising material for thermite reactions, releasing a high heat and pressure through ignition or thermal heating. To improve the reaction rate and wettability for handling safety, nanosized primary particles are applied on Al/CuO composite for energetic materials in explosives or propellants. Herein, graphene oxide (GO) is adopted for the Al/CuO composites as the functional supporting materials, preventing a phase-separation between solvent and composites, leading to a significantly enhanced reactivity. The characterizations of Al/CuO decorated on GO(Al/CuO/GO) are performed through scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy mapping analysis. Moreover, the functional bridging between Al/CuO and GO is suggested by identifying the chemical bonding with GO in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The reactivity of Al/CuO/GO composites is evaluated by comparing the maximum pressure and rate of the pressure increase of Al/CuO and Al/CuO/GO. The composites with a specific concentration of GO (10 wt%) demonstrate a well-dispersed mixture in hexane solution without phase separation.
In this article, we consider properties of transcendental meromorphic solutions of the complex differential-difference equation $$P_n(z)f^{(n)}(2+{\eta}_n)+{\cdots}+P_1(z)f^{\prime}(z+{\eta}_1)+P_0(z)f(z+{\eta}_0)=0$$, and its non-homogeneous equation. Our results extend earlier results by Liu et al. [9].

This study is concerned with effects of complex oxides on Charpy impact toughness of heat affected zone (HAZ) of API X80 linepipe steels. Three kinds of steels were fabricated by varying alloying elements such as Ti, Al, and Mg and hot-rolling conditions to form complex oxides, and their microstructures and Charpy impact properties were investigated. The number of complex oxides present in the steel containing excess Ti, Al, and Mg was twice larger than that in the conventional steels, while their size ranged from 1 to $3{\mu}m$ in the three steels. After the HAZ simulation test, the steel containing a number of oxides contained about 20 vol.% of acicular ferrite in the simulated HAZ, together with bainitic ferrite and martensite, whereas the HAZ microstructure of the conventional steels consisted of bainitic ferrite and martensite with a small amount of acicular ferrite. This formation of acicular ferrite in the oxide-containing steel was associated with the nucleation of acicular ferrite at complex oxides, thereby leading to the great (five times or more) improvement of Charpy impact toughness over the conventional steels.
The weld zone of dissimilar formed Al alloy exhibited the complex structure of the two materials and mainly composed of the retreating side material. The mechanical properties were also depended on the dominant microstructure of the weld zone with welding conditions. The different mechanical properties of weld zone with welding conditions were related to the behavior of the precipitates of wrought Al alloy and Si particles of cast Al alloy. The higher mechanical properties of weld were acquired when relatively harder material, wrought Al alloy, was fixed at the retreating side.
Hot tensile tests were conducted at different temperatures ranging from $20^{\circ}C$ to $550^{\circ}C$ to evaluate the mechanical properties of Al5052 seamless tubes. Such tubes can provide the technological foundation for complex forming using hot air bulging. Hot air bulging is one of the recently developed hydroforming techniques and it has some limitations in terms of cycle times. The benefits of hot air bulging are weight and cost savings through part consolidation and reduced post-forming processes such as welding and piercing. In order to extend the forming limits of Al lightweight material hot air bulging was investigated. A heated tube was placed in a heated die and sealed at the ends by sealing cylinders. The heated tube was subsequently expanded against the die cavity wall by internal pressure using air medium. The results of the current study show that axial feeding speed and air pressure have an effect on the formability of Al tubes during air bulging at elevated temperatures.

Objective: Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is a diagnostic tool that provides precise and reproducible information about cardiac structure, function, and tissue characterization, aiding in the monitoring of chemotherapy response in patients with light-chain cardiac amyloidosis (AL-CA). This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of CMR in monitoring responses to chemotherapy in patients with AL-CA. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study, we enrolled 111 patients with AL-CA (50.5% male; median age, 54 [interquartile range, 49-63] years). Patients underwent longitudinal monitoring using biomarkers and CMR imaging. At follow-up after chemotherapy, patients were categorized into superior and inferior response groups based on their hematological and cardiac laboratory responses to chemotherapy. Changes in CMR findings across therapies and differences between response groups were analyzed. Results: Following chemotherapy (before vs. after), there were significant increases in myocardial T2 (43.6 ± 3.5 ms vs. 44.6 ± 4.1 ms; P = 0.008), recovery in right ventricular (RV) longitudinal strain (median of -9.6% vs. -11.7%; P = 0.031), and decrease in RV extracellular volume fraction (ECV) (median of 53.9% vs. 51.6%; P = 0.048). These changes were more pronounced in the superior-response group. Patients with superior cardiac laboratory response showed significantly greater reductions in RV ECV (-2.9% [interquartile range, -8.7%-1.1%] vs. 1.7% [-5.5%-7.1%]; P = 0.017) and left ventricular ECV (-2.0% [-6.0%-1.3%] vs. 2.0% [-3.0%-5.0%]; P = 0.01) compared with those with inferior response. Conclusion: Cardiac amyloid deposition can regress following chemotherapy in patients with AL-CA, particularly showing more prominent regression, possibly earlier, in the RV. CMR emerges as an effective tool for monitoring associated tissue characteristics and ventricular functional recovery in patients with AL-CA undergoing chemotherapy, thereby supporting its utility in treatment response assessment.
The surface of commercial alumina fibers used for reinforcing the MCFC matrix has been coated with ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 being the same material as the matrix, by the sol-gel method in order to enhance the corrosion resistivity of alumina fibers. Stable LiAlO2 complex polymeric sols for coating was synthesized by mixing aluminum alkoxide polymeric sols with LiNO3 solution. It was found that the LiAlO2 polymeric sol prepared by adding the mixed chelate of acethylacetone and triethanolamine (the mole ratio of AA/TEA = 0.125/0.75) to the 1 mole of the aluminum alkoxide had the excellent stability and coating behavior. The crystalline structure of the dried gel from the ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 sol was completely transformed into the ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 at $600^{\circ}C$. The optimum viscosity of the sol for coating the alumina long fibers was 30~40 cP, while it was 12~20 cP in case of the short fiber coating. The ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 coated alumina fibers without defects fully densified when heat-treated at 120$0^{\circ}C$.
AL072 is a potent anti-Legionella antibiotic produced by Streptomyces strain AL91. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of AL072 against Legionella pneumophila was 0.2$\mu$g/ml. Bacterial growth was rapidly inhibited at the dose range between the MIC and 20 times of the MIC when the antibiotic was added at the mid-exponential phase. Ultrastructural changes in L. pneumophila were observed upon treatment with AL072. Under electron microscopical observation, the organisms treated with AL072 exhibited characteristic morphological changes in the cellular outer coat. Also irregular morphological changes, such as the formation of filamentous materials in the cytoplasm, an increase in the size and number of cytoplasmic vacuoles, the extruding of cytoplasmic contents, the formation of spheroplast and ghost cells, and blebbings in the cell wall were observed. Furthermore, immunoelectron microscopical observation of the group treated with the MIC showed that the immune complex attached mainly to the cell wall. The results of these experiments indicate that AL072, like the inhibitors of cell wall synthesis, act selectively on the cell wall of L. pneumophila.
