  • First topic of this paper aims to clarify how oxygen and heat transfer in silicon melt under cusp-shaped magnetic fields. We obtained asymmetric temperature distribution by using time dependent and three-dimensional calculation. Second topic is study on molecular dynamics simulation, which was carried out to estimate diffusion constants of oxygen in silicon melt.

  • This study aims to realize high precision repetitive positioning control of the linear servo motor. The authors have previously improved the repeatability positioning precision by employing a two-degree-of-freedom PID controller in the positioning control, rather than equal distance positioning, and investigates the repeatability positioning precision.

  • Koreans and English have different phonotactic constraints and phonological rules. It causes Korean learners to have difficulty in pronouncing certain English consonant clusters correctly. This paper aims to discuss what English consonant clusters are difficult for Korean learners to learn and why this difficulty arises by comparing phonotactic constraints and phonological rules of English and Korean.

  • This paper aims to show an inner, basic harmony between metaphysics and current directions in mathematics and in the philosophy of mathematics. In this attempt, the general truths of metaphysics and the truths particularly relevant to the nature of mathematical abstraction serve as speculative guides in ordering the content and discussing the nature of the multiple questions lie between and disputed frontiers of metaphysics and mathematics.

  • This study aims to find the significance of the ancient Egyptian arithmetic in mathematics education and to analyze the educational value by practical teaching of the Egyptian multiplication. In this study, we confirmed that application of historical materials in mathematics instruction enable students to awaken their interest, to offer the opportunities of exploration, and furthermore to develop their mathematical thinking ability.

  • It is said that mathematics is neutral and free from any thought. But the history of mathematics refuses it. This paper aims to investigate modernism and postmodernism in mathematics and to scrutinize them. For this, first modernism is characterized by concentrating on Descartes' philosophy, and next postmodern view which criticizes modernism is discussed. Finally it is claimed that mathematical realism and postmodernism can be comparable in different dimensions.

  • This paper aims to analyze the overvoltage in underground distribution systems when lightning surge strikes to overhead line. The model is established by EMTP/ATPDraw for actual distribution systems. Simulation is carried out considering variation of parameters such as length and lightning current.
