동기식 광전송망에서 ADM USHR 선정문제

  • 동기식 광전송망에서는 망의 생존도를 고려하여 다양한 형태의 망구조가 제안되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수요가 한 방향으로만 처리되는 ADM을 이용한 USHR선정문제를 다룬다. USHR설계문제에서는 노드간의 수요를 처리하기 위하여 장비의 위치선정, ADM간의 연결을 위한 Ring 경로선정문제, ADM이 설치되지 않은 노드와 ADM간의 연결방법, Ring용량결정등 많은 의사 결정이 이루어져야 한다. 특히 주어진 노드 간에 하나 이상의 SHR을 설치해야 하는 경우에는 매우 복잡한 문제가 되기 때문에 최적화 모형을 수립하여 문제를 해결하는 것이 불가능하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주어진 노드집합에 대하여 모든 노드에 ADM이 설치되는 가정하에서 Ring의 용량제약을 고려한 USHR선정모형 및 효과척인 해법을 제시한다.

Embedded Waveform Coding of Speech (음성 파형의 Embedded 부호화에 관한 연구)

  • The performances of embedded adaptive differential pulse code modulation (ADPCM), embedded adaptive delta modulation (ADM), and the same systems with a delayedfecision scheme have been studied with real speech over a wide dynamic range. The embedded ADPCM and ADM coders have been obtained by modifying the conventional ADPCM and ADM coders. The basic scheme of the embedded ADPCM coder is based on the ADPCM originally proposed by Cummiskey et at. For embedded ADM systems, we have modified continuously variable slope DM (CVSD) and hybrid commanding DM (HCDM) systems. Among these embedded coders, the performance of the embedded HCDM is superior to the other coders over a wide range of transmission rate from 16 to 64 kbits/s, When the delayedtecision scheme is applied to the embedded ADPCM the performance is improved significantly at all transmission rates. But, in the embedded ADM systems with 16 kHz sampling rate, the performance improvement resulting from delayed decision is not drastic as is in the embedded ADPCM with the same number of delayed samples.

Preparation and Evaluation of Temperature Sensitive Liposomes Containing Adriamycin and Cytarabine

  • Temperature sensitive liposomes(TSL) containing adriamycin (ADM) and cytarabine (Ara-C) were prepared. ADM and Ara-C were selected as model compounds of amphiphilic and hydrophilic drug, respectively. Encapsulation efficiency of ADM entrapped into TSL was about twice greater than that of Ara-C. It might be due to different polarity of the drug, Lipid compositions of TSL had no effect on the encapsulation efficiency of drugs. Thermal behavior of TSL using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was also investigated. Phase transition of TSL using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was also investigated. Phase transition temperature $(T_c)$ of TSL was dependent on the lipid compositions of TSL ADM broadened thermogram of TSL but Ara-C did not. However, $T_c$ of TSL was not changed by any drug. Release rate of drugs was highly dependent on temperature. The release profile of ADM was similar to that of Ara-C. The maximum release rate of drugs from TSL was occurred at the near $T_c$ and observed at $39-41^\circ{C}$ for DPPC (Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine) only, $52-54^\circ{C}$ for DPPC and DSPC (1:1), respectively. Effect of human serum alburmin (HAA) on the release rate of ADM was investigated. HSA had no significant effect on the release of ADM below $T_c$. However, ADM release from TSL was increased at the near and above $T_c$. The HSA-induced leakage of drug may result from the interaction of liposomal constituents with HSA structure at the near TEX>$4^\circ{C}$. From the fact that the release profiles of ADM from freshly prepared TSL and stored TSL for 1 week at TEX>$4^\circ{C}$ was not changed, the TSL was considered to be stable for at least 1 week at TEX>$4^\circ{C}$. Based on these findings, TSL may be useful to deliver drugs to preheated target sites due to its thermal behaviors.

Does acellular dermal matrix expand in response to tissue expander inflation?

  • Background Acellular dermal matrices (ADMs) have recently become widely used in breast reconstruction, but the correlation between the final expander volume and the surface area of the ADM is not well understood. In this study, the expansion of the surface area of ADM and the expander volume was studied retrospectively in cases of acellular dermis-assisted tissue expander breast reconstruction. Methods Twenty cases of immediate breast reconstruction using an ADM-assisted tissue expander from January 2015 to December 2015 were evaluated. In all 20 cases, CGCryoDerm was used as the matrix, with a thickness of 1-3 mm. No slit incisions were made. Finally, the proportional increase in the area of the fully expanded ADM was compared to that of the tissue expander volume. Results The proportional increase in the ADM surface area was calculated to be from 1.1 to 2.46, with a mean value of 1.7. Additionally, under the assumption that the expander had a spherical shape, the increase in its radius (the cube root of its volume) was assessed. The range of the proportional increase in the expander radius was 1.1 to 2.24, with a mean value of 1.66. The proportional increase in the radius of the expanded ADM surface area ranged from 1.04 to 1.34, with a mean ratio of 1.28. Conclusions The results of this study confirmed that the ADM expanded when the tissue expander was inflated. However, the ADM expanded to a lesser extent than the tissue expander, indicating that the muscle and other tissues expanded more than the ADM when the tissue expander was inflated.

