  • A smart city utilizes data collected from various sensors through the internet of things (IoT) and improves city operations across the urban area. Recently substantial research is underway to examine all aspects of data that requires for the smart city operation. Atmospheric data are an essential component for successful smart city implementation, including Urban Air Mobility (UAM), infrastructure planning, safety and convenience, and traffic management. Unfortunately, the current level of conventional atmospheric data does not meet the needs of the new city concept. New and innovative approaches to developing high spatiotemporal resolution of observational and modeling data, resolving the complex urban structure, are expected to support the future needs. The geographic information system (GIS) integrates the atmospheric data with the urban structure and offers information system enhancement. In this study we proposed the necessity and applicability of the high resolution urban meteorological dataset based on heavy fog cases in the smart city region (e.g., Sejong and Pusan) in Korea.

  • In this paper, as a preliminary study for developing a full 3D electron dose calculation algorithm, We developed 2.5D electron dose calculation algorithm by extending 2D pencil-beam model to consider three dimensional geometry such as air-gap and obliquity appropriately. The dose calculation algorithm was implemented using the IDL5.2(Research Systems Inc., USA), For calculation of the Hogstrom's pencil-beam algorithm, the measured data of the central-axis depth-dose for 12 MeV(Siemens M6740) and the linear stopping power and the linear scattering power of water and air from ICRU report 35 was used. To evaluate the accuracy of the implemented program, we compared the calculated dose distribution with the film measurements in the three situations; the normal incident beam, the 45$^{\circ}$ oblique incident beam, and the beam incident on the pit-shaped phantom. As results, about 120 seconds had been required on the PC (Pentium III 450MHz) to calculate dose distribution of a single beam. It needs some optimizing methods to speed up the dose calculation. For the accuracy of dose calculation, in the case of the normal incident beam of the regular and irregular shaped field, at the rapid dose gradient region of penumbra, the errors were within $\pm$3 mm and the dose profiles were agreed within 5%. However, the discrepancy between the calculation and the measurement were about 10% for the oblique incident beam and the beam incident on the pit-shaped phantom. In conclusions, we expended 2D pencil-beam algorithm to take into account the three dimensional geometry of the patient. And also, as well as the dose calculation of irregular field, the irregular shaped body contour and the air-gap could be considered appropriately in the implemented program. In the near future, the more accurate algorithm will be implemented considering inhomogeneity correction using CT, and at that time, the program can be used as a tool for educational and research purpose. • In this study, a performance analysis code was developed for the off-design performance analysis of air turbo ramjet(ATR) engine, and the analyses were performed for the pre-designed ATR engine at several operating points in the envelope. Variable intake and thrust nozzle were assumed to cover the wide envelope. Mathematical models for each components were developed to calculate their off-design performance. Simple design formulas were introduced for some components to explore the performance variation versus the design parameters. As a result, the pre-defined engine couldn't cover the entire mission profile. And it was also found that the effect of the pre-cooler was not very great, especially in the region of low Mach number.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest ways on reducing the cooling and heating energy cost of the officetel building with the multiple glazing windows according to Life Cycle Costing. This study consisted of an hour-by hour energy simulation program and further data from the EnergyPlus V1-2-2 to the four pane type windows that were applied with 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas to the officetel model building. It was determined that the four panes type windows that had 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas applied to, them showed a cooling and heating cost reduction over traditional double glazed windows that were filled with air. According to this study, as well as the information from chart 4.5 and the LCC it was determined that the present value of the four panes of windows that had 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas applied to them showed. a 11.4% reduction in heating and cooling in comparison to the traditional double glazed windows that were filled with air.

  • Complex thermal hydraulic characteristics exist inside the reactor because the reactor internals consist of fuel assembly, internal structures and so on. In this study, to examine the effect of Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS)-based two-equation turbulence models in the analysis of flow distribution inside a 1/5 scaled-down APR+, simulation was performed using the commercial computational fluid dynamics software, ANSYS CFX R.13 and the predicted results were compared with the measured data. It was concluded that reactor internal flow pattern was locally different depending on the turbulence models. In addition, the prediction accuracy of k-${\varepsilon}$ model was superior to that of other two-equation turbulence models and this model predicted the relatively uniform distribution of core inlet flow rate.

  • A nonlinear dynamic simulation of a small gas turbine engine was performed by using DYNGEN program with various environmental conditions. It was observed that the effect of the bleed air flow rate changed to overall engine performance. The real time linear model which was a function of engine rotor speed was resulted to be close to nonlinear simulation results. For optimal LQR controller, it was considered only fuel flow rate or both fuel flow rate and bleed air rate as inputs. In the comparison of both results, the LQR controller with multi input had better performance than that with single input.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for recognizing ground target using dual polarization channels in millimeter waveband air-to-surface radar. First, the Push-Broom target detection method is described and the received signal is modeled considering flight-path scenario of air-to-surface radar. The scattering centers were extracted using the RELAX algorithm, which is a time domain spectral estimation technique, and the feature vector of the target was generated. Based on this, a DB for 4 targets is constructed. As a result of the proposed method, it is confirmed that the target classification rates is improved by more than 15% than the single channel using the data of the dual polarization channel.

  • EnergyPlus, which is widely used in various fields, provides Simple Window Model, a window model that can be used practically. However, the results of building load using the model are different from those of the standard model. The main cause of the deviation by Simple Window Model was analyzed to be due to the assumption that all windows were considered as single layer. The purpose of this study is to propose a window model that improves the cause of deviation by Simple Window Model and can be easily calculated from the algebraic relations. The proposed window model solved the heat balance equation algebraically by using seven window characteristic coefficients. The coefficient relationships consisted of the heat transmission coefficient and solar heat gain coefficient as input parameters make practical use and calculation possible. As a result of comparing the deviation between each window model by implementing the dynamic analysis method, the proposed window model showed that the deviation of the total heating/cooling energy consumption was reduced to 1/3 compared to Simple Window Model for one year. Although the maximum energy consumption did not show any significant improvement, the indoor temperature evaluation showed significantly reduced deviation.

  • In recent years, studies on the prediction of building load using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models have been actively conducted in the field of building energy In general, building loads predicted by ANN models show a sharp deviation unless large data sets are used for learning. On the other hands, some of the input data are hard to be acquired by common measuring devices. In this work, we estimate daily building loads with a limited number of input data and fewer pastdatasets (3 to 10 days). The proposed model with fewer input data gave satisfactory results as regards to the ASHRAE Guide Line showing 21% in CVRMSE and -3.23% in MBE. However, the level of accuracy cannot be enhanced since data used for learning are insufficient and the typical ANN models cannot account for thermal capacity effects of the building. An attempt proposed in this work is that learning procersses are sequenced frequrently and past data are accumulated for performance improvement. As a result, the model met the guidelines provided by ASHRAE, DOE, and IPMVP with by 17%, -1.4% in CVRMSE and MBE, respectively.