Diagnostic and prognostic value of proadrenomedullin in neonatal sepsis

  • Purpose: Sepsis is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis is a major problem because of the lack of specific clinical signs. Therefore, a reliable diagnostic marker is needed to guide the use of antimicrobial agents. The objective of our study was to assess the value of proadrenomedullin (pro-ADM) in establishing the diagnosis and evaluating the prognosis of neonatal sepsis. Methods: This study enrolled 60 newborn infants with sepsis proven with positive blood cultures and 30 healthy neonates. Complete blood count, C-reactive protein levels, and pro-ADM levels were obtained from all neonates. Results: The pro-ADM levels were significantly higher ($14.39{\pm}0.75nmol/L$) in the sepsis group than in the control group ($3.12{\pm}0.23nmol/L$). The optimal cutoff value for pro-ADM was 4.3 nmol/L, with a sensitivity of 93.3% and a specificity of 86.7%. The pro-ADM levels were also higher in nonsurvivors (P=0.001). Conclusion: Pro-ADM can be used as a reliable biomarker for neonatal sepsis. High pro-ADM levels were associated with mortality and could be an early indicator of disease outcome.

  • Performance and realization of finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters that use an adaptive delta modulator (ADM) as an analog/digital converter have been studied. This filter requires no multiplication and offers many advantages over conventional PCM filters in low power consumption, small size, and cost effectiveness. Analytical formulas have been derived for the expected mean-squared errors and also for the word length necessary to achieve the desired performance. Computer simultation has been done to optimize the parameter values and to verify the results of performance analysis. In addition, design of FIR ADM digital filters for processing single and multi-channel signals has been considered.

Effects of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 loaded Acellular Dermal Matrix on Bone Formation (재조합 골형성 단백질 2형(rh-BMP-2) 함유 무세포성 진피조직(acellualr dermal matrix)의 골재생 효과)

  • Introduction : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possibility of the acellular dermal matrix (ADM) as a barrier membrane for bone regeneration, and to evaluate the osteogenic effect of ADM as a carrier system for rhBMP-2 in the rat calvarial defect model. Materials and Methods: An 8-mm, calvarial, critical-size osteotomy defect was created in each of 60 male Spraque-Dawley rats(weight $250{\sim}300g$). Three groups of 20 animals, each received either rhBMP-2(0.025mg/ml) in an ADM carrier, ADM only, or negative surgical control. And each group was divided into 2- and 8-weeks healing intervals. The groups were evaluated by histologic and histomorphometric parameters(10 animals/group/healing intervals). Data were expressed as $means{\pm}standard$ deviations($m{\pm}SD$). Comparisons between experimental and control groups were made using two-way ANOVA and post hoc t-test. Comparisons between 2 weeks and 8 weeks were made using paired t-test. The level of statistical difference was defined as P< 0.05. Results : The ADM group and rhBMP-2/ADM group results in enhanced local bone formation in the rat calvarial defect at both 2 and 8 weeks. The amount of defect closure and new bone formation were significantly greater in the rhBMP-2/ADM group relative to ADM group(P<0.05). At 8 weeks, the majority of ADM in the defect was contracted, and integrated with surrounding host tissues. In addition, host cell infiltration and neovascularization of the ADM in the absence of an inflammatory response were observed, and the newly formed bone around ADM showed a continuous remodeling and consolidation. Conclusion : The results of the present study indicated that ADM may be used as a barrier membrane for bone regeneration and that may be employed as a delivery system for BMPs.

Cost-Effective Traffic Grooming in WDM Ring Networks : Uniform-Traffic Case (WDM 링 네트워크의 비용 절감을 위한 트래픽 통합 기법 : 유니폼 트래픽 경우)

  • To fully utilize the capabilities of a SONET/ADM network, traffic grooming is needed to multiplex a number of lower-rate traffic streams into a higher-rate stream, and vice versa. Although the capacity of a SONET ring network can be upgraded by operating it over multiple wavelengths, the corresponding network design may be costly if it employs a large number of ADMs. A cost-effective design attempts to minimize the total number of ADMs used in the network while carrying the offered traffic. We introduce and evaluate the performance characteristics of a new traffic-grooming approach for WDM ring networks, called multihop. The multihop implementation places an ADM at each node based on the requested traffic in the traffic-demand matrix then, it tries to groom the wavelengths which can be groomed. We select one of the nodes to be the "hub" node which has an ADM for each wavelength. The hub node, therefore, can "bridge" traffic between all of the wavelengths. The algorithm is specified and illustrated by a simple example. Our results demonstrate that it is beneficial to use a single-hop approach, but for a large grooming ratio and node number, we advocate the use of the multihop approach.e multihop approach.

A Branch-and-price Algorithm for the Minimum ADM Problem on WDM Ring Networks (WDM 링에서의 ADM 최소화 문제에 대한 분지평가 해법)

  • In this study, we consider the minimum ADM problem which is the fundamental problem for the cost-effective design of SONET ADM embedded in WDM ring networks. To minimize the number of SONET ADMs, efficient algorithms for the routing and wavelength assignment are needed. We propose a mathematical model based on the graph theory for the problem and propose a branch-and-price approach to solve the suggested model effectively within reasonable time. By exploiting the mathematical structure of ring networks, we developed polynomial time algorithms for column generation subroutine at branch-and-bound tree. In a computer simulation study, the suggested approach can find the optimal solution for sufficient size networks and shows better performance than the greedy heuristic method.

A Study on the Digital Filter Structure for ADM Coded Signal (ADM 부호화신호를 위한 디지털필터구조에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper the theory of digital filters which can directly process the ADM encoded signal, and their structures are studied. In order to investigate the frequency characteristics of DM filters with the strucutures presented in this paper, a sampled speech signal is used for the input data. The result of computer simulation shows that the presented DM filter structures can be used effectively for the direct process of ADM encoded signals, ven though they do not posses sufficiently sharp cutoff characteristics.
